On stopping to enjoy the views: For over 30 years I was involved with Search and Rescue operations. I had to "hurry up and get there" just about every time I was in the woods. However, now that I'm retired whenever I get out hiking and backpacking I take my time. If it takes me two or three hours to go a mile or two, so be it. Bottom line: take your time and soak in all the views along the way. You won't regret that decision.
Marissa, Whether you know it or not or like it or not, you are the 2024 Badbat. You are so real and genuine and show your genuine personality. I'm following every day and I'm rooting for every step of the way. Know that we are behind you and supporting you.
I love that you are sharing the gorgeous views with us!! This hike is for YOU! What brings you joy on those hard days! And I can tell it's the beauty and majesty around you!
Congratulations on 100 miles. Take your time, experience all of it. Practice using your 5 senses to take in everything, there is so much that people miss by hurrying.
Cheers to the competition of mile 100 of your formable hike. May you achieve the happiness you desire. Thanks for the informative update. Wishing you safe passage and success. Happy Trails!
CONGRATULATIONS on your 1st hundred! You are a rock/mountain star!! My wife and I appreciate your willingness to share so openly regarding what you are feeling, and your love for the Lord. We will continue to pray for your safety and joy! He's got you!... and has so much to give you as you continue to trust Him.
Congrats on this great milestone!! I think hiking at your own pace during the day but camping with your friends at night is a great compromise to enjoy both the trail itself and the social life of the trail.
I understand your dilemma of friends or views. I hiked Kilimanjaro with a friend & whilst he was focused on the summit I was enjoying the journey and views. In fact the highlight for me was not the summit but the “stops” along the way. Each to their own and Im sure you’ll find in your heart what’s important to you 😊
Great job hitting that 100 mile milestone. Definitely, stop and enjoy the views, you never know if you'll ever get the chance to stop and see it again. So, enjoy it. Ohhh and congrats on two long days too!
I know I'm way behind, still playing catch up so I am avoiding watching ahead... I hope you continue to take your time and enjoy the trail - that's the way I enjoy hiking, so I'm always slow, but I've made my peace with that. LOL My point it, I am enjoying your pace, your videos, and your positivity!
Congratulations on this milestone! I really love that you are going at a pace that allows you to enjoy the trail itself and not as something to get over with as quickly as possible.
Congratulations on 100 miles! What a beautiful view. I don't think you can go wrong when you slow down to take in every aspect of the Trail, especially when you can catch up with friends at night. Friendships can come and go on the trail or off, but hiking the trail might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I would ask God to match up the who and when of social relationships. He knows you better than you know yourself 🥰. PS:Thanks again for updating us with the short post that things are much better now in real time.
Congratulations 🎉 on the 100 miles. Your views on hiking are perfect. Soak in the views and hike what is a good pace for YOU! Youll see so many beautiful views and trail scenery. Thats one thing early hikersmiss out on, the magnificent blooming of the trail as you go north. Take care of yourself and be safe out there! God Bless😊
I like your opinion or observation of the trail experience 😀. I see you have a Zoloe device which recently purchased an have used on section hike of the AT. I like the device so far. Nice walk today an views thanks.
