@Ian Visser yes but would rather that than CPU, they only offer 2060 as the top sepc currently, it's also the 115w version, all current releases run fine at 1080p 1440p (scaled) the 144hz screen looks great. I don't think it's the perfect match but the performance is still great for both games and work @ £800 it was a great deal. Anyone one considering this make sure you run dual channel ram (2 sticks) the performance is night and day.
@Ian Visser thanks and totaly, for rasterization amd/amd will be a dream battery wise but after using DLSS and RTX on Watch Dogs and Cyber Punk it's a big ask for AMD to match the performance. BTW this screen is the 144hz that does the fake Dolby Vision (still looks great) and for context I've had MSI, Alienware and HP Omen laptops beofre. This IMO ranks way better all round, it cuts the right corners and keeps the performance, the keyboard is a dream. They only thing i wish it had was Gsync when pushing the GPU hard.
@Ian Visser good food for tought, I think what I can say now is these AMD CPUS and this (and I can't believe I'm saying this) Lenovo provide a great value now and a view of the future (8/16 @ 4.3), if anyone wants a good Laptop right now get one the internal desing is great with the 3 levels of performance and so on and so on. If you can wait then wait there is always something new around the corner. While you loose a bit on silge core compared to the best intel has to offer you honestly won't notice it. I think future GPUs still will take time to work out whats best given your requirements on laptop but it's amazing to see AMD back in the game. Been many years since I had a AMD CPU and I have zero regerts.
Got mine a month ago. 10th gen i5, 1660ti, 8+8GB of ram, additional 1TB nvme. Runs cyberpunk at high settings 55-60 fps without a problem. Great machine.
Do you think it will be able to handle, say, Halo Infinite at the end of this year? I have a PS5, a fiancee, and a relatively small Chicago apartment, so I'd prefer a gaming laptop that I can fold up and put away over an Xbox Series X, but I'm a huge Halo fan.
@@L11ghtman I'm sure it can. It might not at max settings, but I would expect it to fair decently on medium or even high. Depending on the config of course. The 1650 one might need low to run well. I would definitely recommend the 1660ti version.

@@kaneki1056 fair enough. I’m just saying that if you used this laptop for gaming as it’s product line would suggest, you are gonna need the extra 1tb of space just to hold a few games.

I can't express how effective the low key design works for business meetings and the such, while giving us the ability to game later. I mean, really game! It handles games extremely well. My only complaint is the brick. It's huge. I have a Gen 9 i7 RTX 2060 model.
I got the Honey ad that you guys were in on this video, so it took me a second to realize it was an ad, and I thought I didn't skip the ad because you're wearing the exact same outfit.

My last laptop was a Lenovo. It was great. I passed it down to my younger brother after it was too slow to game on. Still running 5 years after purchase like a champ!
Feels good to have bought something before a major channel review made it sell out! I got the lesser 6-core 4600 for under $800 - that's w/1650Ti, 1TB HD, 256 SSD, 8GB 3200 ram, and 120hz display. When it comes to a do-most mobile rig that crams entry gaming, excellent cooling, IPS clarity, a solid keyboard and tier-above fit and finish into a traditional laptop form, I don't know if there's any comparable value.
@@zer0expl0its95 On the AMD version, you can upgrade both SODIMM slots. and you can actually go up to 64GB (even though Lenovo documentation says the limit is 32GB). I have one, so I am speaking from first-hand experience.
@@WarrenGarabrandt No I don't want any distro based on Ubuntu, canonical's business practices are anti-gamer trying to kill all 32bit libs which a lot of games need, and Ubuntu trying to force their brand of snaps on everyone which could lead to a very large security hole. It's either a good Arch based distro like Manjaro, or a pure Debian based distro like Mint DE(Debian Editon), Q4OS Trinity or MX Linux for me. Manjaro Mate is my main distros btw, with Q4OS Trinity for really low end machines.
I bought the AMD version for my daughter for Christmas a few weeks back and put 32G RAM and a 1TB NVME drive in it before I even wrapped it up. It's not entirely obvious when you take the back off as there is a metal shield clipped over the SODIMM slots.

I got mine a few weeks ago with Ryzen 7, RTX 2060, 16GB RAM and 1TB HD. I'm really happy with it so far. I have it hooked up to a dual screen config most of the time with a primary gaming monitor running at 2560x1440 with Gsync and everything I've tried works splendidly at that resolution. When I've been running strategy games I've often had a full HD movie on the other monitor without any issues... some whine from the cooling, but not much. The processor is a beast. I've been doing my job on it as well because everything just feels so much better than on my work PC - a Lenovo L490 with i5 and 16GB RAM, but an Intel graphics card and a slower SSD. It just feels so sluggish now just starting regular productivity apps or working with a handful of Chrome tabs. My only complaint is that I would have liked to have one more USB-C port. I use the only one as a displayport. Other than that it's great.
I'm currently using a Legion 5, AMD version. CPU: Ryzen 7 4800H GPU: RTX 2060 Honestly, an RTX card and Ryzen 7 CPU is a match made in heaven. I'm using this laptop to edit videos and do 3D work (Solidworks) and there's barely any fan noise. It performs as good as my other AMD Zephyrus laptop, but it was £100 cheaper. Worth the buy, if you can still get it at MSRP.
I got my Lenovo Legion 5i about 3 months ago and I 100% recommend Lenovo's Legion line. I got the Intel i7 10th gen and RTX 2060 16 gig ram plenty of storage and 144 hertz screen for less than 1200. Lenovo products constantly go on sale so wait for the best price.

Personally I couldn't get used to the high pitched noise the fans make under stress. I found out that more people had issues with that and yes, perhaps it's subjective. I don't think it was a defective unit for that matter. Don't get me wrong the overall build quality and performance was excellent and I didn't expect a silent machine by no means. Just be aware that if you're senstive to high frequencies it might bother you. Search here on YT and you will find an example demonstrating this. For anyone else I'm sure this is an awesome machine!
I have the lenovo legion 5 . Ryzen 4800h, 16gb 3200ram, rtx 2060 and 512gb ssd and 120hz. Jesus christ this is a beast of a laptop. It's very cool and doesn't throttle. Got it for 900 dollars. I went with the larger battery and two M.2 ssds @ 1 TB each. (ram was 16 GB (8x2) out of the box, I didn't need to mess with that)
The two SODIMM slots are just under the cover right in the center. They are both upgradeable (not soldered in), so you can go up to 64GB if you want.
The maximum supported memory in the legion 5 as listed by Lenovo is 32gb
@@devinblaser7538 yeah, but you can go higher if you can find 32gig compatible modules. My laptop was only supposed to support 16gb ddr3 SO-DIMMs, but 2x16 worked fine.

@@GlennBerrySQL the maximum memory for the amd chips is 64gb and for intel its 128gb, so that makes sense, the 32gb max from lenovo is the highest specs they tested so thats their suggested max
@@summushieremiasclarkson4700 yeah the max ram suggested by the manufacturer is just what config they test, you have to search the cpu max memory
It does have RAM upgrade option available. It was under the other heat sink to the left of the WiFi adapter.
You can upgrade the ram, I have the 4800H 2060 (115w) version, it's a very well made laptop. I needed a replacement now but will look at their 5000/3000s next year. Impressed at the price.
@Ian Visser its gonna be even worse if its a 2060 maxq
@Ian Visser yes but would rather that than CPU, they only offer 2060 as the top sepc currently, it's also the 115w version, all current releases run fine at 1080p 1440p (scaled) the 144hz screen looks great. I don't think it's the perfect match but the performance is still great for both games and work @ £800 it was a great deal. Anyone one considering this make sure you run dual channel ram (2 sticks) the performance is night and day.
Agree, next year will be very intersting, my son will love getting this one as a hand me down when i get a 5000 cpu / 3000 gpu.
I got hp omen amd 4800 16gb 1660ti 144 hertz monitor 1 tb memory. It came with very little bloat. Love it
The Ram is probably under that big metal plate in the middle, so it's upgradable
I just got one a week ago and I love it. Got the 5i, 1660Ti, 16GIG, it's a sweet machine.
Watching it from my legion 5. This laptop is a beast.
@@L11ghtman from what i've read, it definitely can
@@L11ghtman I'm sure it can. It might not at max settings, but I would expect it to fair decently on medium or even high. Depending on the config of course. The 1650 one might need low to run well. I would definitely recommend the 1660ti version.
Bought this in nov, best purchase ever made, runs warzone at 75 FPS average on max settings including direct x raytracing. I got ryzen 7 4800, 1660 ti, 16 gb ram, 144 hz, 512 Gb ssd, for 999 usd on Amazon, and I overclocked 100 mz.
If you are a headphone user please be aware that these are notorious for the crackling audio issue. I've had two Legion 5s both with this problem. If you do experience this problem, try putting the transmit power of the wifi card on setting 4, it fixed the issue for me.
Apart from the hidden RAM slots, there's also an option without any HDD in it but with an even bigger battery.
Sadly that trade off may not be worth it with how big modern games can be. I mean yeah you can get massive m.2 drives but then it’s a cost to convince thing. Spinning rust is cheap.
@@OtioseFanatic lmao spinning rust, even i would prefer bigger battery if it wasn't at the cost of the hdd cuz i would keep the ssd in the laptop as just a boot drive but my laptop from 2008 only has around 300gigs on an hdd and it runs on an intel pentium with 2 GB ram and it has vista so and i would kill for a better laptop
Sata ssd?
@@kaneki1056 fair enough. I’m just saying that if you used this laptop for gaming as it’s product line would suggest, you are gonna need the extra 1tb of space just to hold a few games.
What I'd personally do, is get one with the bigger battery, and have a 1TB NVMe boot drive, and for the second drive, I'd buy either a cheaper 1TB or 2TB slower NVMe drive (i.e. WD Blue SN550, Crucial P1 or something) or a M.2 SATA drive.
