His greatest fear is dying alone yet he's willing to embrace that fear if it means restoring the time of the ancient elves that he himself destroyed. I hate that I love him
He destroys his world because he was impulsive and failed to consider the consequences of his actions, and how they would affect the world as he knew it. Now, he wants to destroy the Inquisitor's world in order to fix the world he already destroyed? Solas isn't learning from his mistakes, he's wantonly repeating them, which makes him more evil than any of us wants to admit.

The Solas romance storyline is the only instance I know of in fiction where the protagonist and antagonist are in love with each other and it’s so compelling. It’s not a toxic relationship, Solas doesn’t mistreat the inquisitor, he genuinely cares about her. But both of them have to put their duty first, regardless of their feelings for the other. I have my complaints about DAI, but I can’t deny this is incredible writing.
I'm a big RPG fan, yet this remains the only one where I play a female pc. Purely because the story thread of the game with the Solas romance is so compelling and intriguing.
Hmm, Solas lies about who he really is, doesn’t reveal that he gave his orb to Corypheus, breaks up with the inquisitor during an incredibly intimate moment without giving any reason, still calls her vhenan after said break up, and leaves without saying a word after he doesn’t get what he wants… how is this not a toxic relationship?? Lol I love Solas, but believing this isn’t toxic is wild.

The very first time I played, I was entranced by Solas’s love of history and memory. As someone deeply devoted to the study of history myself, it was so neat to have a love interest like him, who found value in memories and sought them out. I originally thought he was a man who felt estranged from both the Dalish and City Elves and wanted to pursue the glory of his people through memories, a hermitic self-taught academic that acted aloof but was actually someone who struggled to connect with others because of everyone else’s lack of interest/understanding in the knowledge that could be found deep in the Fade, and that your Lavellan helped him relax a bit and learn how to let himself enjoy other peoples’ company, to appreciate what was going on in the material present rather than obsess over the lost details of the immaterial past. I was half right on all of it, it turned out. 😅

Well, good news is that it's been confirmed that you will be styling your Inquisitor in Veilguard, so look like they'll be part of the story and should be there for the Solas resolution.
Can someone explain something? Will the elves of Thedas be destroyed along with the world? How will reintegrating the Fade destroy the world? Why didn't he take the Inquisitor with him if he is trying to save her people? What did she mean when she said they will save Solas from himself?
Best I can explain: I do not believe the Elves will be destroyed, atleast not the ones who follow Solas, the rest... When the Veil came up, countless architectures and cities that relied upon magic were destroyed, the opposite will also be true, immaterial will become reality, and everything we know as solid and "real" will be lost as it merges with immaterial. Solas didn't take the Inquisitor because as Cole said "She's real, but being real puts everything into question." Solas hates that he loves the Inquisitor as it makes him question destroying the world. Saving Solas from himself means that she may be able to get Solas to let go of his insane plan, the more Solas cares for the Inquisitor, the more that puts into question everything he's trying to accomplish.
I dislike it when Morrigan explains Elven lore to my Lavellan. The Mythal quest should be enjoyable for my elven inquisitor, but I just picture my Lavellan and Solas walking in the back, nudging shoulders and shaking their heads. It has an explanation, though; when this quest was written, the inquisitor was meant to be a human, and the choice to be another race was added later.
I've watched several different videos about romances in dai and your inquisitor is the most beautiful, she's very lovely! it's a pity though that without mods it's impossible to make a beautiful character, but I guess that's the best bioware could do with frostbite at that moment, after all it's an engine for shooters originally
I never was a solasmancer when I first started playing and am a firm Thom Rainier fangirl. However, after Trespasser, I figured I should see it through... Solas' romance is some of the most masterful writing and voice acting, it gives me shivers. Narratively, it is just so good and I both applaud and loathe how well they made it. The angst... the drama... 10/10, break my heart again.
I’m currently doing Blackwall’s romance and I am in love with it, but oh man Solas is tempting me to make a new character just for him - even though I know they’ll be heartbroken in the end
@@statementofjoespooky1660 Honestly if you have the time for another playthrough, I would do it. I was so surprised with how much Solas' story impacted me, even with how few actual cutscenes the romance gets. The heartbreak is worth it and at least now, we don't have to wait the ten years for the follow up game!
I romanced Solas mostly to suffer the emotional damage, I wanted to go through Lavellan's hurting when the Ancient Elves tell her she's not their kind, as well as Solas' breaking her heart. As a writer, I wanted to put myself in through that to understand.
Watching this while waiting for The Veilguard to release. In the new game I’m going to say the Inquisitor romanced Solas but in reality I can’t go through the heartache of romancing him myself lol
And so he was redeemed he finally did it but at what cost? 😭😭😭man I’m in my feels beating DVA I hate having to move on from both games and losing that first time feeling it breaks my heart how special this game was to me as my first dragon age when I was a teen turning adult and now 10yrs later DVA. I romanced Cassandra as my first their arcs finished in DVA beautifully 😢 love ya inquisitor gang and DVA gang also solas❤
I played as a male elf inquisitor, but I'm going to use this for my canon inquisitor going into Veilguard. So much more appreciation for Solas's character now!
"What did you do?" "I'm low-key responsible for every single person who dies in this whole game. But luckily I'm a fan favorite so will get away with it all."
i just finished the game for the first time and was confused by the ending and what Solas did, i just got the dlcs and im gonna romance him in my other playthrough. ( if i can resist cullen ). Cant wait to see whats different
He was my first male romantic interest in these games and damn did he knock most (if not all) others out of the ring. I think my fav scene has to be when he removes your marking, and it was really nice since IIRC i had one of the bigger ones. I hope they don't f him up in the new game
You're elf is stunning 😍. I've wondered if an elf inquisitor drinks from the well of sorrow and communing with Mythal... would that somehow open a possibility for Lavellan to go along with Solas/Dread Wolf's plan and help restore the ancient elfs and have her rise as the "new" Mythal and rule over the Elves in the sky with Solas by her side? I know it's far fetched but I think it would be a really cool alternative ending for the inquisitors story and the only way her romance with Dread Wolf doesn't end completely tragic (at least not doe them, can't say the same for the rest of the world) 😂. Unlike most people, I understand Solas and somewhat agree with what he is trying to do! I love the complexity of his character and his story, it has great potential for a plot twist that could knock the socks right off our feet!!! Todas nosotras quemados SOLAS llorando por Solas 😂
My elf Inquisitor drunk from the well....actually not much difference at the end but one small detail. When she is chasing after qunari and face those big ancient elfs spirit/lighting figures (damn hard to kill) she can listen to the Well and tell them greeting on elvish which is like a password greeting Dread Wolf gave them so they let her pass and join her fighting qunari. I found it so beautiful 😭😭
Why is it that Solas is my favorite character I've ever met, but also my least favorite? Can't believe he betrayed me like that. I thought we had something good going 😢
When he’s discussing the spirit that was king of all he explored was he speaking about Elgar Nan and that maybe he had forgtten who he was in the fade.
Me at 21: Oh what a wonderful intriguing and tragic romance! I will watch the entire playthrough for fun! Me at 28: has to turn it off before the Crestwood scene because it makes me physically ill
Your inquisitor is so beautiful it hurts!!! ❤ It is actually amazing how gentle, caring fascinating and *almost* sincere Solas is with romanced Lavellan. I've always did this romance, it is canon for me. I love that egg so much I would've helped him with his plans if he only let me burn the world with him. In anticipation for the 4th game, i replayed inquisition in 2024 with faithful travelyan and i cannot believe what an asshole Solas actually is. And not to mention what he did to Rook in DA4, so I can see the point where ppl are hating him, he's so easy to hate, as he is easy to love and I think this is masterful writing. I hate that I love him! 😂❤
Seriously, what system are they playing on to get these cute outfits!! Do they make them in the game? What am I doing wrong? Please... people are asking..
i am so sad... i am playing inquisition for the first time and my romance with him is bugged.... the scene on the balcony is broken and i cannot continue our romace :(
How how do you make the character the same you did the female character the elf I want to make a step by step in TH-cam make character elf girl you did please tell me how do you do that
Details are in the description it's only possible on PC as it's a mod and comes with a bug before Skyhold which requires uninstalling the mod then reinstalling it after you get to skyhold.
He was from very long time ago.... he was asleep for centuries, woke up 1 year before meeting the Inquisitor and was restoring his powers for all that time
I have to redo my entire game because of a bug I'm angry and sad but eh I wasn't that far anyways, unlike my last time, that gave me nightmares, I played it for over 100 hours then because of a bug, I had to redo the entire game, plus I have homework so I'll finish that then restart my game lol, I literally was like "Am I really going to kill myself internally because I am rage quitting?" And practically yeah I did, so right now, I'm just too tired to really think lol. But I can't stop thinking about this game even if it causes me so much pain, rage, and sadness.
Gosh all he does is talk about himself and his interests. So much ego! What about her huh Solas?? What about her interests?? If she weren't curious about the Fade and HIS interest in it, he'd be racist and bigoted against her just like he is against all of the Dalish. And then he romances her anyway depite knowing his ultimate plan. Selfish! If he weren't the main villain I'd never romance him again but the betrayal is so romantic with a capital R (meaning tragic, not ideal) and I'm a sucker for tragic romance. 🤓🤓🤓 He's a walking red flag and she's a pick me. match made in heaven. To be fair, his perspective is actually incredibly unique and interesting in this story, what with being the one to create the Fade and all. Honestly it's Lavellan I don't respect, mostly because she is a poorly written protag. I hope bioware does less "pleasing no one by trying to pleaee everyone" with the protag next game and actually gives their protag a personality like Hawke, or leaves them unvoiced so we can create our own. The DAI protag has zero personality. They gave up the spirit of the story to try and suit everyone, so they suit no one with their dull and uninspired MC. At least we can mod her to be pretty tho, she is fun to look at.
I romance him because I like the drama but to be honest a rival romance would have been perfect for him I would have liked if the Inquisitor could stop being a pick me girl and start telling him to shut up
well youre pretty much spot on but with the quizzys zero personality... they are supposed to be a blank slate anyway, for us to voice how the quizzys peronsality should be. well at least in my opinion
@@chumbo8032 yes that's how Bioware intended but it makes the actual story boring. When I play a game I want to become a character who already exists, I don't want to have to create a character myself, because that character will never truly fit in with the world the way a predetermined character does.
@@chumbo8032 Yeah but no matter how "fun" you try to be in your choices, your inquisitor is still really boring because the answers are boring themselves My warden was a bitch sometimes but it gave her personnality
yeah, it would've been nice if there'd been more personal options to choose from. like in Haven Josephine will ask a Trevalyan about their family, and if a mage, circle life. You can respond by (for example) saying your family doesn't like you much and that you had a mad crush on a templar in the circle. Makes it a lot more interesting imo. But that's also the only time you will come across dialogue like that. Imagine bonding with Cullen over young lost love in the circle... lol
Weird af. I got a very high approval from Solas, I conscripted Templars, liked his ghosts etc. The only topic I disagreed on was blood magic. That's it. Then when the dream scene kicks in (which is a prerequisite for Solas' romance, mind you) I don't even get an option to kiss him. And that was right after getting to the Skyhold. And I'm playing female Lavellan. If that is so, then what is the point of the dream scene, since it only plays when the romance is about to commence (and other prerequisities were already met)? I ought to have a choice whether kiss him or not, but no, no kiss option _at all_ . Like if I am playing a human female, but I don't. So wtf actually? I think I got a bug in the game.

Watching this while waiting for The Veilguard to release. In the new game I’m going to say the Inquisitor romanced Solas but in reality I can’t go through the heartache of romancing him myself lol
I try to imagine how solas felt when morigan she was best suited 😂
Wow the elves are so goddamn sneaky.
I’m debating to romance him but I love the iron bull so much
It hurts of you think what they are going to do in the next game with all of this :(
This is why I like Cullen better he doesn't break my heart
We get an ending to their story in the new game, a sad one though
~just started playing DA: The Veilguard, excited and rooting for my fem Inquisitor to hopefully make love conquer it all~
NOoooooOoooOooo 😭😂😂
That's truly questionable if this end is sad for the inquisitor or Solas
I didn’t think it was sad
It’s not really sad, but it is kinda bittersweet.
Not me being toxic wanting solas to betray me in another romance in veilgaurd and being disappointed i couldnt put myself through that twice 😅
I have a feeling veilguard is going to make me cry when it comes to Solas.
It will
LMAO yep
I’m loving the armor tho. The black and gold one
I played as a male elf inquisitor, but I'm going to use this for my canon inquisitor going into Veilguard. So much more appreciation for Solas's character now!
"What did you do?"
"I'm low-key responsible for every single person who dies in this whole game. But luckily I'm a fan favorite so will get away with it all."
Why? Why did I choose him? I literally fell in love with his character and it hurt so bad when I reached the end! Stupid well written romance 😂😅
I love how speaking elven is so romantic
Girlie standing with her skin out in the snow seems very silly lol
Coming back after Veilguard to relive their romance from the beginning all over again ❤
i just finished the game for the first time and was confused by the ending and what Solas did, i just got the dlcs and im gonna romance him in my other playthrough.
I'm really hoping the Inquisitor and Solas have a moment in the new game
Hajajajja el cambio al español fue inesperado
@@jakobrenner2230 😉
My elf Inquisitor drunk from the well....actually not much difference at the end but one small detail. When she is chasing after qunari and face those big ancient elfs spirit/lighting figures (damn hard to kill) she can listen to the Well and tell them greeting on elvish which is like a password greeting Dread Wolf gave them so they let her pass and join her fighting qunari. I found it so beautiful 😭😭
Omg the inquisitor's casual outfit 😍 how you get???
Why is it that Solas is my favorite character I've ever met, but also my least favorite? Can't believe he betrayed me like that. I thought we had something good going 😢
37:56 I totally get I now 😭🖤
When he’s discussing the spirit that was king of all he explored was he speaking about Elgar Nan and that maybe he had forgtten who he was in the fade.
How do you get that outfit? Is it only for elves?
In case you're still wondering, it's mods. PC mods give you various NPC outfits.
Me at 21: Oh what a wonderful intriguing and tragic romance! I will watch the entire playthrough for fun!
Me at 28: has to turn it off before the Crestwood scene because it makes me physically ill
Can anyone recommend a book that’s similar to inq and solas?
52:34 for a sec i thought Morrigan had a Bayonetta ahh haircut
Your inquisitor is so beautiful it hurts!!! ❤
It is actually amazing how gentle, caring fascinating and *almost* sincere Solas is with romanced Lavellan. 😂❤
how do you trigger the very last cut scene?
Dlc
Seriously, what system are they playing on to get these cute outfits!! Do they make them in the game? What am I doing wrong? Please... people are asking..
The outfit and hair style are mods. They're not from the game
@@redhead2915 thank you
Yes, they are mods. I did my mods through software called Frosty on PC. But maybe some exist for other platforms.
Some of the gear is from the trespasser DLC.
sometimes, Solas reminds me of Sheldon especially when he moves.
In the end we didn't kill corypheus? She just send him to fade, so when solar destroys the veil he come back
21:11 how do you get this outfiiiittt
i am so sad... i am playing inquisition for the first time and my romance with him is bugged.... the scene on the balcony is broken and i cannot continue our romace :(
Thank you for this video also your inquisitor is lovely what were your sliders 😊
I'm going to break this man's soul in Veilguard lmao
How did you get tht really cute casual outfit!
Ok, why the hell he decided to ruin the Veil again? In the Veil guard I don't understand...
How how do you make the character the same you did the female character the elf I want to make a step by step in TH-cam make character elf girl you did please tell me how do you do that
Details are in the description it's only possible on PC as it's a mod and comes with a bug before Skyhold which requires uninstalling the mod then reinstalling it after you get to skyhold.
crazy but i feel like this playthrough needs to be seen as "canon"
god i love the black top outfit, how do I get it?
SOLAS SLIGHTLY APPROVES 🥚
I’m so confused on one thing throughout this whole romance with Solas. When did he become Fen'Harel exactly?
He was from very long
time ago.... he was asleep for centuries, woke up 1 year before meeting the Inquisitor and was restoring his powers for all that time
He was always Fen'Harel
If Inquisition was more story and dialogues and less aimless walking it could have been better than Origins
I’m the biggest DAO d-rider ever and I agree
Everytime I replay this game determined to romance someone else, but always pick Solas.
Here basically for vailgaurd catch up 😅
I love this game
I have to redo my entire game because of a bug I'm angry and sad but eh I wasn't that far anyways, unlike my last time, that gave me nightmares, I played it for over 100 hours then because of a bug, I had to redo the entire game, plus I have homework so I'll finish that then restart my game lol, I literally was like "Am I really going to kill myself internally because I am rage quitting?" And practically yeah I did, so right now, I'm just too tired to really think lol. But I can't stop thinking about this game even if it causes me so much pain, rage, and sadness.
yep, I was in the same situation....almost gave up but then those kiss with Solas.... it was totally worth it )))
… F Solas
That i had plans had me like 👀🥴
Jejeje que linda elfa que creaste xD
Why do i love solas?!?!?!???😅❤😢
Because he tricked us by romancing us with his romantic elven language lol
@@LadyGilraen99 XD XD XD XD RIGHT?!
Watching this before Veilguard!
Watching this the day before Veilguard!
Why why why does the female mc have make animations
What ?
Gosh all he does is talk about himself and his interests. So much ego! What about her huh Solas?? What about her interests?? If she weren't curious about the Fade and HIS interest in it, he'd be racist and bigoted against her just like he is against all of the Dalish. And then he romances her anyway depite knowing his ultimate plan. Selfish! If he weren't the main villain I'd never romance him again but the betrayal is so romantic with a capital R (meaning tragic, not ideal) and I'm a sucker for tragic romance. 🤓🤓🤓
He's a walking red flag and she's a pick me. match made in heaven.
I romance him because I like the drama but to be honest a rival romance would have been perfect for him
I would have liked if the Inquisitor could stop being a pick me girl and start telling him to shut up
well youre pretty much spot on but with the quizzys zero personality... they are supposed to be a blank slate anyway, for us to voice how the quizzys peronsality should be. well at least in my opinion
@@chumbo8032 yes that's how Bioware intended but it makes the actual story boring. When I play a game I want to become a character who already exists, I don't want to have to create a character myself, because that character will never truly fit in with the world the way a predetermined character does.
@@chumbo8032 Yeah but no matter how "fun" you try to be in your choices, your inquisitor is still really boring because the answers are boring themselves
My warden was a bitch sometimes but it gave her personnality
yeah, it would've been nice if there'd been more personal options to choose from. like in Haven Josephine will ask a Trevalyan about their family, and if a mage, circle life. You can respond by (for example) saying your family doesn't like you much and that you had a mad crush on a templar in the circle. Makes it a lot more interesting imo. But that's also the only time you will come across dialogue like that. Imagine bonding with Cullen over young lost love in the circle... lol
can't wait to show egg how mad i am in veilguard after leaving my lavellan in the dust for 10 years lmao
I think I got a bug in the game.
did you flirt with him in haven?
You have to talk to him in Haven and exaust all dialogue. I made that same mistake a few times with Blackwall.
Bald boy
i hate himmmm
