As a drummer, I always love the philosophy of guitar players writing the drums for the backing track. “Ok so crash cymbal on every downbeat, snare on 2 and 4, and the bass drum on every single guitar pluck no matter how fast and ridiculous.” Reminds me of writing and playing music with my best friend back in the day. 😢 Not a huge fan of djent but this is awesome. Your tone when you play high on the fretboard is incredible. Love that dissonant chord with the bends at 0:16.
Thanks, I'm actually a drummer myself! Definitely have a bad habit of programming generic drum parts early in the writing process and then not changing them later on 😄
A lot of the ambience is me just messing with random guitar noises and reversing it with boatloads of reverb, but sometimes I'll use a pad synth for a similar sound
@DjentyMcDjentFace7990 been playing music for about 15 years and have not come close to your level of playing on guitar 😭😂 went to school for it as well, I know many instruments and have been a producer for a while now, found a decent audience but been wanting to expand on playing for a while hahaha just need to escape production for a while 😂
This is like my 89th attempt at getting help with thall. Maybe i should just give up at this point but the thing is, as someone who is self taught, i just cant seem to fucking nail the sound and energy of thall. So is there anybody out there willing to give me some guidance on where tobegin writing music like this? Any tabs someone has access to for certain songs for example? I hate how niche thall is too, like damn i can never find tabs lol
Definitely depends on the sound you're going for and what instrument you have, but I got my start from checking out Vildhjarta tabs (specifically Den Helige Anden) and learning the riffs and patterns from there. I might make a video about it in the future.
Don't know any with this exact aesthetic, but Karmanjakah have a few tracks that venture into "uplifting thall" territory ("Breathing" is a good starting point I think). Glaciers might also be a band to check out, on that darker side but has some really cool use of cleans over heavy riffs.
But according to Calle and Daniel (guitarists in Vildhjarta) "pretty thall" would just be regular old djent. The thing that separates the two of them is the fact thall is dark and moody. Sorry for the "umm, akshully 🤓" ass comment, just that I happened to read an article recently on the topic of thall and Calle & Buster were breaking down key points and aspects about the sound. That was still dope though
Saying the difference between thall and djent is that thall is dark and moody is like saying that the difference between rowboats and sailboats is that sailboats float on water
@@NoMitherNoProblem Whatever, dude. Just going off of what the dudes who literally came up with the shit (thall) defined it as, so take it up with them
your guitar djently weeps. This is FIRE

Super cool
the ambience guitar part reminded me of old Invent Animate, did you used MIDI to produce it? the whole video is insane
A lot of the ambience is me just messing with random guitar noises and reversing it with boatloads of reverb, but sometimes I'll use a pad synth for a similar sound

Loathe moment
Definitely old school Loathe for sure
I don't wanna make music anymore, you make my music sound like nursery music for children
Songwriting is just as much a skill you can practice as any guitar technique, you don't wanna hear what my first demos sounded like...

Thall is Djent for people who like to add minor second intervals with distortion in between their 0-0-0-0s. It's the same fucking thing
Sounds good I’ll call up Filled Jorties on the tele right now and tell them their invention is stupid and they should reinvent it

Wayyy too much low end but the Idea is soliddddd
