The aim was to fix the VW Golf R MK7.5 & now its back on the road the goal has change to make the car as quick as possible with some modifications.I want it to beat my Lamborghini in a race. In the previous video i fitted all the parts ready for a stage 2 tune, induction kit, intercooler and downpipe. Theres one thing i was missing and that was a exhaust system! I fitted a full @scorpionexhaustsyt & its insanely loud 😂 Lets see if the performance has increased.
I take the golf out for a drive with @Phil-cooper at the end to see what he thinks!

Defo just been fun since the first video and Mat makes it look easy with his experience and energy considering it would be the opposite. Been far more connected to this build video than the Maserati think it’s because I would actively buy this car where as a Maserati no.

I love the sound of the EA888 G3 engine. I love the throaty rumble it has.
I think any exhaust on the MQB platform is best served with a resonator to keep some of the harsher exhaust tones in check, and let the bass of the exhaust go through.

i have a very similar kind if setup. track-slag 4” decat downpipe into a full built race system basically copied from the scorpion for maximum deepness and loudness. scorpion for me is def the best fir this car off the shelf system without a doubt! love it

I fitted my scorpion exhaust today too although I went with the resonated centre section and it’s perfect for day to day use noise wise and i got the bigger carbon tips available from scorpion too.

From humble beginnings to here and now. Still humble. MA is quite deservedly killin' it on TH-cam right now. Fair play 👍
OEM exhausts tend to be pretty efficient these days ... my 5.0L XKR (Supercharged - 550HP out of the factory) showed minus 5HP after a b4 n after dyno session. Seen it with other cars I've owned before - negligible if any gains. Sounds better though which is the main reason for doing it.

Hahahaha lovin it. Would it be an idea to go for the more expensive exhaust system which does have valves? That way you could keep it inconspicuous when necessary and turn to all hell mode whenever you feel like it?

There’s someone up my way with one that’s had a decat plus full 3” turbo back and it’s loud as hell under load! Sounds nice just driving low revs but under load it’s epic 👌🏻

If you take out the sound deadening from under the bonnet it makes the induction noises well more noticeable

Yup sounds so insane like that and i really do love the turbo whistle!
The exhaust looks good, but a little quiet for me. I used to have a MKV GTI and had a full stainless system on that and didn't sound too hot at idle, but at 6-7000RPM, it was as amazing as a 4-cyl could sound. With no visual mods, a tuned Golf R would be a total sleeper.
