I appreciate most of the I/O being on the back but not the webcam position or the gigantic power brick. I've seen the 15-inch Y540 with the RTX 2060 and a 1 TB SSD available as open box excellent condition for less than $1,000 at B&H. At that price, it's a really solid option.

I currently have a 4-5-year-old 17-inch Ideapad Y700, and if it were to fail me, I'd totally go for this one. Definitely my kind of laptop. I wish there were a bit more competition in the mid-tier 17-inch gaming laptop market though, but at least it's nice to see Lenovo consistently nailing it. Big screen, good I/O, good performance, doesn't feel cheap, no surprisingly un-upgradable components (like soldered RAM), reliable, and doesn't break the bank.

Hello, a really nice video. I am just searching for a gaming laptop and this Lenovo made it to the final selection. Just a quick question, the one with 1660 Ti is cheaper here by 3000 CZK (approx. 125 USD). Are those RTX features really worth it? Will not I have to turn them off anyway to get more power? 2060 is the lowest of RTX series. Thanks.

I love how you neantion the fact of using gaming rigs to be your production powerhouse because back in February of 2017 I decided the hell with it and do the same... So my impulsive ass dropped $2,400 in a brand new Alienware - A17R4 with the 1TB HD an 512GB SamSung 970 EVOPlus M.2 V-NAND SSD with 32GB HyperX 2900 Ram and what was long back then the GTX 1070 buttttt I'm wondering if I'd be able to update the GPU to an RTX 2070?? Gahhh I'm doing upgrades right now due to a SoDIM slot crapping out and now wanna try and upgrade wherever possible since it's out of warranty now and pretty much on the end of its life cycle in terms of performance u can get out of what it's got. Hopefully you may have some thought on what to incorporate? My studio is in shambles right now but should be operational after this weekend's end so keep doing what you do good sir and I'll be here for the moral support lurking in the shadows where I await for goddies to drop on your channel 🤣😂👍

Honestly, its never wise to game on a laptop without it being plugged in for charging. I mean no matter how powerful they brag their specs / power life, graphics intensive game drains battery extremely fast for laptop and can risk overheating.

For a gaming laptop a 2060 is very much mid range with a 2080 being high end and a 1650 being budget.
