The elites are better in my opinion, but on a rare occasion, have made some noise in rear applications when going in reverse. Otherwise, they stop better, last longer and work really well in cars and light duty trucks. I have also started using the DL severe duty pads on trucks(250+ or 2500+) and they make less dust than OEM and stop just as well if not better.
Duralast GT is discontinued. It didn't last long. I talked to someone at Autozone on the phone 1-800 number about it who complained that they didn't think it was marketed enough and that they thought no one knew that pad existed.
Ahhh yes when brake pads get really hot they smell it depends on how someone drives my elites pads starting smell stopping 90ish down to 0 but normal driven no problems
@@master6435 ah ok cool then it's normal I was already starting to worry next time I need brakes I'm going with akebono I've always used them I decided to try AutoZone brand but I like akebono better
@@BenDover-lx1gh hmm yeah this time I went with Duralast Elite pads for front and rear. My previous pads were Akebono paired with take performance slotted and dimpled rotors. The old setup was done in 2018 and not sure offhand how many miles but the right rear inboard pad wore down to metal. Thought I would have a warning but there is no metal wear shim so it just went all the way tk metal backplate against rotor. All other pads had some life still though started to show some small cracking so I'm glad I changed them. I live in New York State so we get cold weather. They held up good. For my new Duralast Elite pads I kept the rotors as they still had plenty of life it liked like. The rotor that had the one side grinding the pads metal backplate didn't happen for a long time. On all rotors I wore brushed them, cleaned with brake parts cleaner, lubed slide pins, and installed successfully. So far the new pads are working great. Will be monitoring them as usual. I have a 2015 WRX.
Just FYI the Duralast Gt and Max line pads is discontinued and the good Duralast MKD/D line, better is Duralast Gold line and finally best is Duralast Elites line of brake pads (Year 2021)
For my 2007 tahoe I went to warranty the semi metallic duralast max pads and they no longer carry semi metallic max so they gave me the ceramic elites which is not bad but I rather have semi metallics next time I will shop elsewere sinse semi metallic are better for trucks stopping and have had better experience with them.
I think it's annoying they do Duralast Gold as ceramic and not also offer a semi-metallic version. As they market the Gold as OEM, when my car didn't come with ceramic pads.
@@Keyno77 I have installed probably 50+ sets of Elite brake pads on Ram 1500s and haven't had one complaint. I also install Powerstop Z36 extreme duty Carbon Fiber Ceramic pads on all of the fleets of commercial trucks, vans and full size SUVs I service and have had zero complaints. Semi-metallic pads, just as ceramic pads, are not all created equal.

Duralast max got discoed only available in Mexico I could be wrong and duralast elite are nice and affordable
Duralast GT also discontiued.
I put Max pads on my 2001 Deville. I will buy Bosch pads next time.
FF is not the highest rating. I've had pads at GH, and GG are better than FF.
