My FOREVER Truck?! 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro

  • Could this be my "FOREVER TRUCK"? lol... Kind of crazy to say that out loud... Very unlikely for me to keep ahold of a truck "forever" BUT if any truck stands a chance, it's this 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro in Lunar Rock. I absolutely LOVE this 5.7L V8 Tundra TRD Pro. To me (in my very biased opinion), there is no better truck. This truck feels like a real truck... Something about this Tundra just offers a Rugged, Loud, Powerful, Raw, Visceral feeling... There's nothing quite like it. Having owned the new 2022+ Tundra before, I can honestly say that this V8 "old" version just feels better. Feels more reliable and far less synthetic. The hybrid iForce Max offers phenomenal performance figures, it just lacks something. Would you choose this 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro over a brand new 2024 Tundra TRD Pro or Trailhunter? If so, why? If not, why?
I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to watch this normal introduction of my "new to me" 2021 Tundra TRD Pro. Please consider Liking and Subscribing if you found any value in my content, I greatly appreciate your support. Thank you!
    -Stay Untamed...

I have the same truck, I test drove a 24’ pro, it was a nice truck too but it didn’t offer enough of an improvement in any area for we to buy it. In fact, after driving both back to back, I can honestly say I enjoy the 21 more. Much better turn radius, real engine and exhaust sound, and has plenty enough power to do everything I want and some. I haven’t had a single issue with mine in 3 years of ownership. For me it’s very likely this will be my forever truck.

My 2021 just hit 71,000 miles. Just bought my second set of Nitto Ridge Grappler's 285/70/18. Amazing tires on an amazing truck. My TRD Pro is a double cab because I need a full functioning bed. I have added RCI rocksliders, a lightbar in the hood, Leer tonneau cover, blacked out on the chrome in the cab, Stillen cold air intake, added a transmission cooler since I do a decent amount of towing between 5K-7K, and wash and wax her every month.

    • @GoodSamLegend
      @GoodSamLegend 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Well, we really do not know what the idiots at TFL did to that little Tacoma. So, I do not even blame the truck or Toyota for that. Yes, it is a brand new whatever gen, but I do not even know if it has a completely new transfer case compared to the previous one (it might), and it broke because is a new tech (blah-blah-blah: it is still a part-time 4x4 like the previous one). Yes, the Limited version gets a bit different transfer case, but the Off-Road version, come on.
My other point is, If you follow the books how to brake in a new truck/car, TFL did absolutely the opposite what it should be done. They do not care, a year later or sooner, they will sell the truck and it will become someone else's problem. TFL in my opinion are bunch of idiots. Enthusiasts my a**.

TFL has certain brands that they go to great lengths to trash and try and make them look bad. They especially like to try and make Toyota look bad. There are so many times you can tell that they are intentionally making the vehicles get stuck on easy terrain that a skilled driver might be able to drive through in 2WD. TFL is pure garbage!

I do not know if you overpaid for the truck or not, but I completely understand why you have circled back and bought the 2nd gen Tundra again (in your case the TRD Pro). I have a 21 Tundra Limited CrewMax TRD-Off Road, and I absolutely love the truck, and I cannot think for any truck right now that is on sale that I would prefer it over the 2nd gen Tundra.
Yes, the 1/2 ton trucks from Big 3 have tons of features and the ride comfort and fuel economy is amazing, but the reliability is like a hitting the lottery - you are either lucky or not lucky. I want a reliable, simple and honest truck that does not cost an arm and a leg.
The 3rd gen Tundra has a peppier engine and it is still a very solid truck, but I hate the exterior look. I could not get used to it even after 3 years; I simply hate it. The only time I like one is if it is in white color, Platinum or 1794, but those trucks cost a lot. I rather have a Ford F150 Raptor than the 3rd gen Tundra if the money was not the issue.

Glad you came to your senses. Toyota needs to do the same .
What are they thinking they have their whole reputation on the line and don’t get me started on the prices ???????????
Whoever thought of this desk jockey idea needs to come out in the real world and make much more educated decisions .
Venting sorry just maxed out with stupidity .

original owner put like 10k+ into it with all the upgrades. I think you actually got a deal given all that. Also, It’s not like you can easily go out and find a Lunar rock Pro with 3k miles either. lol

How does this guy get these in like new condition? They’re already 3 years old, I got the same truck last year with only 13k miles and the seats were already shiny worn not matte like he always has, same with my steering wheel. I don’t get it

No replacement for displacement. A V8 belongs in a truck that will work & tow. No cylinder deactivation, no awful annoyance stop/start. No 8 9 or 10 spd trans. I can’t see the new twin turbo V6 going 2-300k miles without problems.

I just drove this same truck yesterday but in white. I really wanted to love it. Especially since it was at a great price with a rack, decked box, awning, bike rack, etc. But I just couldn't love it. It was so boring for me. I know it's the most reliable truck out there, but it felt like I was driving a 13 year old truck. It sounded great, but compared to other newer V8 trucks I've owned recently, it was pretty slow. And the white is just so plain like a work truck. I love the look in Lunar. I'm still trying to process it and wondering if I can force myself to buy it even though I know I won't love it.

So driving down to DFW area tomorrow (from Tulsa) to check out the identical ‘21 Lunar TRD Pro. The one in Nevada sold, as did the one in Ct., surprisingly quickly. This one has more mileage than I’d like, 53,600, and of course this dealership is asking $54,995, but it appears to be in great shape, 2 owner and Toyota certified. Thinking of starting at $48, which may be a pipe dream😂. What do you think is a fair deal?

These trucks willl hold their value for a long time. 5.7 is a great V8. The second best engine toyota made only to the 4.7. Toyota is going to struggle selling the new generation at 60-75k and still only getting 17-20mpg.

HERE IS YOUR TOYOTA RELIABILITY AND REPUTATION LOL
More than 600,000 Toyota pickup trucks and SUVs in the United States were voluntarily recalled over the past week because of different issues that could increase the risk of crashes, the vehicle manufacturer said.
The first announcement, on Feb. 21, stated that about 280,000 vehicles, including Toyota Tundra, Tundra Hybrid and Lexus LX600 vehicles from the model years 2022-2024 and Sequoia Hybrid vehicles issued from 2023-2024, were recalled because “certain parts of the transmission may not immediately disengage when the vehicle is shifted to the neutral position,” Toyota said in a statement.
