Lightyear Frontier | My Early Review and Should You Buy in 2024

- Lightyear Frontier is a cozy, farming, sci-fi, building game that can be played solo or in up to 4 player co-op. It has some Slime Rancher, Stardew Valley, and even Satisfactory vibes ;) I have really found Lightyear Frontier to be chill and fun so far and although it is just coming out of Early Access and I have only put a few hours in, I thought I would give an early review! In this review, I will give the game a grade based on the categories of Fun, Controls, Systems and UI, Story, Visuals, Audio, and Style. I also will make a determination on if you should buy the game, based on the type of game it is, the difficulty, value, and replayability.

the last survival game that was based around mechs that i know of was abandoned in it's beta phase like around 2016-2018 ish
It's cool that this one made it all the way throught The mecs look awesome imo. Cartoony and tractor-y, but it fits for a farming sim ;D

Yes! This is true! I'm not sure if the early version I was playing was changed on day 1 or if i was wrong, but you are correct. The range is pretty nice too!
Stardew valley +300 hours and i can keep going. Lightyear Frontier i played for 20 hours and than there is nothing more to do. The Devs need to bring a bit of grind into it like a fuelsystem that can be used to boost your mech for a short time(faster stronger you know). And i want something like a Bossanimal, like a Vulcan turtle which you need to water with your gun to stun to get super rare resources. Make it able to bash you when you approach it with the mech but on foot you are able to feed it. That would be so awesome, cause Lightyear frontier feels lifeless even with its beautiful world. And they need to overthink the plow. It feels useless and not worth the gathering of resources. And i want to go in the House for real. 😄

I am with you here. I loved the first 20 or so hours like you say in this game, but haven't touched it in a while, waiting for more content or something to keep me in for the long haul. It's a beautiful and fun game, but it's not as long as SDV. Not that every game needs to be 100s of hours long! But it's good to mention that this is not a super long game.

what did you have an issue with? i use an xbox controller on pc and didn't notice any control problems.
