I 100% respected the use and restraint in the use of violence in the show. It made every kill (and especially the ones in the finale) that much more impactful and memorable. He only kills 3 people in that ambush scene, but every beat is memorable (especially the last one).
I thought it wasn't enough. Not that it needed much more, but most of it is clustered in episode 5 and 9. Just 1 or 2 more personal kills sprinkled where necessary would have a big impact.
@@Alpha1918maybe that’s fair, would’ve liked to see Ellie do a little more damage on the cannibal commune but I thought it was a good enough adaptation to not illicit any serious complaints.
Imagine if the show depicted as much violence as the game, Joel would have a killcount in the hundreds, there would be literal hours of unfiltered violence
@@cringeychris8928 It wasn't great at all, the show felt really cheap in some circumstances because of this, everything happened too smoothly and the hospital shootout was tensionless. The bad thing is, instead of using that time to showcase Joel and Ellie's bond, they gave us entire episodes of flashbacks and the chemistry between the 2 protagonists never really evolved. The beginning was fantastic and the art direction was superb from start to finish but it was slightly disappointing frankly
@@quentinhirschfeld9382 You do make a good point about Ellie and Joel's chemistry kind of being rushed. I'm grateful for the flashback episodes, I thought they were exceptionally well done and brought a lot of depth to the world, but the show did need more time of just Ellie and Joel, little moments that the game was plentiful of. I wouldn't say it felt cheap though, just maybe a tad undeserved
@@Ethan-ft3eh I know right? Those Hunters were unnecessarily violent thugs which is why I unapologetically enjoy blowing their bodies apart with my can bombs and shotgun. The infected weren't as bad. Destroying the Hunter Humvee was lit!
If my count is correct he killed 29 non-infected humans? Very impressive for a 56 year old man who is deaf in one ear who was fighting against people at least half his age..
In the game in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania that Hunter said those tourists (Joel and Ellie) killed at least 70 men. So canon wise Joel (I'm sure with Ellie's kill count subtracted) killed more people in Pittsburgh alone in the game than in the 1 season of the series which represents the entire campaign of the game. Honestly the series doesn't look too good 1 reason being they changed A LOT like in the game the Hunter vehicle is a humvee but in the tv series it's a cargo truck? Like wtf? I'll try to check it out but honestly it seems like the franchise should stick to the games as the ultimate medium for it.
The fact that it cut down the amount of violence makes it much more impactful when it does happen, which I respect. If you compare it constantly to the games, you'll find things that are different, but its best to look at it as a standalone thing, and it stands well on its two feet.

the show disrespected joel. To those who have not seen or played the game, Joel is a badass, one in league with the punisher and john wick. For the showrunners to show restraint in displaying violence for a FUCKING violent story speaks volumes on their ignorance. Joel's victims are in the hundreds, many of whom are more than likely to have never seen his face. He's the tourist (not outsider) who becomes this cross-country ghoul reaping souls because they're just in his way. But in the show they nerf the character to the point where he's just a hiking guide escorting a girl and happened to kill three people on the way.
Its 20 years into the apocalypse. Its quite a fair assumption to view or suspect most people if not all as killers. So how does Joel Miller stand out in an ocean of killers within the apocalypse???? He simply does it better. So those two dozen scenes would make two things clear. One, he isn't average. Two, he has skill and experience. @@cringeychris8928
@@cringeychris8928 its not just about violence its about lack of action in the show. They cropped a lot of action scenes from the game and make the show nearly all about drama. Dont care if its realistic or not but game joel can kill 2 bloaters plus some clickers and runners at the same time but in the show he barely deals with 2 clickers.

FEDRA were trying to end Fireflies so many years and it took only one man missing his adaptive daughter
Good Kill Count, I was surprised to see you make anything from The Last Of Us
Game Joel went through a tougher journey to get to Pittsburg than Tv show Joel did getting to Salt Lake City 😂
Bruh Pittsburgh was hell. After all of that BS it would have equated to half of the season with all the stuff players went through in the game.

Eh Game Joel killed like 500 people or more
I was looking forward to this show as a fan of the games, glad I was not disappointed, I will be making a Carnage Count of the entire season
I was so thankful that it's really damn good. Looking forward to your video
game joel was a terminator but in the show he really is an old man with high survival skills
It’s Good Have You Back 🥹😭🥹😭
Please do the Walking Dead Kill Count with Characters.
This was both funny and sad.
Joel almost got a 40 bomb
That 8th kill was hard to watch
40 counting the child he dropped into the fire at the start of the series.
Those were dead bodies, not alive people
Ah that makes more sense
+ kills in 20 years before
Man I ♥ this show

I’m sorry for making this a carnage count, But not today not on this day.
This is just his on screen count 😳
Obviously, be a bit hard to count ones that aren't

The show had parental controls on the whole time. They turned the last of us into a family friendly experience.
Not really sure two dozen scenes of Joel slamming someone's head into a countertop would have added much
