Toyota Tacomas, FJ Cruisers, Land Cruisers, Tundras, 4runners, Lexus GX460, Lexus GX470. I hope you enjoy this fun adventure at South Padre Island with Coastal GX. I meet up with new and old friends, go off-roading, report on a flipped over Yukon/Suburban that crashed on the sand, rescue a truck and shoot drone video of a dolphin swimming feet away from shore.
So here's the story on the flipped over vehicle.....we were the ones in the tent down the way and saw when the accident had just happened. 5 young guys were in the vehicle with 3 dogs. The driver was drinking and hit a hole and lost control and they flipped over. They were all ok except for the bumps and glass cuts.
Thank you for sharing, John! Just pinned your comment 🙌🏽

Robert! I really appreciate what your doing here on your channel. My son moved down that way and I’m coming for my first visit in a few weeks. He wants to take advantage of my Tacoma and fish places like South Bay that he can’t access in his sports car. You have really given me all the information i need to be safe and successful. The way you help folks is inspiring. You are making a lot of people very happy and making this crazy world a better place one good deed at a time.
Thank you for the kind words. Your Taco will take you where you want to go. Hope y’all land your targets! 🎥

Some day Im gonna catch you out there. We go all the time and have looked for the Lexus but never have seen you.
I was there everyday. Drove up to the east cut each day too. I will be going back soon of course. So holler when u see me.
Hey Robert, long time listener, I did not know the capability of the GX till I started watching your videos. Six months ago I bought a 2016 GX. I added an Ironman lift and suspension upgrade and added 33” Toyo AT’s. It is one awesome vehicle. Duggie’s Toyota here in Houston is the premier Toyota modification garage here, if you ever have someone needing work, up this way. Someday we’ll make it down to South Padre. We make it to PINS several times a year. I’ve had one CJ, two Grand Wagoneers, so I have done a lot of off-roading in my 69 years on this earth. I also have a 2009 H3 Hummer Alpha with the 5.3L V8 with front and rear lockers that I’ve had down to the Mansfield Cut several times. Can’t wait to do it in my GX! Take care, Amigo, and maybe we’ll catch you down the trail.
Congratulations on your GX! Sounds like you have a good ride on your hands. Man, the Grand Wagoneer was such a regal truck to me growing up. It would’ve been nice to keep. I appreciate your viewership!!
Robert thanks for sharing. When you make it back out let us know we would love to follow you out to SPI. We did the TIFT tournament but did have anything worth it.
Message me through Instagram or Facebook so I can get your info.
Another awesome video brother 👍
Thank you, Rey. Nice meeting with y’all.
Salut-Coastal!thank you! splendid .
Thank you for watching 🎥🙏🏽
Awesome video man! Good seeing you out there.. i also got my yearly pass last month and have already used it 3 times .
We gotta hang out one day. Long overdue 🙌🏽🎥
I have 2007 tundra double cab 4x4 16 years old still running strong. 207,000 miles
Solid!! It’s a keeper.
Ponce mic a Rey!!!!!
La cage en post
You should have flipped the SUV over so it can be right side up. From the center door pillar, that would have been awesome for the video
I totally would’ve if the owner was there! Lol
Hopefully he got his 2$ trash deposit back?
@@elgastsos210 😂😂😂
Would be awesome to join you in October brother!
We need to bring in some massive brutes!! 🙌🏽🎥
@@CoastalGX definitely!
I'm sure that suburban was rusted because its a rust belt car, not necessarily a beach car. Hope they were ok...
I realized that when I was editing and meant to insert a comment, but then I got distracted and just decided to keep living my life 😂
A Chevy work truck in the rust/salt belt might last you 5-6 years. Check out South Main Auto, he's up in New York.
Great content if you like working on vehicles.
Definitely treat Sandy to an oil bath.
@@elgastsos210 yes, I've seen the content. Good stuff.
My 1999 Tacoma has 350,000 miles and still purrs like a kitten.
Izzy, check the engine bay; there’s probably a real cat in there 😂
Or a hot woman

Love your videos! New subscriber here. Do you have a video or can you make one on how to keep your rig from rusting out. Thank you.
Welcome, Bruce. I don’t have one solely dedicated to it, but I do mention tips in various videos. This is a good idea though, I will consider it.
Hey man glad to see you upgraded your suspension that old emu look cool, when i did this truck suspension in the bump stop i went whit supersprings and add a extension so it get closer to the diff and work aiding the springs , also have some manual spring bag helpers in case i need them i currently have the iron man lift kit but i order the one rated for more weight so far i have only towed a small trailer and it do really good, i dont even need to inflate the helper bags i am curios of what grade springs you have before i have a friend told that iron man send him the wrong grade back springs causing his truck squat like yours when towing but after changing the rear springs got corrected , i rarely tow whit my gx but your video make me question if i have the wright rear springs i only have tow 2 trailers one have a tongue weight around 150# and whit that one it dont even flex, but the other one i have is right around 600 # i just hooked up that one and it definitely squat lol , i nedd to find one trailer around 350-400#tw to test, can you share the details of your suspension i will like to know what grade are rated those old emu , what grade you have before and whats your tongue weight of your trailer, thx.
I went with the OME heavy springs and the timbren SES bump stops. I had the Ironman lift with stock load springs before I started loading it up and modifying it. The issue was clearly the springs; now it works as it should.
@@CoastalGX thanks !
Can you share a good spot to flight a fishing drone with out getting on trouble on SPI
Any county controlled beach area should be ok. What kind of drone do you have?
Just purchased the swell pro fd1
For bait deployment
How do you think a 2018 GX 460 with the rear air bags stock with 18-inch wheels and Michelin Defender LTX M/S would do in the upper part of the beach? I just drove our 2021 Tacoma OR with stock tires aired down on Matagorda Beach a month ago and the sand tracks in the upper area were 4-8 inches deep. It did well and I pulled out a Porsche! Wondering if we can manage that in the GX stock since I'd prefer to never remove the airbags (we plan to tow a small trailer) but will take it on the beach. Don't want to get trapped at high tide.
Side question - How do you judge clearance in sand? Can you 'push through' areas of sand that hit your bottom or do you absolutely need to be above the sand?
Thanks!
A stock GX with deflated and stock tires will dominate out there. That’s how I started. The problem was the clearance. So much sand, seashells, seaweed and who knows what would wedge itself into the frame and pretty much anything. Now with the few inches of lift, there is so much less to clean up. Also, there are sneaky things out there like driftwood and even slabs of concrete that blend with the sand. If you are traveling too fast and don’t pay attention, you can tear up your underbelly. I know of at least one person that tore up his oil pan when he hit a log.
@@CoastalGX thanks for the insight. I noticed the debris on Matagorda, which meant I couldn't always follow defined tracks or the tracks weren't straight, which mean there was possibility for getting out of the tracks/ruts and that made me a bit nervous. Glad to hear stock suspension height should generally be good, aside from a bit more hassle cleaning. We don't have the opportunity to go often, so that's not a big concern for me.
What do most folks with stock 18" wheels deflate to for the GX? I won't have any equipment, except maybe a roof rack. two small kids and wife plus day gear for the beach.
@@lee4160 I used to go down to 20psi with my original wheels and tires. Now I push it to 14 or even lower with the Method wheels. Have fun!
Hey Robert - is there any reason why the toyotas seem to be more popular than other vehicles? was thinking of getting a Ram 4x4 but everytime I see a vehicle being recovered, its a Ram (lol)
I think of cars as tools. They are all useful for certain applications. A Dodge Ram with a powerful Cummins diesel engine would be great for towing, but too heavy in deep soft sand at low speeds. Toyotas are generally known for their reliability, but most owners also tend to take good care of them (which probably contributes to the long lasting reputation.) I personally choose Lexus and Toyotas but I would probably be rolling in a Mercedes Gwagon if I was rich 😂
How did that yukon end up like that?????????
It’s a mystery to me 🤷🏽♂️🤔😂
@@CoastalGX please find out… I need to be able to sleep at night
@@sportsbro2220 LMAO. Just a straight up accident, go to sleep. 😄
