If history is prologue then Toyota should put the OBDII plug right the dash next to the radio because you are going to need it. Toyota hid and ignored an expensive fuel pump issue for 10 years now with over 3.2 million recalls that do not cover all vehicles.
3 years later and we're headed down a dark automotive future. With automakers making it more difficult to do your own maintenance, wanting to push ads and subscriptions, getting less intrusive vehicles is becoming impossible. I'm less put off by this truck now, but currently I'm still hesitant and concerned about vehicles manufactured during and after the pandemic.

Question how often do you a used Tundra on the market? And if you find one it costs almost as a new one! Let’s face it when how many truckers list mileage at the top of their list? None! Old tech? So what? If it works, don’t change it. Don’t get caught up in shining sparkling gizmos and the latest technology, we’re buying a truck for f#@k sake!!! I have a 2011 Tundra that has 210.000 ml. @@everymandriver YesSiree, my F-150 Platinum is as comfy as a sedan, but in no way does it easily manage a slalom course.
Quite a difference from my GPaw's '64 Chevy 292CID w/a "granny" gear floor shift.
I’m here looking because my new Ford is rusting under like crazy and I was told it’s by design and as intended.
Still sells with its age.
How can one praise reliability and ask for throwing away the bulletproof A760? 3UR-FE and A760 combo is what makes the Tundra reliable. In fact, A760 is even more reliable than the already very reliable engine.
It's the AB60F tranny not the A760.. do your research, I do believe the A760 is a 5 speed from the first gen
Can you lay down in the back seat like space enough for 5'11 tall?
Less MPG but no trips to the dealer for repairs with the stupid cylinder deactivation & annoying stop/start.
Does the tailgate lock with the key fob?
No
@@nonooohlii thanks
Must be a fast tow truck for them to have a big lead.
Tech isn't everything and I think we have too high expectations of tech in vehicles these days. More tech adds more cost and potential problems down the road. Fuel economy isn't great but I'd pay that price for Toyota reliability. They are going to release the next gen of Tundra next year I think or soon after. So maybe some upgrades like fuel economy and transmission will show up then.
If you want to keep your truck for a lifetime, buy Toyota v8.
And if you want to enjoy the experience buy a Ford.
@@kensporalsky3784 the coyote is a nice motor. 2015-2017 with the 6 speed was the best one
@@kensporalsky3784 Ford, ya maybe if you enjoy the experience of transmission problems… 2020 F-150 10 speed transmission owner. Been in the shop 7 times in 20k miles. Had the transmission replaced and it has transmission problems again 3k miles later and no towing. Strong engine but doesn’t mean anything if the transmission is junk. Looking for a Tundra now…
@@big10hunter42 must have gotten a bad one. 6000 miles towing 9500 lbs on my 2020 , 40,000 total miles and no issues. Best truck I’ve ever owned except maybe my 2000 7.3 F250
I’m keeping my 19’ Tundra 1794 till the wheels fall off!
Had a 2016 TRD Pro crew. The good: great ride because of the Pro suspension, and very comfortable seats. The bad: Cam tower leaks at 8,000 mi. No interior storage, either under, or behind rear seat. Low tech everything, sound systems junk. Terrible gas mileage. Only 1130 payload. Very loud clutch fan (engine). Fail small offset crash test with IIHS. Sold it with 10K miles. It’s going to take more than a V6 TT to catch the big three, and if Mike Sweers has anything to do with it, forget it.
The other manufacturers may have a big lead on technology, but with that technology comes reliability issues. I'll go with reliability every time.
They have a big led time in the shop, Tundra is 3 times the truck that doesn't break
I test drove a 2021 TRD Pro today and I really wanted to love it but I couldn't. I couldn't believe that I wasn't driving a 12 year old truck. It was so boring. The exhaust sounded good, but it didn't go anywhere when I hit the gas. I know it's more reliable and that's why I want to love it but I just don't think I can buy it. It's even at a great price. 1st world problems, I guess.

I have had 1 Tacoma ,2 tundras ,been very happy ,fuel mileage blows , I just drove my Buddies new 2021 f150 platinum ,oh my ! If this new Tundra doesn’t live up to the hype ! The fit finish ,tech ,ride power ... is unbelievable! I will be a Ford Boy!
Ford may have more options, but won't have half the reliability of a Tundra long term. Tundras can last a lifetime, domestics start going to hell as soon as the warranty is up! Lol
49K for the TRD Pro?
Amazing resale values! WHat you loose in gas expenditure you more than make up in resale value versus the other brands. NOt to mention repairs.
Toyota all day everyday for RELIABILITY.
There is no regular cab (hasn't been for a number of years now).
Everyman driver reviews are based on other youtubers.
@FMF5517 No, 2017 was the last year for the regular cab.
It is a truck. Not a video game console. If you need a camera to hook up a trailer, you should not be pulling one.
My dad wants to get a truck with a lot of space, what would you recommend
@floyd watt thanks, he definitely doesn’t want a Ford and he might want a Chevy and Honda is like way out of the question. He was looking at a tundra so I was excited to see this video.
@floyd watt lol
Check out the Nissan Titan Warrior. It's a pretty awesome truck.
Lesser gadgets is best, more = more from your wallet in long run.
For reliability it’s hard to beat the Tundra from 07-21.
I own a 2008 Toyota Tundra 5.7 with 109k in dashboard looking to trade it for a newer model
What color is your truck?
Concrete
@@dylanhenderson9444 You mean Cement?
If Ford and chevy could sue toyota for making reliable trucks...
Yup, they may have the lead on cosmetics & tech but reliability, quality control & resale value is where they fall far behind!
nissan???
I’ve 4 Nissan Titan, just bought 2021 tundra, tundra can’t compare to a Titan, power is weak, storage is not available in the tundra, for a working truck, I should of kept the Titan
they only lead in recalls and bein on a tow hook
Leave everything the same and maybe a 3/4 diesel version
Toyota reliability.
Yes
Question how often do you a used Tundra on the market? And if you find one it costs almost as a new one! Let’s face it when how many truckers list mileage at the top of their list? None! Old tech? So what? If it works, don’t change it. Don’t get caught up in shining sparkling gizmos and the latest technology, we’re buying a truck for f#@k sake!!! I have a 2011 Tundra that has 210.000 ml. It hasn’t cost me a dime other than routine maintenance like oil, tires ,wiper blades. I had one brake job, my choice and that’s it! If I ever sell I’ll get my money back.
That model is basically a 2007 tundra
Nissan has a big lead on the Tundra? Don’t think so
The new one will be a better truck
This truck would be absolutely perfect with a V6 hybrid engine and an 8 speed transmission.
V6 hybrid?! Hahahahhaa
It is coming out in 2022-2023. It has over 500hp with a 25 mpg rating.
@@seinundzeiten supposedly but none of this is certain yet.
Ram, Nissan and Chevy have a big lead in unreliability compared to Tundra. Newer is not always better.
I bought the 2020 pro a year ago. If I were a billionaire, I'd still drive this truck...
Note: Dodge is okay however, Ford is horrible.
I thought this was a crack about how you sold it because of the fuel economy, but I re-read it and now understand lol
The interior speaks Ford to me. Maybe I should buy a Ford instead. Or maybe I should buy a much older Toyota since I'll still get a lot of miles with little issues with regular maintenance. If I want more modern features I can buy those features online from a third party.
I PREFER LEST GAZ ECONOMI BUT RILIABLE TRUCK. gmc 8 TRANS ALL BREAK, rAM OH BOY BAD TRUCK

How do ram ford and chevy have a big lead? Because of their tech? Did you see hie many recalls those vehicles have when new? Imagine what they are going to 50k-150k mikes from now. Toyota will keep running forever will just enough of the tech that you need. If you want good gas mileage buy a car
6 speed equals more reliability. 10 speed.......lol
Toyota is a Toyota is a Toyota. If you are buying it for another reason, buy another brand.
Reliable ? not to my experience.
Hemi has more power
Yep. And more issues as well. There's a recall already for the master cylinder. 🤣🤣
Get a tacoma 6pd manual transmission and call er a day
.... unless you need your truck to tow something larger than a small camper.
@@IndianaGeologist I don't tow...people don't buy Tacomas to tow heavy..if I'm gonna tow heavy, it won't even be a Toyota product. Tacoma are good for daily/offroad/mallcrawin/easierparking/they are simple and look good
You can barely tow a small 18ft camper. Hell, half the overland rigs I see with steel bumpers, skid plates, racks, a tent, coolers, and two adults are at or over their payloads.
@@IndianaGeologist vh tunes, and regears. Also the Magnusson super charger. But yes, I agree with you.
I love my 6 speed manual taco - 155000 miles and never spent a dime except for tires, oil changes and new brakes at 150000..only problem is it won’t tow my my roomy travel trailer, so it is getting traded off for a v8 tundra.
To be honest the interior very boring & too many cheap plastics(( does not compare with the Ram 1500 interior & exterior sorry fans of Toyota but it’s true))
I have to agree with you. The RAM does look better. I still prefer the Tundra for some reason, though. I suppose it’s because I’ve never been much of a Dodge guy.
