When watching your videos I feel as if I'm hanging out with an old friend that just so happened to bring a prize possession to show me. When you promote something you love over something just to make a buck it will always come across as a labor of love. Not just a love for that item, but respect and love for viewers and subscribers. I have been a Magic Square fan for a while and enjoy your takes and opinions on said subject and items alike.
I think that's cause my writing style is just how I've always talked. Internally I've always been a Reviewer, so even before I did this, it colored how I thought and acted, and wormed it's way into how I express my self.
I write these to say the stuff I needed to say to get them off my mind.
I suppose all that is just the long way of getting around to saying that I seem so genuine in these videos, because I'm just Genuinely being my self.
This looks pretty good. I love when fauxforming is done to achieve mass shifting. It's just such a cleaver idea

I gotta say a few things for you dude.
First off, your respect for your subscribers and viewers is the best I've ever seen on this site in the 12-13 years I've been here. It's not some fake/over-hyped respect that focuses on the majority of viewers which causes them to ignore or even forget that their viewers are individual people and not just some number increasing over time. I wish the best for Caelan and for you to never lose your ability to respect every single one of your viewers no matter how much your channel grows.
Secondly, you definitely convinced me to put this figure on my 3rd party wish list. It's a damn shame I can't afford any of them rn but as soon as I have enough money I am 100% picking this one up first.
That's what I fear man. One day there will be too many of you to keep track of and I don't want that to happen, but if I keep growing it's kind of an inevitability that I just won't be able to keep up for ever. Glad to have this ability for as long as I can.
I hope this figure lives up to the expectation I've set for it. If I put my stamp of approval on something, I really want it to mean something.

Well this wasn't designed to be an Optimus Magnus, this was designed as a Regular Optimus Prime, and then just recolored as an Optimus Magnus.

The magic Square light of freedom has a lot color variants if anybody wants it be it optimus magnus ,nemesis prime, shattered glass optimus and optimus being dead not joking it's ms-01s gray
Yeah they also do a Crystal Version, so if you want Ghost prime you can do that too.
Not going to lie the Crystal Version tempts me, because for some reason I'm a Sucker for that BS.

Nice! I hope you love that even if it's not the same as this. I do know that the altmode is a bit less cohesive than this, as it doesn't have doors, and there are a few extra Gaps, plus no articulated hands.

It’s such a pleasure to finally own this figure. Me and my father figure went to a classic toy show and there was a guy that was selling one of these for 100 bucks. From his collection. wasn’t the Optimus Magnus version. It was the original paint scheme. And i like making it flip off.
Yeah, its so tempting to make figures with articulated fingers shoot the others the bird.

The only other time I’ve seen Optimus with an axe is in Netflix siege, prime wars, and cyberverse and that’s recent shows. It’s been he has a sword like the starsaber, swords that come out his hands, or he uses blasters. Heck even Megatron flail doesn’t see much show action
Animated one had an axe. Actually makes sense for him because war is over and it's more of a tool
Yeah Axes are kind of his defining Melee weapon, but I'm more talking about the Pure Enegery one that comes out of his hand. Don't get me wrong I don't hate it, but it's becoming like the Matrix where every new version has one, and it's getting tiresome.
Great review. One thing though, the MP scaled Light of Freedom figure came out before the Legends scaled one. The original release was not the best because Magic Square used little to no paint on it, making it look kind of faded and lackluster. They ended up doing a metallic version instead and all the other subsequent releases thereafter (including the Legends version). They downscaled the MP version that's why the Legends figure was so good.
I ended up using the Magic Square as my Magnus and TE as my Optimus.
Interesting. I wonder what motivated a Legends Company to Make a MP Scaled figure before they made something more in their wheel house... Either way, I guess they really recognized what they had in their hands with that mold.
And I kind of ended up doing the same thing, even though I am Eyeing that Metalic Version... Also the crystal version because I'm stupid, and crap like that appeals to me.
@@PerspectiveEnd I actually missed out on the initial metallic release. I was tempted to buy it from Ebay for $350, but luckily they announced they're doing a reissue.

I see why you love this figure so much. Actually in my opinion, i prefer TE-01 Back proportion more than this one, it's cleaner and more accurate in movie.
The back of TE's truck is cleaner and flatter too.
But, in term of accesories, articulations, and transformation, MS is a clean winner.
TE transformation is not G1-ish enough for me, and it use fake grill.
Btw i think you forget about the matrix.
I totally did forget about the Matrix because it was in him and I didn't have to pull it out of a Drawer. Damn.
I'm with Jobby on the TE being a little too flat, and the transformation on the TE is not only not G1 it's just not fun in general.
I don’t mind a optimus prime with a fake grill but this figure amazes me with how great the engineering is. Honestly feel they made this figure with the same engineering and articulation as this figure but it looked like Transform element OP leader I would be sold

The axe for me is a very important accessory in the MP OP, most likely because as a child I had only seen the three first episodes of G1 (I don't really know, at least I remember the one going to the Earth from Cybertron, the one of the petrol station and the one of the jam), and that is my nostalgia pic on Transformers
I mean sure some people really care about it, but does it really need to come with EVERY version of optimus ever.
@@PerspectiveEnd, I mean, with G1 style masterpieces I think is ok to come with, because a masterpiece had to have some accessories to justify the price (I'm not syaing that it had to have the trailer and all that stuff to have like $400+ price, but at least some weaponry and alternative faces and stuff like that to justify the $100 or $200 price of the figure), also it's allways good to have some melee weapons to your figures, and the axe is the iconic melee weapon to any Optimus encarnation

@@PerspectiveEnd It's the gesture you performed in the time stamp. It was a popular trend a few years ago, and it basically was done in comedic effect after someone has said something stupid, often accompanied by a vulgar lecture.
Or used as a term of exclamation.
Their legends 2.0 has been shown off. I love both MS-01 and MP-44, so I just adore 2.0.

They're making a second edition of the Legends version of this figure. I'd not heard that. I'll have to look into it.

Glad you liked it, I may or may not continue it. It really adds to the length of the video, and I know a lot of people really don't care about articulation.

I'd assume it's because I'm a very harsh critic who doesn't just hand off his stamp of approval to like 90% of stuff so me gushing about this is a bit different than reviewer 94132 who gushes about every figure.

I really like how you love the design because you think it looks good, and not because it’s G1. Just cause it’s G1 doesn’t mean it’s automatically good. A figure should be judged based on its aesthetic and overall design. All that aside, this figure looks gorgeous. I’d buy it if I could. I can always rob a bank for the money I suppose

Maybe you could go for the Legends version. It's definitely not as good, but how much worse could it be. It should only be about 40 bucks.

If I’m not mistaken, I think MP-10 has the real grill for his truck, shame his proportions are just a bit wonky. I have this guy ordered, hopefully I won’t be disappointed. Love the white color on this version
The mp 10 does not have the reel grill for his Abbs.
The real grill ends up inside of his chest just underneath his head, the ones that becomes his Abbs is stored on the underside of the truck in altmode.

Legends version has a “B” in its product code i.e. MS-B18W. The MP scale is MS-01W.
Nice! Good way to be sure. That does bring up the question though that maybe the actually made this first, and that might have been a down scale instead? Weird that a legends company would go for an MP first.

@@PerspectiveEnd Magic square’s first figure is MP scale prime, then after the obligatory nemesis prime/SG/Magnus recolors they downscaled this into a legends figure and has been making legends ever since.
They are reissuing MP prime soon and I hope they get back into making more MP after this.

Yeah but that's a cybervers figure, and therefor looks NOTHING like anything else in my collection, and would stick out like a Sore Thumb.
Nowhere near the topic of the vid but man the figure that got me into collecting (aka started to make my wallet cry) was Netflix soundwave and I love it!!!!
This is slightly late but i think having both the light of peace and this in different decos like optimus prime and nemesis prime could be quite good for display just to have the slight differences in proportions and having them in battle poses against each other

Funnily enough, Optimus Prime actually was white in one of the episodes of the G1 Cartoon. In 'The Return of Optimus Prime Part 2' ; he sprayed himself in a white chemical to immunise himself from the Hate Plague.
Man yall need to tell me when you do that. There are people I thought stopped commenting, but just changed everything about their account from their name to their Icon with nothing even remotely similar between the two.
I will have to take you word on that. I have never managed to Sit through all of season 3.
Even as a fan of Jobby, I find it weird when he complains about masterpiece accessories that reference single episodes, while loving the axe hand for OP and Mace for megatron. Like I enjoy all that kinda stuff as options (as long as it's not used to justify a huge price), for example a welding torch for ratchet so he can repair a damaged autobot or an energon cube for Soundwave all add display options. Plus when it's masterpiece you can expect the adult collectors to be a bit more careful with their spare parts.
I'll tell you the Accessories I want to complain about, it's all the crap that keeps coming with EVERY VERSION of a character.
Like does every Megatron on Earth need the Key to Vector Sigma. I have almost as many of those as I do Matrixes.

ButI've noticed you've not been happy with the number of Matrixes you've been getting.
The funny part about that was Masterpiece was doing okay letting their figures share, like hotrod taking in MP-10s matrix rather than make two. Then there were like 5 MP's that came with a megatron in gun mode.

And before you tell me no such people exist the nemesis has become iconic with Gwoners despite appearing less, skywarps teleportation hardly appeared more yet is his most iconic trade. And do I have to mention the final battle accessories included every single release ever, the amount of people caring about star screams coronation gear?

The Nemesis Appeared in a Lot of episodes. It was only shown flying twice in G1, once in Episode 1 once in beast wars, but it's still the base for the deception's for the first two seasons. It's just barely less prominent than the ark.
I don't want Starscreams Coronation gear more than once either.

Feels weird seeing a prime head with the face being a different color to the mouthplate (well until earthrise but we don’t talk about that thing). It looks really cool, but also strange.
I'm plenty used to this because I was exposed to White Optimus Through Wikipedia probably when I was like 16.
There is a somewhat easy way to make the transformation just like the show for the chest at least. U can use springs to have the grill be pushed forward when push and click in the parts on the side if the grill

Imagine if they made a figure of Optimus with his mouth plate missing drawing error in the season 2 episode "Search for Alpha Trion."

That would be a hilarious Accessory.
No matter what traditionally animated show you watch, the most accurate looks for the characters and what should be most referenced are the animation models, and so, I end up rolling my eyes whenever someone says that G1 accuracy is tricky or a lost cause because of how inconsistent and messy the characters look in the animation. That said, the animation models for Optimus Prime, Sideswipe, Jazz, Trailbreaker, Megatron, Soundwave, and the 84 Seekers are foreshortened, so referencing them is trickier.
This is true, but I also say that there are characters who were routinely off model enough that they're off model appearance was the main one.

Rewatching some older vids of yours and I agree on the point about an Optimus that transforms as we saw. Something that's been a curse since Classics Prime is the legs being backwards and having to swivel it around. Siege Prime kinda solved it but the legs still do this on the knee joint. Oddly enough the first Ultra Cyberverse Prime kinda transforms perfectly, only difference is the legs fold in on themselves for the back of the truck like FOC Optimus. Speaking of cybertronian figures, I got Origins Bee today. Megatron and Shockwave were my favorite Siege figures, now they've been dethroned. Yes I count him as a very delayed Siege figure and whenever the inevitable selects Cybertron Wheeljack happens I'll count him as one too.

@@PerspectiveEnd Mhm! I was worried I missed out on him too like I did with the micromasters and battlemasters. Doesn't help I've started watching the Unicron Trilogy and they give me Mini-Con vibes. I dunno if I'll like the rest of the trilogy but just hearing Gary Chalk and David Kaye again is a treat itself so I'm giving it a shot.
Man, that figure is really good. Especially the normal Prime version, but this version just looks really clean with it's color scheme.
What actually made me buy this in the first place was that color scheme, I had no idea what it would be like outside of that, I just thought it was pretty.
I think we should look at Devastation for G1 Optimus’ design. They made a model for it so that there wouldn’t have any changes due to bad animation.

I like to think that white Optimus is an autobot who is a fanboy of Optimus(like me) so he copied his look and constantly tries to get Optimus’s attention and approval

I have something I want to say and that is something to do with the feet every Transformer figure I am happy they're getting rid of the ankle swivel now I understand why people like it but compared to a human being which it's why most of the joints exist is very unrealistic it is also saying for the swivel in the knee joint area but I consider that one decent at most problem with the ankle swivel is because I don't see people being able to swim around her ankle unless you know it's dislocated

I mean humans do have a decent amount of swivel below the knee. I can rotate my foot about 90 Degrees left to right without bringing in my knee at all.
And the problem is that these figures can't adjusting their balance on their own. They will not try to remain standing on their own. We the owners have to keep them upright.
And that's made easier by allowing the foot to rotate into places that might be impossible for a human, but lets them distribute their weight more easily.

I'm here. No injuries. That aside, Planet x Magnus rocks. Just saying. A white optimus with armor. Not the most accurate to what it's trying to be, but more accurate than anything by Hasbro or anyone else. Not an optimus is magnus colors, but an actual white optimus in magnus armor. Parts forming? Yes, but the right parts forming in the right places so....if you haven't had the chance to check out planet x's offering, your missing out.
In my opinion, it's the best magnus for the magnus it's trying to be.
I'm actually hopefully wanting a white striker manus form Maketoys.
Don't think they'll put one out but.... Fingers crossed.
