- THEY"RE HERE!!!! We're tearing out the stock seats in the GR86 so we can install some aftermarket seats! I've dreamt of the day that I would be able to own a pair of Bride Japan seats and today is that day!!! Now to figure out how to make the dash not light up like a Chrismas tree...

Makes me really wish that we had a red interior option here in the states like they do in Japan. It would even be cool on the base trims to be able to get red cloth seats. Cause God knows that the almost completely black GR86 interior needs some color.

Dam that's a shame. I ordered the red interior for mine here in Australia. Must be a right hand drive thing, they only made the red carpets for RHD or something. Seems wierd they couldn't do the same for LHD given the size of the market for those is much bigger.
God, those look incredible with the red exterior. They remind me of the old Type R seats.
This seats scream "quality". I don't understand why would someone pick Recaro over Bride. Even for ergonomic reasons, this just seem so much more comfortable.

Is the Bride brand really pronounced "Briide"? I always thought it was pronounced "Bride", as in "Bridesmaid." I guess I have been wrong all this time. Those are some sexy looking seats!!
That's how it's pronounced in Japan so that's what I go off of. I've heard it pronounced Brido as well.

Bride seats are so damn good! The red is the way to go, beautiful seats. I have been wanting to order the new BRIDE KING ZETA IV FRP KEIICHI TSUCHIYA SPECIAL EDITION MODEL IN RED that recently came out and this solidifies it.

Most JDM seats unless otherwise noted are made for smaller Asian bodies. They do have dimensions you can check out on their website, but I'm not sure I'd recommend this for a larger person as the bolstering would probably become uncomfortable.
Those seats are super nice! I always dreamed of owning a pair of the black bride gias III’s with the bride logo on them. But I think im going to look those pairs up in the future. Now what I think would complement those seats well is a set of oem vertex steering wheel on the car 👌🏼

There is a bit more space, but I don't think I'd want to stuff an adult back there still.
Are the bolsters wider in the Bride seats? The stock seats bolsters cut into my chonky sides.

Yes, these are reclinable. They're Bride Stradia III seats. The actually sit lower than the stock seats so they'll give you a bit more clearance.

Hey Kevin! I’ve been curious what your thoughts are on these seats after having them for awhile now? And how the bolstering compares to stock, even though it’s a more mild side bolstering than other seats do you still feel pretty planted? Ty! Great videos!
They look good! In my mind red seats in a red car is a bit too much but it looks like it works well, especially in a dark interior.
I think because the interior is black with red stitching it's just the right amount of contrast.

I wish Toyota offered the Recaro 86 GR seats as a factory option in the US. Keeps the side airbag and won't risk invalidating the warranty.
I've actually always had an eye on a set of these since I was just getting into the car scene. I think they look amazing, definitely compliment the red on red with the carbon fiber accents; extremely tasteful!

Excellent video! I am looking at a Bride seats recently for my car which I drive mostly on track. Would this suffice you think? I am thinking between this, the GIAS III or even a fixed bucket seats. Any good suggestions here? :)

You'd likely have to install aftermarket heating elements to get heated bucket seats.

Hi Kevin, I have a couple of questions please.
I heard that I can install the heating system in the original seats for around 400€ if I dont have the premium model. Do you think that would be possible to do it on that Bride Seats ? I want to buy them.
The second question is maybe not for you. I live in Europe and I know that many modification on the car must be Homologated / validated by the technical inspection. Someone knows if the swap of the seats must be also homologated ?

I found today the answer to the second question. If the seats comes with an homologation sheet from manufacturing then is not needed to pay for a validation. Just save this document with the car and thats all.
Kevin why are you not posting sponsored links ? Would be nice if you link exactly the part you bought in case that someone is interested on it... even if it is not sponsored... For example I was trying to find the same seats you bought and I found this brand on many places but not this exactly model of seat I think. I found it for the GT86 that I dont know if is the same. ( maybe I am newbee and it doesn´t matter I dont know...)
These are the Bride Stradia III seats. You could probably install an aftermarket heating element if you really wanted to. I'm not sure on the validation process in Europe. I didn't include a link as I purchased these through a personal contact I have in Japan. I've asked if I can share their info and I'm waiting to hear back.

Hey sorry I have a question I have also just installed bride seat in my driver and now my air bag light is on (srs). I have the stock seat belt installed. What do you think is the problem? And if you know how do I solve it?

What is the purpose of occupancy sensors? I don't care if the passenger air bag goes off, without a passenger. Am I missing the point? If that is the point of this sensor, is there a way to just flag it always occupied and ignore the harness?
That red Bride looked really good as a solo seat, too. Might be fun to have one red seat for the driver and a black seat for the passenger. Looks great, either way.

Have you installed a 6 point harness in it yet or know anyone that has and documented it by chance? Got the new race seat in the widebody easy enough but not sure the right way to mount the new 6 point harness :/
waiting for the solution of the occupancy sensor, that is the only thing hold me back getting bucket seats.
So will this setup work exactly the same for a 1st gen FRS?

I like the seats; however, I do have the premium seats and won't be switching them out anytime soon.
How much weight did you save?
I forgot to weight them, but from picking them up I want to say maybe 5-10lbs per seat. They're not going to save a bunch of weight because they're reclining seats. Bucket seats would save a lot more weight.

Did you order straight from Japan? How much was it?
I'm guessing those are the GIASIII. Would love to see those paired with some 4 point harnesses for the ultimate "you ain't going nowhere" feeling. I put some red OMP harnesses that really pop in mine, and doubled up the lap brackets with the oem belts. Did the trick with the ignition on and connecting the oem buckle a bunch of times to disable the seat belt warning. Used the child seat anchors above the rear seats with lock nuts and 1/2'"x3/4" carriage bolts for the square shoulder to match the anchor bracket. Was super tight working back there but got it all done. I'll find out in two weeks when I go for autocross tech inspection if someone else thinks I did a good job.
These are the Stradia III. I believe the Gias III has a bit more aggressive bolstering which I didn't want to deal with in a daily driver.

I wish they made aftermarket seats with airbags for the streets that you could easily disable for track driving, though these are already $2500 each.
They do, but they're very very expensive.

Kevin, are you able to tell how much lower you sit? My helmet hits the roof with the stock seats so I need to drop down a bit. Also, what about seat airbags? Where I live it's a bit of a legal problem to replace airbag seats with non-airbag.
Any idea if there's any way to modify the stock seat to sit a bit lower similar to in the old miatas?
I don't know exactly how much lower but it does have a slightly lower seating position. The airbag is just a personal choice.
They look great on your car and for someone who wants a fixed back seat I'm sure it'll be nice.
New seats look amazing, have you found a website for seats or is it just ebay, or maybe Amazon, love that you traveled to Japan, fun q and a videos, the break trunk bar is cool, hope companies make bar lights , better ones, I love my trunk button, lol so yeah one that make us all really excited for, thanks for the videos

i have the nice, heated, leather and alcantara stock brz seats with the red stitching and "BRZ" embroidered on the headrest and i still want to replace them with these brides 😂😂 i'd probably regret it as i get older but g** damn red brides just look SO damn cool

Did you get the low cushion option or standard?
Seeing that the seats recline removes any doubts on the question of livability. The red really does look good in the all black interior and if I hadn't gotten the premium trim on my own GR86 (and if I was a thinner built person) then I would seriously consider a seat swap. Can't wait to see what's next.

Consider looking at corbeau they have optional heated seats that you could wire directly to the factory switch, plus they come in red as well.
