I know this is old, but the piece that broke off isnt a diode. Thats an electrical component that limits or cuts down voltage. What broke off is the ground strap. Super common with RS7 plugs. Always keep up with basic maintenance.
Definitely a hard lesson learned. It's been over two years and I still have the thing but I moved away from it so it's been sitting. Keeps me up at night thinking about it 😅😅😅
@@TTRGARAGE haha theres no way you can just call up Vw and let them know your rare occurrence and see if there is a solution they can provide on their end for your car? I think it would be worth a try. These cars are great but I see why this is a nightmare.
Had the same issue with my old golf 6 gti also on 4th cylinder and it happened 2 times but the second time it didnt somehow blow up my engine the tip of spark plug was melted😂 i got new spark plugs better ones and i changed all injectors after that i had no issues with it anymore
Dang bro, i mean you’re already in a bind. You can get another stock motor and then rebuild the motor that’s blown on the side. I know each option is expensive none the less but you already have the car. U might as well try to fix it
Man I feel you I was in a similar situation where my daily blew up and I was left without a car for 2 weeks. I chose to get my civic up and going bc it was the easiest to get me around until I got the funds to fix my other car. I think you are going to have to take the head of the car to be sure of what happened. I think the valves probably smashed the spark plug tip, so you might need to take the head to a machine shop and get new valves.
@TTR_GARAGE if you get a car on finance the company who borrowed you the money as to repair the car for Major malfunctions like the engine blowing up. The finance company won't repair any wear and tear items like tyres and window wipers. If you finance a car for 5 years it as to last that long. So you need to phone them and tell them this.
Sorry about your luck broski. Personal I would get rid of the car in the long run. Maybe see how much it would cost to get a swap but even after that sell it. VW are cool cars but man I wouldn't own one again. I would get a daily that is just that a daily. I always say when you buy a new (used) car always change the oil, Air filter and spark plugs first thing. Sorry again for your luck hope things work out for you.

How is burning a lot of oil a symptom of bad plugs🤨 Oil consumption has nothing to do with the plug side, would be ring/piston side.
Fuck bro! I’m so sorry to hear. These are my dream cars
Your dream is my nightmare 😂

My entire cylinder was completely seized yet it never threw a code
That's really wild, I never thought a plug tip could break off like that.
Also didn't think it could destroy an engine 🙃
I had the same in 2018 its because the chiptune and old sparkplug but the reason is a bad tunesoftware

I'm leaning on just replacing the whole engine. Unfortunately I have so much going on in my life this is taking a toll on me
Can get a light stream loan on the car if you own it already.
@@TTRGARAGE I feel u
That's the issue 😬

I think I'm leaning on getting a whole new engine. But in the mean time I gotta make my civic my daily 😅
did you gap the plugs yourself??
I actually got the car used. I looked everything over except the plugs. 100% expected to see stock plugs
@@TTRGARAGE dang dude, iv just watched all the golf r videos? is it still at your old home? are you still paying for it? or is it gone now???
It's still at my old place and yes I'm still ming payments on it 😢
Hey man what spark plugs did you have in the car at the time when the electrode cracked off??
I never upgraded or changed them when I bought the car so I'm not too sure. But a couple people said they looked like the rs7 ones
@@TTRGARAGE Very common with rs7 plugs not the cars fault that’s all on those plugs. I recommend DENSO or NGK
Burning lots of oil… is it smoking? Loss of power… maybe do a compression test, see if you might have bad rings.
Compression in cylinder 4 was 30 psi
@@TTRGARAGE wow. No good. Rings for sure.
If your car is on finance they should pay for a new engine for you
It's a used car so it's a bit different

New spark plugs and trade it in for a different car 😁😆🤣

I don't think I can get just a daily and not modify it 😂 I got big plans after she's up again so get ready
