On Fathers Knows Best TV show of the 50's son Bud allowance was $1.25 (in 2021 dollar value about $14.00 a week).

@@goldtentee wow mine was 35 cents a week but I spent spare time finding deposit pop bottles thrown away or in ditches and sometimes made anywhere from 25 cents to over 50 cents a day (early 1960s)

$464 per month in 2021 would be $4,709, meaning $56,508 a year. An LAPD sergeant makes much more than that these days. Either the cost of living in Los Angeles went up more than the general CPI (which is how I computed the inflation), police officers simply got paid less, or Jack Webb understated how much he earned in keeping with his goal of evoking respect for the police through his show and movies.
His take home of $356.76 is $3,620.69 per month today, meaning $43,448 per year.
His computation of $1.82 per hours is based on his take-home, using an average of 24.5 days worked per month, at 8 hours per day, meaning he works 5 or 6 days a week. But, we all know he and Frank often work very long hours, so his hourly must be much lower.

@@STP43FAN1 Correct. Max Troy died from his ailment before Sgt. Friday & Ofc. Smith could arrest him.
