let us know if the charging issue mentioned becomes a problem. With 90%+ of EV owners charging at home, chargring speed is really a non-issue for most owners.
@@CSAFMedia I have a level two charger and did a trip to Palm Springs and back which was about 180 miles, some in town driving there too, I left with 100% and got back with 20% or about 48 miles. It worked out pretty well for my use case as I don’t really do long road trips.
@@AmitPatel_. I did. Every dealer I checked out on that had a 5-10k markup on the car and I couldn’t bring myself to pay extra to line the pockets of the dealership. I got the EQB 350 at MSRP and that to me was a good deal.
Test drove EQB back-to-back with GV60. As so often happens, specs only tell part of the story. On paper it's the GV60 all day with gaudy charging numbers and Macan-like looks. The reality is if you don't need the GV60's peaks of range, speed and charging, the EQB gives you much more usable passenger cabin, more practical space behind the back seats, less gussied up plastic trim, and all for the same price or less depending on spec. It's definitely a subjective thing, but I came in thinking GV60 couldn't be beat and left with a flat impression of the Genesis and appreciating the practicality of the EQB despite it not ticking the boxes on paper.
Good to read… very difficult to find the Genesis, Hyundai or Kia yet so many TH-camrs seem to go purely on the numbers and not feel. We drove Model Y and EQB today and while the Y felt faster, we through that MB had more usable room and enjoyed the appearance and tech in the MB.
100%. I did 40k miles in my Ioniq5 and replaced it with the Lexus RZ. On paper the Ioniq is a much better EV, but I live in a warm climate, barely do more than 50 miles a day. So don't need the range and faster charging. Lexus has better suspension/ride, great Mark Levinson stereo, higher quality cabin. It's always about the use case for the individual. Specs don't tell the story.
I live in Europe, no Genesis to compare, but BMW and all the Korean and Chinese cars, plus Tesla. Nothing beats the comfort of Mercedes. I ordered a full spec 250+ AMG line, it has got it all. Enough speed since I an no race car driver and would like to keep my license. Still much quicker than most ICEs. It has the adaptable suspension with 20” rims, no leaning there but still comfort and the exquisite Burmester sound system with 750 watts and Dolby Atmos. Add the MBUX system to that and there really isn’t much that can beat this, unless you need to be on a smaller budget. It is expensive indeed looking at the investment. Value for money, not expensive at all. Oh and the charging, other brands claim higher peak charging, but most don’t have a flat curve like this car. 10 to 80% in 30 minutes is the standard on this Voltage platforms, no matter the peak speed. That’s all marketing.
As Roman Micah says, this is the golden age of EVs. One of the reasons is cars like this coming out where the implementation is surprisingly good. The manufacturers are really figuring out how to build good EVs and now are messing around with recipes on what works, what doesn’t, and what the markets want.
Glad to see you review the EQB. Definitely want to see the range test and the charging test. Your description of the size being similar to the Model Y means my wife will probably pass on this and hold out for the Volvo EX 90.
Great video! I can’t help but wondering why someone wouldn’t spend a couple thousand more and buy a Cadillac Lyriq. Can’t wait to see your videos on the Lyriq!
Most reviewers seem to ignore the day to day dependability of the software based features, which is fair because they only get it for a short while but a longer term review should take this into account! I'd say the biggest advantage Mercedes EQ has over the other manufacturers like GV60 or ID4 is their software. At least on my EQS, the software has performed flawlessly. No hanging, rebooting, quirks to work around or "promised" features that are continually delayed, etc. All of the features work on day 1 and they work well. Little touches like ADAS doing a great job in most situations, sailing/recuperating/driving really well and the dependability of MBUX are heads and shoulders ahead of the competition.
Mercedes is extremely conservative with its numbers. Especially with range. I've heard of many EVs with supposedly large ranges not actually doing very well in terms of efficiency or how they handle cold weather. CarWow does tests of Electric SUVs and runs them until dead and they all get around 220-240 miles, mostly due to weight. As for the ride quality, the 300 has 18 inch tires and a noticeably softer ride. I'm sad, though, that his version had none of the HUD or tech package features. It's a major selling point as it's basically a slightly simpler version found on the S class.
The thing for us in the UK is that literally the only other 7 seater available to us that isn’t a Van, is the Model X. There’s rumour of a 7 seater Model Y coming here, but from the videos I’ve seen the back two seats look like even more of a squeeze than the EQB. Highly likely to order this next month
Test drove the EQB 300 about three weeks ago at my local dealer. Wife and I really liked it but that 100kw charging speed is slow and is what killed the deal. Definitely will watch your next video also to hear your opinion on the charging.
I personally like that all of the supporting systems such as air conditioning, wipers, and so on are all up front and not tucked into dealer-only accessible areas or beneath a "frunk" floor that can maybe fit.. a small carry on? It actually looks like it would be extremely easy for a mechanic to service. Yes, they could have put a fancy cover over all of that but.. why waste the money? BUT.. the big hat trick is the HUD and improved navigation system. It's basically lifted from the previous gen S class and is superb - a massive upgrade from the GLB. Also, the GLB had piles of options and it was nearly impossible to get the full "safety package" with all the sensors that most cars have now, due to them not wanting to make it as upscale as the GLC. This - it's basically all the goodies you get in the gas version of the GLC. Radar, lane assist, parking assist.. One checkbox, so most will have it added by the dealer, which is fantastic.
about wind noise: Get a purple panda mic, it will plug into iphone with a lightning to 2.5 (I think) adapter you can get from apple or 3rd party ppl. It has the "dead cat" and it will clip on to the phone, so It'll improve the sound and won't really get on the way.
Great review, it is a little bit of the ugly duckling on paper that turns into a beautiful swan when you drive it. I have driven and ordered the EQB with the adaptive suspension and it is great, still comfort even with 20” rims and composed in sport mode. Perfect! Charging takes 30 minutes from 10 to 80% as every other competitor does no matter the peak speed. I ordered the 250+ which has a range of almost 500 kms in real life at 20 degrees Celsius. 310 miles at 68 F. More than enough!
I really like the look of it, and I like that it has great cargo space. But for about the same money I could get a GV60 with the ultra-fast charging, and I think that's enough to sway me.

Thank you for the review. Enjoy your video. I am about at a point have to take delivery on the Model Y or forfeit the deposit. Now come upon your video. How do you rate the GLB vs Model-Y? Tesla's continuous development of the FSD is the main reason and feature we find will be a big help for us. With this said. What is/are your opinion/s? Thank you in advance!
I put a non-refundable deposit down on an EQB 350 back in June based off of the European reviews. This cements that I made the right choice: still will get the tax credits under the IRA’s transition rule, don’t need DC fast charging at all actually given my use case, the third row of seats is key for my young kids, and general feel and quality matter to me.
I’m interested in the EQB, but would like to know if you tried out the driver assist features - especially in stop-and-go traffic. Looks like the EQB only has the Driver Assistance Package - LITE available, which does not feature stop-and-go functionality. Of course the car salesman assured me it DOES work in rush hour traffic…😂. However, before I sell my Model Y and buy this car, I need to know for certain.
I have an EQB and mine does have the Stop-and-Go (unlike the Merc that I drove before). Beware, it does look like a very specific spec when I look the car up based on VIN. The spec code is K33. So it might be possible that they don't all have it.
Great: Cockpit and Backend. Ample head Room and Trunk Space when optioned as 2 seater. Not Good: Low Range; Charging Speed, Small and Low 2nd row Seats lacking thigh support even though head room is ample(may be after market thigh bolsters in 2nd row will help). 2nd Row cramped for 3 adults and comfortable for 2. 3rd Row seats are even smaller and more cramped. Standard Driver Aids cost extra.
7:16 I think a charge door covering a charge door is bad design. Other manufacturers have managed to integrate the dust/weather seal into the main door as to not have a secondary door underneath.
I don't know why other manufacturers aren't just retrofitting their gas cars into electric, seems more reasonable, easier, until new platform gets developed
It is a fantastic EV however, the only thing that disappoints is the range at 230 miles. The range is just too short. If I do a road trip, I would spend so much time charging and waiting. Mercedes should have at least made the range a minimum of 300 miles which I find reasonable.
I'm sorry, if you can sit on the rear (3rd row) of a model Y, then you can call it "7 seat".. the "7 Seat of that car, i don't know I'd put a toddler on there. The EQB (while not cofortable for a long trip) I can fit at 6 feet height. DOn't call the Tesla model Y a "7-seater". I coudl stick two seats on the truck of a Mustang and call that a 6 seater if that is the case.
Why film with a phone? The clue is in the name, it's designed primarily to fit in your pocket and have conversations. For filming there is a device called a 'camera' which has vastly superior optics, microphone, zoom, depth of field, low light sensor, etc.
Mercedes has by far the worst premium surcharge for what you actually get of any of the German brands. Seriously considered GLB250 but it was ridiculously cheap inside for $15k more than my Countryman at the time. Glad they addressed some of the quality but in the mid-60s that most dealer lot cars will be specced to, just get an e-Tron (the big wagon, not the Q4).
I purchased a 300 back in early September when the car first became available in North America. 8 months in and I really love the car. I actually agree with everything Kyle laid out in the video though. We are a two car household and use this for driving around the city, or if we're going on a roadtrip that is less than 100 miles each way. I charge at home so the limited range is a non-issue for me. The concern over the charging speeds may be a bit overblown though. When I have charged at Electrify America I am consistently hovering in the 90kWh range which gets me from 20% to 80% in well under thirty minutes. Not great, but certainly not awful. I was lucky enough to purchase one at a time when I could still apply the $7500 tax credit so the deal made sense for me at the time.
Hey Chris! Just wondering, your short "100 miles each way trips", how reliable is it that you can make that without charging? Mine arrives in 1 month and Im just curious about the range "at its worse" level. Tks!
@@k1ngr231 The worst range that I have seen is 180 miles. This would be winter conditions and highway driving at 80 miles per hour. In good weather, highway driving at 80 miles per hour has consistently been about 200 miles. Drop the speed to 70 mph and you can get 210 to 215. During the summer, with normal driving around the city, I was consistently getting 235+ miles of range.
I was in the opposite boat that you were. I felt that the GLB drove decently, but looked dorky. It has too much Hyundai Venue going on, which for Mercedes isn't a good look.
I’ve never been sold on any of the entry level Mercedes. The faux-luxury interior is just a miniaturized version of the E Class or S Class, and the design doesn’t translate well on such a small car. It’s a constant taunt that you should have pulled better grades in college. Like the gas version, the exterior style is terrible. It’s an awkward shape that looks more suitable on the streets of Mumbai than Los Angeles or New York. Engineering aspects, like the ridiculous engine bay is inexcusable. For me, this would not be on the shopping list.
I almost looked at one, but I've got two words: manual seats. A $55k EV with manual seats, 100kW charging, and no standard driver assistance? Hard no from me, but I'm sure some will buy for the form factor, badge, and availability.
I think it's related to the chip shortage. Here in Europe you can order an EQB since beginning of 2022 but shortly after launch, electric seats were not an option anymore due to the chip situation. Same goes with blind spot detection. They are back on the feature list since a month or 2, but are still paid options (probably because they still can't afford getting it on all units).
Car is great, but there is a issue with connection on Electrify America charging station, Mercedess sells the car with 2 Year free charging but when you have issue so no reason to buy this car, this was the 2nd EV car i bought in 6 months, first one is EQS which I love it But Not EQB, which has been at the shop for 3 weeks, and today they admit their problem. @Mercedess was dishonest on this car.
@@rugger8136 yup bought it back in 2020 on 0 interest finance.. got a banger of a deal on it too.. now we have 77000 miles on it .. 5000$ spent on labor..engine cylinder 2 & 4 had misfire issue…cuz early model years were defective (mercedes covered the cost of the part)… other than that pretty satisfied
You'll get about 105kWh almost instantly from 5% until 65% and then it slowly drops until 75kWh when you reach 80% SoC. Average 90kWh is indeed a good estimate. That's the problem when comparing cars by specs, the EV's advertising much higher charging speeds almost never reach that speed. Max 100kWh is pretty poor compared to the competition but the flat charging curve helps a lot.
@@jonpetter8921 for the same $$, you can have a Model Y Dual Motor Performance with better build quality, larger battery and much quicker. Oh, and a nice big frunk. Oh, and 0-60 in 7 seconds is shit. The Y does it in 3.5.

Great review on an unknown entity. Kyle is my favorite EV reviewer, very comprehensive and a wealth of knowledge. I have a real problem with these full power launches in the city at traffic lights. It’s not safe. If some texting fool runs a red light, someone is getting hurt or killed. Even worse, if a pedestrian makes a wrong move, they’re likely to die from a speeding vehicle in the city. Please find a track or an empty country road to do acceleration tests. This has no place in a city going from traffic light to traffic light. Moreover, commenting on the competition like the 5 series in an impromptu street race is just irresponsible. Take it to the track and keep up all the other good work you do.
Why do all car reviewer's downplay the monstrous size of these giant car's by calling them small SUVs ? it's huge. The Qashqai is a small SUV , the puma a crossover, this is huge. In no way is it small. If you find a car that's not the hugest size ever, you can still call it a large SUV, lack of being a house on wheels doesn't mean it should be ascribed the descriptor small.
The people getting this EV are leasing, not buying. You get the $7,500 federal tax credit when you lease. Only purchases are ineligible - unless they meet the battery sourcing and domestic manufacturing requirements.
Uh, first of all why are you shouting? And second, charging infrastructure is way better in Europe than North America... I'm not even sure I understand your question...
An ugly legacy EV afterthought, with hideously low range, trying to profit from their legacy name and character. Good luck with that. Not a long term solution and no one should fall for the short term charade, either. I doubt they'll sell even 5000 of these in the US. Not with all the other amazing EV offerings out there from other car companies. Namely Genesis.
This is a poor excuse for a modern EV, IMO. Come on man, don't you feel insulted by the hubris of Mercedes by passing this off to the buying public. Long live the American Motors Pacer!
Finally figured out what Kyle really is he is a car placement analyst. Picks the perfect car for the people he knows lol.

Tesla's continuous development of the FSD is the main reason and feature we find will be a big help for us. With this said. What is/are your opinion/s? Thank you in advance!
How about comparing it to the voclo Xc40/c40 recharge?
Granted, but it's SOOOO much better than the stupid dangly rubber plugs that most cars have.
@@krugerdave Oh yeah, those are the worst.
I like the grill in the other one much better.
Can you turn creeping off like on a Tesla?
How does it compare to the EV6 in term of handling?
I don't know why other manufacturers aren't just retrofitting their gas cars into electric, seems more reasonable, easier, until new platform gets developed
Hey Kyle did the seats in this EQB get as warm as the M3/Y because they dont have perforated seats? I get really warm in my M3
We don’t hear the wind noise just so you don’t got back to your old phone for filming the sound quality with the new phone is better so far
Hey Denver 🎉
Does anyone know if the EQE has full one pedal driving?
Nice, but I prefer a sedan or convertible. Please review the EQE when it come out.
It is a fantastic EV however, the only thing that disappoints is the range at 230 miles. The range is just too short. If I do a road trip, I would spend so much time charging and waiting. Mercedes should have at least made the range a minimum of 300 miles which I find reasonable.
That'll be 230 miles in summer with mostly city traffic. In cold weather at motorway speeds you will barely reach 150 miles on a charge.
Am I mistaken in thinking this car is much bigger than the gv60, ev6, ionic 5, id4?
It's a lot bigger than an EV6, but the Ioniq 5 or ID.4 are only marginally smaller in terms of cabin and trunk space.
Why film with a phone? The clue is in the name, it's designed primarily to fit in your pocket and have conversations.
For filming there is a device called a 'camera' which has vastly superior optics, microphone, zoom, depth of field, low light sensor, etc.
Not worth the Money, just because of Fast Charging issue, FYI they are not releasing EQB 2023 till they fix their issue.
I just drove the EQB the other day for the first time. My impression wasn’t positive at all.
Interesting that you didn’t mention that it’s self driving, sort of.
Battery size/range would be the deal breaker for me, not the charging speed.
This car is a no-brainer in europe if you need a seven seater EV. No Y with 7 seats in uk yet and it looks more cramped too.
No HUD?
I wouldn’t consider it as I tend to do too many long trips 4-5 a year where I need the peppy charging speed.
I wonder why everyone is focusing on the peak charging and not the average 10-80% and how much you get out of it.
Keep the new phone and just use an attached external mic.
Okay... So what? Manual seats are quicker.
You can see the electronic seat controls on the door in both cars as he reviews them.
Put a VW in the grill, and you would have a Tiguan.
“Great ubering vehicle” Lolol what world do you live in??
People drive Mercedes Ubers, Uber Black.
@@MrTekniqs sure but I doubt the EQB’s size would cut it for Uber black, not to mention for a regular Uber driver the price tag might be a bit much.
my dad actually drives the regular glb for uber.. he was looking at this as a trade in.. but the range tho
@@azmainabrar697 I’m sure there are. Did your dad buy his current car new for Ubering?
@@rugger8136 yup bought it back in 2020 on 0 interest finance.. got a banger of a deal on it too.. now we have 77000 miles on it .. 5000$ spent on labor..engine cylinder 2 & 4 had misfire issue…cuz early model years were defective (mercedes covered the cost of the part)…
other than that pretty satisfied
It has the proportions of a Subaru Forester and looks like crap
Me gusta mercedes benz para xavier que en paz descanse
100kw 5-80% would make it very viable... doubtful.
It probably averages over 90kW in that range... The EQA is technically identical and has a very nice broad flat charging curve.
Remember, even if you don't care about fast charging, the next owner might. An EV with a mediocre charging experience will have lower residual value.
Mazda front, VW rear. That frunk mess is joke. The styling is truly meh……
I don t see the resemblance and only EV cultist cares about frunk lol
@@jonpetter8921 for the same $$, you can have a Model Y Dual Motor Performance with better build quality, larger battery and much quicker. Oh, and a nice big frunk. Oh, and 0-60 in 7 seconds is shit. The Y does it in 3.5.
@@alexnutcasio936 you do know that model y in the US costs over $10k more than the EQB right? And this thing still qualifies for tax rebate, so someone can get this for well below $50k. Plus Tesla do not have better build quality lol. I own a Model YP idk what ru talking about...
@@tonyzhang4924 made in Hungary, does not qualify for tax rebate………dummy.
@@alexnutcasio936 lol probably just looked that up, get your other facts straight too😂go get educated
good car but i prefer a model y
Imagine buying the model Y instead of this
Disappointing features and specs when compared to a Tesla Model Y for the same money.
This or an e tron. Yah this thing is no match
Short AF to seat 7
It can't tow.... no buy for me.
Oh and charging, not sure that was mentioned already ;)
yow that is ugly!
it really is.
So, slow for an EV, small battery, no driver assist and slow DC charging. One has to really want a Mercedes to get one.
Honestly the Genesis GV60 EV whups this EQB’s sorry @$$!
Still competing with Tesla trash in terms of mileage, price and ofcourse luxury.
The lack of space, range and now more expensive than Model Y means this is dead in the water… and no tax credits
The people getting this EV are leasing, not buying.
You get the $7,500 federal tax credit when you lease.
Only purchases are ineligible - unless they meet the battery sourcing and domestic manufacturing requirements.
No tow rating/hitch options is extremely disappointing
EVS ... NOW WHERE THE HELL IS EUROPE GONNA CHARGE EM?
Uh, first of all why are you shouting? And second, charging infrastructure is way better in Europe than North America... I'm not even sure I understand your question...
Better than any piece of shit gas car
😄
Blah looks
This thing is so ugly lol. I like the eqe sedan but it seems like it's never going to come out.
EV’s are generally so much faster than ICE vehicles, but this one isn’t. So I’m out.
On of the ugliest SUVs on the market...
Long live the American Motors Pacer!
this is undoubtedly the ugliest mercedes
It looks pretty ugly.
