I'm very excited about this. This was one of the things that really bothered me when I switched from the iPhone to my Pixel 7 Pro. I ended up buying a Tile, but ended up disappointed because they put the most basic features behind a paywall. These native Find-my Trackers seems to solve that issue entirely.
Limited to US and Canada this late in the game is really dissapointing.

Yet another Google feature that is USA only. It's frustrating seeing all these videos showing new features and then realising that we will never get them, especially when the video presenter is English
And we generally pay MORE for less features.

If phones have to OPT IN to be a part of the network, will they not help report other lost devices? If so, that is going to severly limit the whole network.
My understanding was that it's opt in by defualt (I thought the email is so you can turn off the find my network) believe the TH-camr was incorrect as it been off by defualt would make it work unreliable (guess I find out around the 27th)

Chipolo Plans to send the first chipolo one at the 27. May, in Germany. So I think that is a good indicator when Google plans to launch the network in Germany

Peblebee has notified me aswell, they will send my trackers in end of may. Btw i live in Switzerland. But i guess they will send it on this date for the whole world, or was chipolo specific if the shipping is for Germany?

Tried it today with my pixel 8 pro. If I turn off the device - nothing works. On the other phone is just says - device not found.

I think it's great, but it needs to be supported with first party trackers asap, and it needs to be global.
If location and Bluetooth were turned off while missing,will this app can turn it on by itself and work?

Too late lost my Pixel 7 sadly 😢 No offline search and Bluetooth tags was such a bummer lost too much stuff and switched to samsung due to that reason for SmartTag and offline find

Does the thief get the warning of following tag if part of the network.? Bcoz it would warn the thief of the presence of the pin .. 🤔

@@9to5Googlesure it wasn't opt-in by defualt (I thought the email was for opting out of the network) samsung has this problem as its opt out by defualt (you get a popup asking do you want to enable it if you dismiss it offline finding is disabled until you goto find my page on the phone to enable it)
Will only show where they were last connected and when. My watch powered off didn't find my device

I use find my device a lot. Mostly for misplaced items.

Also, but how do you remove devices from this list? I've older pixels still listed in my find my device list. Even though I no longer own them.
Go to your Google account and look for your old devices. You can remove them remotely from your phone.
Any idea if this feature will be coming to iPhone users using pixel buds as well like an app such as Google Photos or something like that. I’m pretty much in the Apple ecosystem aside from my earbuds, which I chose the Google pixel buds for.

Can we use this to find family members? No good way to do that on Google compared to iPhone
You can share locations on Google maps, telegram or signal. With find my you can share trackers as well.

How do i delete a phone though? My 7a is still on there, but I sold it 6 weeks ago. Doesn't seem to be any delete icon.
You'd have to sign out your Google account from that device
Open your Google Account settings.
Click on "Security" in the left-hand menu.
Under "Your devices," select the phone you want to remove.
Click on "Manage devices."
Click on "More" and then "Sign out."

is Find My Device still a part of Google Apps or is it built into AOSP? If it's the former then the claim of Google not being able to track your location must be questioned since it would be bound to your Google account, not just a local account which will require you to trust Google's words.
I can't opt out from this? I can choose to opt out and not use the service myself, but Google will still use my location to determine other users devices locations on the network???? How is no one talking about this?! Dystopian!
Unless Tile decides to join the network, I'll probably replace my tags with an alternative. Find My Device will quickly become much bigger than Tile.

Oh, if it's not on by default people won't use it on Android phones. I had to search for it on my fold 5, update the app and what not. Damn it. Might not work as great as I thought it would.
Everything you need to know EXCEPT how to use it, aside from that it tells you all the things it will eventually do, but not how.

Why do we need special trackers? Why not any random bluetooth tracker, since it's using bluetooth? They're really overpriced, even compared to the already expensive Samsung tags.

Samsung Find my is much better, you can keep persons for taking off your phone, send it battery saving mode so you can find it. ALSO they have a Auto blocker that prevents people from using USB devices to hack your phone

This sounds good. However, my issue has been that android phones are just way too easy to wipe once stolen.
You're getting lucky if you've just dropped or left it somewhere.
If it's stolen, you most likely won't ever get it back even if it's an iphone. An iphone can be easily wiped as well

Samsung Galaxy has had this for years at this point. I've got two Galaxy Tags here. International too.
How can apple have taken all the ground & no one would be interested, this is Android where you can't use Airtags, so so many people have been waiting for a tracking system that ACTUALLY works on Android, can't wait for this to come to the UK, let's hope it's in May when the new tags can get released & not something stupid like autumn. People want them for their travel luggage this summer so they can track when if they get lost.

If anyone thinking about purchasing pixel (8/8pro) then don't go for it!
Big issue is "Overheating!". Won't be comfortable to use it over 10minute!
Even on simple task (scrolling, browsing, TH-cam) it gets pretty hot! And the side frame stays completely hot always and the only moment it cools down when u turn off the phone or put it on flight mode! And avoid using camera.
So what's the use of paying hefty amount for a phone which doesn't let u utilise it!
Better options are Samsung/Apple or anything which is having better performance.
*Dont dont dont waste your money on Google until they skip Tensor! And go with snapdragon!
