Finally a Macca's joke On the story: yes. SMT games are very much abstract and big picture, with the characters representing ideals more than being actual people, and it forces you to choose the kind of world you want to make after dealing with characters who would do well in that world.
The main composer's name is Ryota Kozuka. He made the Junes theme in Persona 4 and was the main composer for Shin Megami Tensei IV. You really should check out the whole SMT IV ost if you liked V's soundtrack.
My favourite thing about SMT V is that you can actually see demons aliments weakness and strengths, so you could actually rely on them instead of missing 9 out of 10 Marin Karin.
The soundtrack has some legit bangers that are in permanent rotation on my playlists. Battle - Beelzebub- and Battle - Primordial Goddess- are my two favorites. Honestly, all the battle themes are peak.
Modern SMT has such an amazing battle system, you can either demolish the enemy or get demolished in one turn if you're got out of position. There is not only the mainline smt, but also digital devil saga (an amazing duology), Devil survivor (another duology) and much more.
I got into SMT through IV on the 3DS. Instantly fell in love with the setting, gameplay, and vibes of the music! I highly recommend giving it a shot sometime, or wait for when they remake/remaster it and Apocalypse. Such a good OST!
SMTV Vengeance was my first mainline SMT game, was a bit skeptical going in since I’m usually more of a narrative-focused guy and I enjoy the social/daily life aspects of Persona more than the dungeon crawling. Lo and behold though, Vengeance won me over completely with its gameplay. The sheer amount of different tactics you can come up with (due to all the different omagatoki skills and unique abilities different demons bring to the table) means that the combat basically never gets stale, and recruiting new demons is fun and addicting in a very Pokémon-like way. Maybe the most fun I’ve ever had with a JRPG combat system ever. The story isn’t mind blowing but the overall tone/atmosphere is cool in a weird occult sorta way, feels very apocalyptic. Don’t sleep on this one, it’s fun as hell
If you want depressing lone wolf stories with next to no story and ass fucking difficulty, you play SMT. If you want great stories about the literal power of friendship and overcoming false idols with relative ease, you play Persona.
if you want a more story focused SMT game, you should check out the Devil Survivor games! they're some of the harder games in the series but genuinely 10/10 stories with amazing ost and characters
If you want more of the music, play SMTIV, it has a really great OST too. 3 does also, but IV and IVA have similar vibes to the songs. I was PISSED they added all the new content a week and a half after I beat SMTV V! But IV is also a real pain in the ass. But SMT3 has some of the most incredible vibes of any game, the writing in 3 is a bit varied but it's so unique. Also, I just wanted to say, I've been a big fan of your channel for a few years. Keep posting the content
Love the Vids. ❤You're the one who got me into Xenoblade THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I don't know if you take suggestions but I feel like you would absolutely adore the new Hoyo game ZZZ. It's nothing like HSR or GI. The vibe is a lot more funny with the fun characters being the main selling point. I think it's up your ally tbh.
SMTV5 is a lot like SMT3 in terms of its story, but this one is actually better than the old. Here, you can actually see the point of the various characters trying to get you to see their side of things (and thus alter the ending in their favor), and most are likeable, at least potentially. In SMT3, all the others were assholes that you will despise, except for the generic "good" choice that's actually hidden, missable, and so otherwise irrelevant to the plot that it makes the rest of them look well-pulled-off in comparison. And keep in mind, the other assholes make Wal-mart Ryuji look like Real Ryuji by comparison in terms of character depth and likeability.
"Story is lacking, but the gameplay is good" ~ Jason Graves (I fully agree, the game kind of sucks, I don't care about the characters, they do nothing, but I still cannot stop LOL)
I was extremely critical of the original, but they really did fix all my biggest complaints. For example, in the original, the game could only display five units at a time in battles, so it was always 4 on 4 at most. This time, I've fought groups of seven enemies at the same time. The whole thing where enemies at a distance moved weirdly at two games of animation is gone. The magatsuhi bridges are really good. The story is significantly better. Basically, it's been improved in every way. This is the game we should have gotten at launch. It's been on sale for the holidays, and I recommend getting it if the price is right. It also includes the original version of the game with all the improvements as well. Just choose not to take Yoko's hand and you get the original version. Give it another try!
@@100Servingsyeah, I think I’m gonna try out a different SMT game first and come back to SMT Vengeance later, since SMT V was my first SMT game (excluding Persona)
@@mweeee My favorite is Digital Devil Saga, but it has no demon recruiting or fusion. That's probably why I like it so much. It's also Shoji Meguro's favorite OST he composed, and it absolutely shreds. SMT 3 is widely available and outstanding. There's tons of strategy guides from 20 years ago that still work. However, it's a lonely place, and you spend the majority of the game exploring a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Devil Summoner: Raidou 1 + 2 have been announced for a remake. I have the PS2 versions of both, but they're more action than than traditional turn-based combat. Great stories though. Soul Hackers 2 is widely available, but it's low budget and it shows. It was announced and released six months later, on time, in Japan and the US simultaneously. It will probably get a massive discount during the Christmas sale on Steam.
@@cherubin7th People said the same thing about the God Eater games, so they didn't buy the third one, and now the franchise might never get another game.
I just couldnt get into this one -- too much boring grinding, and the intro chapter is waaaaay too long without any story, just wandering around a desert So instead, ill just watch this

Not to mention the equally long tradition of the devil being quite chill for well... the devil

Oh wow, I never knew he did the Junes theme. He seems very talented

Another big TH-camr has exposed to peak. Hope you enjoy
The OST is breakcore, electronic and EMD. It's kind of it's own beast, hard to place
You can go into Shin Megami Tensei IV and IV Apocalypse for a similar vibe in music.

Glad you checked out Vengeance.
Yeah, that's the thing about the music in this game... I don't think there is much that resembles any of it.
all the smt soundtracks slap, peak get work done/backroads blasting music too
