I too used to own Redmi K20 Pro. Loved that phone though. Evolution X was the ROM to use !! Custom ROM is what I miss on my Galaxy S24 Ultra

If there's one thing I've learned from flashing custom roms for 10+ years is that the less you talk about something that is spoofing something, the longer it lasts but since you mentioned the google photos spoof I have to ask. Really after "...diving into a bunch of roms in the last few months" that was the best spoof for you, have you tried to use Google pay during that few months? Even if you didn't by dividing into the community you surely heard about Google's best attempt so far to kill custom roms. Btw that imo would be something worth mentioning one of these videos or even in a dedicated one, how Google doesn't have the balls to kill it in one strike and instead is making people unable to use phones with third party software as daily drivers so that they can say that they didn't killed something they always encouraged, people just magically realized that stock is better and stop using custom roms ... yeah right

Regarding the chapter titles: I feel like EvolutionX would be the last ROM I'd call a Pixel Experience successor.
There aren't many except pixel os and evox.
@@thesigma8508 if they called PixelOS the successor, I'd agree. I'm currently running PixelOS and it's very close. EvolutionX is bloated as hell, and only barely comes close to Pixel Experience.
It's about as old as Pixel Experience. I don't know the exact lore, but they evolved at the same time

Finally some videos promoting custom roms. I would love if you could continue with this. New generations should also taste of the custom roms. I`m feeling a bit nostalgic right now.
Of the latest custom roms, Evo X is my favorite. Still offer nice Pixel experience but with really great extra customization.
Amazing review! It shows the power of a custom rom and how it can make a device last longer. I use CrDroid with Poco X3 NFC and it has almost all those too.
Evolution X has really evolved in the kast few years while I i wasn't using it. Glad it's still going strong and still a great custom rom
And now that it's being pointed out to the public I think this would be the end of unlimited storage feature very soon
I'm sad they can't keep hush about it and leave it as a surprise feature for those who open the photos app or settings.
Sad that it may be gone completely for even Pixel owners too unless they can add some hardware level restriction.

I miss loading roms on my old Nexus and droid devices. I think it's time to pick up another pixel to give this rom a shot. Sounds fun to tinker again

Evolution X might be available for the Nothing Phone 1. It's the same exact ROM with all the same features. He (the guy in the video) is just showing it on a Pixel.
Running custom roms back in the day was so much fun. But ever since I picked up a Pixel haven't really bothered to anymore
I understand. The pixel flavour of android is quite good by itself. For other devices, custom roms are still a very much worth it option.

One thing that annoys me a lot lately is the fact that Google blocked using RCS chats on custom roms and unlocked bootloaders. What BS!
This ROM let me extend my Redmi Note 7s' life by another 3 years when I couldn't afford a better phone. Joey is the goat.

evox is great... had great experience with customisations... but more customisation comes with more headache setting-up + bugs 😂 i just need rom with few & only necessary customisations

I've never ran a custom rom on my devices, but I do usually run a custom launcher. The pixel launcher is buttery smooth, but lacks some customization features.

OH MY FECKING GOD... I know right. I had that thing running on a Galaxy S5 and fecking LOVED it. It had everthing I could DREAM of built in and rooting really only added so much to it.
I have a Pixel 5 that I use as a second phone to upload photos to Google Photos. By installing this ROM, do I risk the model not being recognized and losing unlimited free uploads?(all obviously ignoring the spoof in the settings, I'm talking about native model recognition)
Probably, since EvolutionX has changed its base to LineageOS after PE reached EOL.
(Poco X5 Pro)I started using EvolutionX 2 months before PixelExperience shut down, no regrets! This is really better than any other custom rom in my device and in general!

Security updates are released for Android versions, not specific to Phone models.
Yes. I was able to run Android 10 on a Galaxy S5 thanks to custom roms. Granted the performance was TERRIBLE to how much ram the rom used and how much ram the device had but that's besides the point. The point is, is that if a dev is active enough, a custom rom can help extend a devices life further than what the device's OEM intended.

I just got a Pixel 7, rooted it and messed around with some rooted related things.
This ROM is GREAT if you don't wanna root but want customisation features that with the stock pixel os is only possible with root.

9.0 is changing base to LOS maybe it will be possible to get OTA for major new versions but so far new android or maker change has required Clean flash

Sadly a limitation. Can still be toggled off.
They have stopped development for phones 2-3 days back after privacy issue was raised until indefinite time. The developer had posted.

@@Anothersigmamale I'm the lead dev of Evo. Only Evo AOSP was discontinued. Evo based on LineageOS is what's in the video and will continue forward.

Till 9.0 there was no version without google and 9.0 haven't been released yet
There is no version without google Play services as far as I know. It's basically Pixel Experience but with lots of customization. Like really really a lot of customization
This rom is good enough. but after Android 14 released i don't have planning to install Evolution X Android 14 (a.k.a ver 8.x) because very heavy and some feature is missing from Android 13 and buggy too

It uses LineageOS as the base, with Pixel features and additional customization. So all the fixes LOS has and more.
Can Evolution X be used on the latest Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra?
If you are in the US or Canada, No.
If you are not in the US or Canada, as long as there is a supported build, yes.
For more info, Samsung phones in the US and Canada have a permanently locked bootloader regardless of if you buy the device from a carrier or unlocked so rooting and even flashing custom roms is 100% impossible.
This looks like a great ROM, I only need it to rebase to GrapheneOS as the base, that would make it so much more powerfull.
But GrapheneOS is made to be a De-Googled ROM, while EvoX includes GApps, so I don't think this would work.

Yeah, but honestly the one big that is broken if you run a custom rom and have an unlocked bootloader is RCS will not work.
RCS not working is honestly not that big of a deal, SMS is perfectly fine and if you need to share videos, WhatApp and other similar platforms exist.

I had this running on my Pixel 7 (that I got like a week ago) and the charging speeds were the same as the stock rom.
It could vary depending on your device.

Newer signed builds will pass play integrity by default will allow Google Pay to work fine again.

It's okay I got a 2230 m.2 SSD and enclosure for it so now I'll be able to use and mount long as it's rooted, I guess
The firmware is good, I've been using it for a long time, the only negative is that Joey was too lazy to transfer the Evolution launcher to the A14.
That's why I stayed on A13.
Call it 'too lazy' is not fair. I guess you're not aware of the context.
Google keeps adding changes which often cause the launcher to have compatibility issues. Sometimes you setup your home screen and in the next update the default launcher changes and you lose your home screen and have to set everything up again from scratch. So sticking with the pixel launcher was a sensible decision

Doing work for an open source community is really fine, but manipulating users for money, every second time for repaying loans or buying gifts for girlfriends or food for cats or to build his own PC without even caring about providing Jenkins to the maintainers
