  • We've achieved the perfect fitment on the GR86 in the rear, but we still have some issues to deal with in the front of the car! Instead of clearance issues with the fender, we have clearance issues on the inner side of the wheel when it comes to the front!

  • @RealWheelDeal
    @RealWheelDeal ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Instead of an 18x9.5 +45, wouldn't a +40 with a 5MM spacer work better? Might be able to skip the extended studs with that.

    • @KevinVo
      @KevinVo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd still need to run extended studs. I wouldn't be comfortable running any more than a 3mm spacer on the OEM studs. As for a +40, that would cause more issues with the rear fitment, which is more of a headache to deal with than the front.

  • @Fraginator
    @Fraginator ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The downside with wheel spacers is that (at least in my area) most shops won't reinstall a wheel with a spacer. Makes it difficult for those who don't do their own work.

    • @KevinVo

    I was looking at the ST XA coilovers and they dont have camber plates. Are they necessary if I plan to lower and add wheels? Or will I be able to have a good stance without that. They're only 1300 compared to the racecomp super steet 1 for 1900

  • @dragoontwo
    @dragoontwo ปีที่แล้ว

    Three things Kevin. Where did you get your torque specs from? The FSM shows different then what you say in the video. I was able to install the 2.5" studs without fully removing the hub bolts on all 4 corners of my BRZ. The overlay that you have for the reverse light bar. Does it fully cover the lens or is it cut to match the opening? It's only 3 body clips to remove the cover and I would prefer the whole lens to be covered.

    • @KevinVo
      @KevinVo  ปีที่แล้ว

      I may have been referencing the FSM for the previous gen. I'm surprised they've changed that much with the parts being almost identical. As for the studs, I was installing the 3" studs so those didn't have enough clearance. The overlay for the reverse light bar is larger than the opening. It covers 95% of the lens apart from the "ridged" outline of the lens.

    • @KevinVo

      If we take some rough estimates, the stud length with the wheel off is ~25mm. The wheel is going to take off another ~8mm so that leaves us with ~17mm of stud length. If you add in 7mm spacer that's ~10mm we're left with. For thread engagement, we want about 1-1.5 times the diameter of the stud which is ~11.8mm. I like to err on the side of caution so I'd like at least 1.5 times that which with a 7mm spacer that would not give us. With a 3mm spacer, we're left with ~14mm which still isn't the 1.5 I shoot for, but at least it's more than 1x the diameter of the stud.
