    Shane, been running it for 30K miles now. I've had to torque the ends twice in that time, but it's still going strong! It has handled everything I've bounced it off of like a champ.

    I tried a synergy, with my 35x12.50r17 Falkens it lastwd about 5k miles. I did a retorque as routine maintenence the second time, the first was because I noticed it getting a little loose. Both times it snugged right up and took out the little bit of wandering that I was seeing.

    ended up with a Fox steering stabilizer clamp. Works great!

    No problem! I'm going to be posting the follow up video in a few days, the one showing the torture testing that I have done...

    thanks Dave great info. Really, wow only 5k. what about it didn't last? did the ends loosen up? I thought those were some of the heaviest duty ends on the market

    what brackets did you use to mount the steering stabilizer?

    hi Dave wondering where's the update on how it's performed the last 7K miles?

  • @Sdibble2000

    did you have to torque the ends because you noticed sloppy feel in the steering or more of a preventative maintenance? what size tires have you been running for those 30K? I'm on 37s and my stock components are being thrashed VERY quickly. for me it's either this tie rod or the synergy one

    I just installed the teraflex TR and DL in my 2017 JK but draglink seems like its longer I can’t make it shorter from the adjustable sleeve to keep my steering wheel centered. The sleeve is max in i can extend it but cant make it shorter. Did u run in to that issue ? But I haven’t done the tierod alignment yet.

      Sorry for not seeing this sooner, but once everything else is lined up you should be able to center your steering. You can always call on a professional, but that takes the fund out of working on your own stuff!

      @@DaveMorganthall thanks for the reply but the issue i had was i had a dropped pitarm so thats why draglink was kinda big for it.

    Hey Dave, just got this kit. Did you grease the ball joints when you were done with the install? Or are they pre-greased? Thanks for any help you can offer. I heard you should grease the joint until it is slightly bulging in the boot.

    I'm assuming you have put the Terraflex rod through its paces?

    • @DaveMorganthall
      @DaveMorganthall  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, in short, yes. I drove nearly 75k miles, adjusting the ball joints about every 10k to keep them tight. It was scratched, bent, and otherwise "tested" excessively in rocks during that time. When I sold the Jeep, it was still installed and functioning well.

    Why measure to end of studs. The studs swivel so it's not accurate. Or did you measure to end of rod completely.

    • @DaveMorganthall
      @DaveMorganthall  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I am finally seeing my video comments, 5 years later, and you measure center of the stud because the casting of the ball joint ends are different than a stock tie rod end. This was just to get it "close". I drove the Baja Peninsula (round trip) before I got an actual alignment done...

    The ends failed on the synergy. In their defence, I wheeled it hard as hell in that time frame and may have contributed to the failure.

    should ends on tie rod be threaded exactly the same lengths

    • @DaveMorganthall
      @DaveMorganthall  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jim, as close as possible. It's not rocket surgery, but from an engineering standpoint you want to evenly distribute forces throughout the part as often as possible.

  • @DaveMorganthall

    They should be greased after installation is complete.

    Overkill on a stock jeep

      @DaveMorganthall  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, a stock Jeep can probably run stock parts. This Jeep wasn't left stock, nor was it treated nicely. That tie rod assembly took a hit from more than one Boulder the week it was installed

    What bracket did you end up using for the steering stabilizer
