I'm still not a fan of the EQ series styling. I get that it's for aerodynamics, but for some reason they still seem like an afterthought to me. It still seems like a pretty practical car though and I feel that they'll be customers that will prefer the Mercedes interior compared to its rivals. The range should be enough for most people, and it'll probably sell some units in places with charging infrastructure.
I had the GLB for a test drive and was impressed by the ride quality (suspension). It felt like a flying carpet, really. Anyway, as a German I do not trust the long term quality of German brands anymore and will stick to Honda. And regular hybrid, no EV.
I don't like it and neither the idea of using an ICE platform for EVs. And not just because of the front boot, or the lack thereof. It's pointless and silly, because the chassis is the only thing they keep. The body is different to be more aerodynamic, the suspensions are different to take the extra weight, the powertrain is different for obvious reason. That's all money for R&D. They might as well spend the extra buck and deliver a modular EV platform.
@@MarekDrivesENG thanks! impressive... v good review as usual 👌 and 👏 for spotting what others don't dare to. I seem 18 x 100km quite good and the motorway also better than the competition
Interesting! There's something a bit chintzy and flimsy about Merc interiors (that rear arm rest will break in no time by the looks), but I'm sure it will sell well enough.
The idea of compact premium cars is to keep the price low, but steal some of the high-trim volume car buyers, who like the badge. Remember the Mercedes 190?
@@MarekDrivesENG Marek. Sorry you are wrong. The Mercedes Benz 190 was as well built as any more expensive Mercedes of the time. Mercedes spent 10 years developing the 190 and it was a very well built reliable car. Today Mercedes Benz is just a posh badge. Unless you want the posh badge you are wasting your money buying a Mercedes due to poor build, average reliability and so so customer service. Companies like KIA have improved immensely over the last 20 years however Mercedes have gone backwards and in many cases are no better or worse than mainstream manufacturers.
@Bond, James Bond yes, and no. From a business case perspective it was the same basic principle: get more people into the brand. Back then the Mercedes way may have been to over-engineer stuff, which probably wasn't making them enough money. These days they are getting even more business thanks to (unfortunately) lower quality and better financing. It's not about the customer. It's about the shareholder.
@@MarekDrivesENG Yes you are right. Also due to superior customer care, reliability and better engineering my money would always go to Lexus (they too have shareholders to please.) I get what you are saying about shareholders but there is no excuse for Mercedes poor reliability and Customer service. The general public buy this brand with rose tinted glasses. More fool them.
LUV the sarcasm… need to keep it light ;-). Would you wait for the EQC or EQE? I’m currently driving a GLE and want to get an EQB. Will I be disappointed ?
Yeah, but they only had a handful of "Launch Editions" here in the UK - I'd rather have it with 360 cam, HUD and mem seats than not! Hence the turn-off!
Clearly Mercedes doesn't care about EVs. The only one they have brought to Canada is the EQS starting at 146.5k CAD. They say the EQB and EQE are coming, but I'll believe it when I see it. Also, I expect the prices to be ridiculous so I'm standing by to mock them when they are announced. Part of me thinks, huh the EQB sorry the GLB is the most practical, reasonable Mercedes but then I see that Ninja turtle, or top hat, top heavy side profile.... and I remember that it kind of feels odd. So sure be practical but know you aren't looking cool with this thing in anyway. Yah I'm talking about you, the other dad who owns one at my daughter's school. ;).
As a new subscriver looking at older videos i'ts hard to know what year the car you are testing is from. So why not tell your subscribers the modelyear of the car you are testing in future videos? If you are only testing new cars i'ts easy to see when the video is made but when testning used cars i'ts not so easy to see the age of the car.
I was going to buy one but had a test drive and it was very disappointing uncomfortable seat, manual adjustment and a bit plastic inside Plenty of room inside when driving I felt like I was in a transit and a bit boxy I liked the look etc and I thought the test drive would be just a boxing ticking exercise not for me unfortunately
Yes, speccing a Mercedes is going from expensive to horrendously expensive. Also, half the options are unavailable, because of chip shortage, and remaining options are bundles, so you end up overpaying. Same thing in most premium brands these days unfortunately.
Love the review. It definitely looks better than the GLB but an electric Merc GLS equivalent or a BMW X7 is what would tickle me as they have got bigger capacity
I'll be brutally honest here! 😅 I like the Fabia"s design even more than the Octavia's! In my pov is the second best looking car ( after Superb ) in Skoda's range ( because I hate the new SUV madness 😐 )
No Don't buy it..Car is great, but there is a issue with connection on Electrify America charging station, Mercedess sells the car with 2 Year free charging but when you have issue so no reason to buy this car, this was the 2nd EV car i bought in 6 months, first one is EQS which I love it But Not EQB, which has been at the shop for 3 weeks, and today they admit their problem. @Mercedess was dishonest on this car.
How do I like it? I don't like it, really. If you want an EV, Tesla is still the only way to go in 2022. Model Y Long Range will perform better in many scenarios for slightly less money. Only reason I'm posting a comment so late in the night is that I just returned from my UK roadtrip in my Tesla. In two weeks I spent around EUR 80 on charging. Today, on the drive back from London we spent 50 minutes charging. I am not sure you can do that in the EQB.
I agree with most of your statements, but I don't understand this one. Why is not a good car objectively speaking? I don't like my car 100% either, but I wouldn't say it's not good. Thanks.
@Nemanja Pantelic perhaps I should be even more vague, and say some cars are better than Tesla at being just cars, although they are not as good at being electric cars :) No offence, I find Tesla meh as a car. I've driven a Model S and a Model 3 on several occasions, and they felt rough around the edges, as far as fit and finish was concerned. The driving experience was uninspiring, which I'm sure is fine for many people, who just need to get from A to B. However one of the Model 3s I experienced has been riddled with problems. The people using it on daily basis (it's owned by one the companies that sponsored my Polish channel, and the employees use it as part of their business operation) can't stop complaining how many problems they encounter with it, and how crap the service is.
@@MarekDrivesENG Tesla is a really difficult topic, in my opinion mostly due to people discussing it. I feel there isn't enough objectivity on either side. The reasons are many. Best not to open that can of worms. I do respect your opinion and we can't agree on everything, but objectively speaking, the noise levels during highway driving are really high and the ride is harsh in a Tesla. The car came from the factory with a couple of tiny issues, but they were taken care of without discomfort. One part had to be replaced within the first month of ownership, but it did not affect driving/safety. No other issues since then (30.000km). Anecdotal evidence is not reliable, as I'm sure you know. When I bought my Volvo V90 Cross Country in 2017, the buttons in the trunk for electronic seat folding were not connected. It took a while for Volvo to solve the water ingress issue in the passenger footwell. After one year, the built-in modem lost connectivity due to a buggy update. Around the same time, I complained of vibrations when accelerating, so all axels and the drive shaft were replaced. One year later, haldex had to be replaced too. Despite these issues, I loved that car as much as a reasonably healthy person could. I was always happy to get in and drive it. Someone else might have been really pissed off by this and hated the Volvo.

Happy to share ..its coming here soon too !
How do I like the EQB? I think Mercedes should stick to making the E, G and Sprinter. I never got the hang of the FWD based Mercs.
Is it good option as a used car for 30k euro?

I'm not sure there is anything attractive about this car besides the brand Mercedes. Better get a Model Y, Ioniq 5 or Skoda Enyaq
