I'm still Loving my Legion 5 (R7-4800H/RTX-2060)- The only reason I got it was, it made more sense than replacing the GTX-780ti in my Skylake PC during the Video Card Crises ( February 2021, before it affected Laptop prices too) I was worried (Even bought extended warranty), but I have no regrets.
It is impressive that a 4 year old laptop is doing so well without DLSS and with a slower CPU. I think it has 2-3 years of life left...plus the infinite backlog lol
I usually don't care about fps as long as it is around 30, I cant see a big different when it is 30, so for cyberpunk i have setting high, and RT, the reflection look so much cooler !!!
A good comparison would be the 2060M vs the 4060M Laptops, I still have a 2060 laptop and its been great but I've been looking see if getting the 4060 laptop would be worth the upgrade.

If a game uses 100% of 4 of 8 cores, the osd shows 50%. Then you can't see, that the cpu is the bottleneck by looking at the osd alone. Singlecore Speed matters...
Hi, I have the same laptop and still face overheating, even after using liquid metal and the Flydigi BS1 cooling base (which lowers temps by -15°C). My CPU is still throttling. Could you explain the bottom base mod you mentioned for better airflow and how I can get it?
I used a Dremel tool to open the closed vents at the bottom. They look as if they were meant to be open but Asus decided to close them. Opening them again helps with the temperature. But you alter your laptops bottom and put more holes in it...
I would undervolt the cpu, might laptop out of the box was reaching 95-99C, but after undervolting I usually sit around 60-70 range, which in terms of laptops, is amazing
Yeah the cpu is definitely the issue in mine. No matter how much i undervolt the i7-10750h its always gonna be a heater that's slow. My 2060m was one of the last released when they refreshed it and had an 80w limit before i vbios swapped it to 115w so games that require more gpu definitely run better. 1920 core with an undervolt so i don't hit the voltage limit and 6500 on the memory. Only game i have issues with is skyrim since even with all these graphics mods it still needs a good single core cpu and at least 8-10 gigs of vram.
Update found out why my i7 was being so annoying... When I reset my bios after messing with my ram the virtualization / virtual machine bios settings turned on. Virtualization makes it so you can't undervolt smfh. I'm now rocking a 175mv undervolt on the core and 75mv undervolt on the cache.
@@denzelmolina5945 Same most of the time now. My issue was the virtual machine settings that my bios (and windows) automatically turned on. Helped even more when i covered all the speaker holes so the air from my laptop cooler would actually when through the heatsinks.
I'd rather point to mere 6GB of vram be the bigger culprit of bottleneck than R7 4800h. When RTX 2060 hit the market it had DLSS 1.0 (which was crap), so in order to sell the product with new tech NVIDIA had to pack the card with load of tensor cores (240, 2nd gen) for people to actually notice the difference. But then much better DLSS 2.0 came out and those high count of tensor cores suddenly allowed the card to hit gold (in terms fps to $$$ ratio). Unfortunatelly (for this card) games released nowadays demand bigger vram (8GB+) thus even higer count of tensor cores wont help here much. If RTX 2060 mobile was given 8GB of vram from the start then it's 2.0 DLSS working on 240 TC would make it revelant till today.
Well yeah the 6GB defenitely are an issue in some games. But even in games where it's NOT an issue (Especially on the lower settings) the real issue is the CPU. Not the VRAM.
Hello! I really need you help choosing a laptop. I came a cross two razer blades that I’m torn between. One is a Blade 15 advanced with: 4K OLED Touch Intel core i9-11900H 16Cpus up 4.9Ghz 32Go ram ddr4 1to Ssd Nvme Nvidia Rtx 3080 16Go Vram. The other is 2023 Blade 16 rtx 4060 and mini LED with the double refresh feature. I don’t know which screen is better. Or how frame rates will behave in recent games like: RE4 and Cyberpunk. They both are 100$ apart with the blade 15 being the cheaper option. Seriously, I would really appreciate your professional opinion
Only if the CPU is throttling. On this Laptop there IS a minor throttle. The all Core Boost should be 4200 Mhz, but often is more like 3900 - 4150 Mhz. But in most scenarios the GPU still is the bottleneck. Especially on Higher settings. It won't make a noticable difference there.

@@radysg4346 the old a15 from 2020 had temperature isses. Yeah. But it's not dangerous to the cpu. It will stay within safe Temps. That's also why I modded some extra holes into the bottom.

It will be good enough for video editing. But the 16GB ram can become a problem in bigger projects. But you could most likely upgrade that to 32 for a few dollar.
Ur cpu is throttling bc of heat so its not this cpus full performance in any tests and ryzen 4000 series is equivalent to intel 9000 series but intel 10000 series and ryzen 5000 series also came to rtx 20 series laptops

I'm pretty sure the RTX 2050 does not beat the RTX 2060, and the 3050 is not on par with the 2060 either, they're all slower than the 2060. or maybe I just misunderstood what you said
there is no thermal throttling, 2060 starts throttling at 87°C, so 80°C is fine, and 4800h has a Tj of 105°C, it only starts throttling when it's close to 100°C.
There is some MINOR throttling (Power or Thermal) on the CPU. It's missing like 150 MHz. But that's not going to cause a noticable difference tbh. And like I said, the 4800H is the FASTEST! CPU you can get with an RTX 2060 Mobile...

Actually in that case it's a tough decision. The Ryzen 3750h is a pretty slow CPU and will be a strong bottleneck. If the 4gb Vram become a problem you can lower the graphics. If the CPU becomes the problem you can't do anything... So maybe get the Victus.

I think a lot of the games were limited by ram since a lost were at 14-15gb ram usage. Otherwise it's the zen 2 cpu

Depends on the game and the settings. On higher settings the results would be pretty similar. On lower settings maybe a bit lower.

And the 2060 MaxQ is slower than the 3050 6GB depending on its wattage.

In games rgat use less than 4gb vram it's basically 0% difference. In games that use more than 4gb it can be up to 50%difference.

Yes, the 4060 will be fine for most people for a few years.
Your 4800H isnt bottlenecking the GPU, the reason is thermal throttling
there is no thermal throttling, 2060 starts throttling at 87°C, so 80°C is fine, and 4800h has a Tj of 105°C, it only starts throttling when it's close to 100°C.
