What another great video you two! Just got back from a week in Cornwall and due to friends accompanying us we had to stay on (an albeit lovely!) campsite for the whole week - made us re-affirm that campsites are not for us. Not moving on each day made us feel a little claustrophobic and like we were missing out? So glad you've had a great time so far in Scotland AND that Frank is much better, bloody terrifying having poorly pets! Lovely shout out from Kez about those of us who have offered you a free stay - it's sincerely meant my lovely, any time at all! ;-)x
Thanks Andrea, hope you had an awesome time. It’s swings and roundabouts with campsites. Sometimes they are great and sometimes they can feel restrictive and you just want a wild camp. Franks on the mend, slowly but surely. It’s awful when they are not well. They can never tell you what’s wrong 🤣. You are welcome and thank you for the lovely offer 🤙
Love the balance between honesty and positivity on this channel. Most other van life channels are either all doom and gloom or all rose tinted glasses. Hope your pup feels better soon! I also hate when mine is ill, I imagine it’s what having a sick baby is like 😅 wish they could tell us what’s wrong!
Thank you so much for your kind and positive words. We hope to show a more real version of van life, make it useful with a little humour sprinkled in. The world can be filled with doom and gloom and we don’t want any of that on our channel 🤗. Thank you, frank is on the mend now. Was a bit crazy for a couple of days. He’s still getting back to his old self but definitely better. That’s the problem isn’t it. They can’t ever tell you how they feel or what’s wrong. Have an awesome Monday and week ahead 😎🤙
Small world 🤗. It was a real treat to cross the boarder and find this little gem of a spot. We’ve had so many great spots since we’ve been here and welcomed to stay overnight everywhere. You can’t beat it here 😎🤙
I'm just back from doing the west coast section of the NC500. Zero problems, lots of parking opportunities, friendly locals and great food. Too much click bait on social media in my view.
We did the NC500 a few years ago and met lots of lovely locals. The press and internet really doesn’t help the situation. We’re in Dumfries and Galloway and again we have been welcomed with open arms. Such a beautiful lovely place to travel to 🤗
If you believed facebook, you'd never go near the NC500 for fear of your life 🤣🤣. the reality is the locals are all lovely, Cornwall on the other hand.......
@@motorhomemavericks1 Every time I open Facebook that is the reality. Or my Google news feed, it seems like there's a new story every day of doom and gloom around vanlife etc. Everyone we have met in Scotland has been so nice. Can't comment on Cornwall, we've always had a great time. But have witnessed lots of park-ups closing and the roads are a nightmare a lot of the time. I hate a B road down that way 😂🤣
@motorhomemavericks1 oh I’ve heard some say they have not been greeted with such open arms in Cornwall. We’ve always loved it down there and met so many lovely people 🤗. Yes the single track roads with hedges higher than you van. Keep everything clenched 🤣😂. I curse Google Maps sometimes. Might try and use Waze to see if we can skip those roads sometimes 🤷. But sometimes there is no option 🙈🤣
Hi, another honest video thanks. I am coming round the other way, currently near Elgin. but will add this to my list on the way down. Stayed at a great Stopover called Glenbuchty, near Fraserburgh. was only a £5. really friendly owners, if your ever up that way. your right too.. the Scottish people have been so friendly all the way around. Loving vanlife Glad Franks on the mend..
Hey Trev, thanks for the kind words. We’ll have a look at the spots you recommended 🤗. Each place we have been we have met friendly locals and people. Vanlife in Scotland is just different. Welcoming and helpful. We saw a sign as we pulled into a village yesterday saying ‘It’s good to see you’. With directions to campervan and motorhome parking. What more can you ask for 😎🤙
Hi, we love the Scottish breakfast and the haggis Black pudding. Our go to goodies are Empire biscuits and they have a good - different range of cakes.
That’s exactly what we’ve seen Dave. We can’t believe how hospitable Scotland and local communities have been. The trips going great thanks. Can’t believe we’ve been here a week already. We have seen and done so much. Thank the lord we record a lot of it as I’ll never remember it all 🤣
@davidhall8745 where has the time gone. Seems like you guys were just starting the job 😳. Been watching a few TH-camrs over in Ireland and that is on our hit list. Just need to get over my fear of boats and ferry’s 🤣😂
I definitely think it’s the minority up here who don’t like van lifers! Unfortunately there are those who come up here and rinse the hospitality and ruin things for everyone and gets locals backs up. Iv seen some sights! But I think most people in the highlands have the view that as long as you are respectful of the land and locals then have no issues. Enjoyed your video, first one Iv watched of yours so far x
We agree. Also we’ve definitely seen a few things that make you go ‘that’s not helping the situation 🤦🥴.’ We’ve heard interesting stories from people who live on the NC500. But even then they still welcomed us to stay in local car parks, gave us helpful information etc. But we hope making our content we can spread more positive vibe, share some of our knowledge and have fun at the same time 🤗. It’s all about give and take and leaving no trace behind you. Thanks for the lovely comment and hope you like some of our other videos. More Scotland content coming this week. We love Scotland and the people. You all rock 😎🤙
I see Caerlaverock has not dried out LOL. Going by your mileage you could have been up North and home by now. BTW we don't hate van lifers. It is myth caused by incomers LOL. Money is not so important to most of us up here. Hope you include the Moray Coast in your travels and if you are stuck for somewhere to park up give us a shout.
It was a bit wet when we were there 😂. Yeah it takes a little longer in Gertie than our old T5. But it was better than last years drive. South of England to Preston 9.5 hours in traffic 🤣. We weren’t laughing at the time lol. Think Moray may be a bit far on this trip but we will let you know if we venture over. Have an awesome Monday and start to the week 🤙😎
I’ve just done the NC500 in the last few days and I’m still up in the Scottish Highlands now. I’m not sure what you must have been doing to annoy the Scots but your statement is absolutely incorrect.
That’s awesome. It’s a great app. Are you just seeing the one symbol on the app? Maybe try searching in a new area and see if that helps. Also you might need check the filters in the top right. It should have day and evening park ups along with campsites, waste disposal and more. Let me know how you get on and I’ll try and help a bit more 🤗
@@TristandKez I think I was thinking it was just random streets people have stayed at, guessing you couldn’t do that because the locals would kick off if they are campers staying all the time haha
@NorthernAnt It’s all user generated. But you have to sift through a fare few park ups sometimes as there’s a few ‘interesting’ spot posted up. But there are some great ones on there. Let me know how you get on with it
@NorthernAnt I’m sure you’ll find something. It can take a bit of hunting depending on what area you are looking at. Can’t remember if I mention Search for Sites website. That’s also good. Similar to park4night but sometimes has different park ups 🤙
dont get your scottish breakfast at a supermarket, Yuk , head over to a local butcher you will get a better Lorne (slice) sausage and black and white pudding and sausage and bacon and free range eggs. xx
I live in Ayrshire. We don’t hate campers and van lifers at all. It’s just the few that ruin it for everyone by leaving rubbish everywhere and going to the toilet wiping and leaving it everywhere, it’s not nice walking your dog and stepping in human excrement.
Too true, we’ve seen some unspeakable sights from both van and motorhomer people but also people in just cars. If we all took a little more care of our environments and surroundings we’d all be better off. We hope more people can read comments like this and take more care. Otherwise more places will get shut down as people become more unhappy with the situation. We love Scotland and the people here. The place is open for vanlife… what an awesome place. Thanks for taking the time to comment 🤙
