    What a cool concept! I loved hearing about how the idea for this event came to be. And the aesthetics for all four cultural groups are amazing 🙌🏻

    This was easily one of the most intense, fun and exciting experiences I've ever had! Incredible story, amazing costuming, immersive characterizations, epic battles, unbeatable friendship, the chance to write the story you're living; I can't wait for the next one!

    I'm really happy to have found channels that found this larp. I thought I wouldn't be able to find one that fits my wants but so far the Reckoning LARP sounds great and it's so close to me. A state away is not bad at all considering I have family that lives in that state that I visit.
    It's pretty much right next door and like a few hours drive. I'll be gearing up for it hopefully next year.

    As a new(ish) LARPer I love to hear about a more immersive roleplay (that’s actually close to my hometown!)
    I currently do some medieval combat LARPS that I am yearning for more immersion on! I will definitely have to try to make it out next year!!!

    I just missed your event and I guess if it's annual for now hopefully I will see you all next year. Though I would love for a fall event so I don't have to wait a whole year 😭 regardless myself and a fellow dnd party member are looking to attend the next event whenever it will be and have already started thinking of characters and travel

    I really want to come do this with the family, but I have two questions.
    1. Is it family friendly for 15 year old?
    2. Do I have to speak old English the whole time we're there? This is the part that worries my family.
    Thanks!

    • @LarpShire
      @LarpShire  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you’re interested! First, speaking in old English is definitely not a requirement. While some folks speak a bit more formally/dramatically than they would in real life, almost no one is throwing around “thees” and “thous” and “ye oldes” :)

    • @LarpShire

      Secondly, the statement below regarding age is straight from Reckoning’s website

    • @LarpShire
      @LarpShire  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      “All attendees of the RECKONING must be at least 16 years of age. Any attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied with an adult guardian who is also attending the event. No guardian can be responsible for more than two minors in attendance.”

    Curious about the Artisan class. As noncombatants, what would they be expected to do if/when combat were to break out near them? Just running for cover and letting others do all of the fighting seems like it might not be all that satisfying, but I'm not sure what a spellscribe for example would be able to do.
    And by extension, which of the artisans were more or less common during this past event?

    • @LarpShire
      @LarpShire  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! Non-combatants were usually fairly active on the outskirts of battles healing people or selling items but they are encouraged not to be right in the middle of the fray so they don’t accidentally get attacked. I think generally there were a lot of bone-knitters, not as many potions smiths, and fairly few spell scribes.

    I've never done larp before, but I've been to Ren Faires and done plenty of TTRPGs with people. I saw this as a random YT recommendation and this piqued my interest. What are good places to start looking for info on larp costumes and safe equipment/gear for the hobby?

    • @LarpShire
      @LarpShire  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Glad to hear you’re interested in the hobby! There are a lot of great resources on TH-cam. The channels Living Anachronism and Skill Tree are friends of mine and they have a lot of great content. Living Anachronism has a video called “Medieval Costume DIY | Starter LARP/Fair Outfit for $0” which would be a good place to start. Skill Tree has a ton of crafting videos if your into making your own armor/accessories. Medieval Collectibles and Calimacil are the two online stores I buy most of my equipment from. Here on our channel we are going to start pumping out a lot of new content for new LARPers as well as for people wanting to start a local LARP so stay tuned for that. I’m always happy to answer questions if you have any!

    I have been diving into the world of LARP and would love to try going to my very first. but I have high anxiety in large groups. So I was thinking a concept of a cook and food providing type character so I could bring something i love to the game while having a cannon reason for staying near my tent. Costly but I would bring a mini camp kitchen, meats, eggs, fruits, dry fruit and meats, cheese, oats, energy drink powders, and toooons of water. Would there any place for a character like mine at a LARP? or should I still to regular festivals?

    • @LarpShire
      @LarpShire  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That sounds like a great idea! I definitely think there’s a place for a character like that at most LARPs

  • @Hathathorne
    @Hathathorne 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I always wanted a eccentric billionaire to buy 50,000 acres of land and create a low fantasy larp amusement park with full time NPC employees that live and work there. Creating jewelery, real functional armor, and crafts to export out. Living in medieval houses (with some modern conveniences) And you must be fit, know how to fight, and sign a waiver if you want to enter as an adventurer. Bandits and people dressed like monsters would be out in the wilds and will attack you with the intent to bruise, the danger will be real and it will hurt.. Literally westworld but for medieval. Instead of some campgrounds with huts thats as a event area, it will be dedicated medieval city with 100+ buildings, a smaller town, and several villages. All the houses can be broken into, using inworld old style lock picking or burglary techniques, into a dedicated larp area of the house while NPC employees live in a high security safe part of the house where visitors cannot enter or break into.
