I have to say this video is awesome not only because I’m a gear junkie but it’s cool to hear from people in the industry and to see that they have a personality as well instead of just reading an article about someone. I’ve been watching your videos for years and they are fantastic.!! wedding, photographer, and videographer here, but would love to get into cinema
This detachable option feels very similar to what we’ve seen on the Ronin 4D and it just makes sense. Loving these interviews Matti, keep them coming. 🔥
Just in case you didnt notice, but the footage is really blocky at 0:37. Not sure if it's TH-cam's conversion or your original. But might want to look into a different coded or bitrate. Not knocking you. Just wanted you to be aware
Tico shot the hell out of snowfall. It was beautifully done. Very inspiring work especially shows the extent of what you can do with Sonys for people looking for high end work
So happy to see an interview with Tico! Tommy Maddox-Upshaw set quite the bar with Snowfall's cinematography, so awesome to see an incredible DP meet and improve upon those standards.
As someone whos used the Rialto its certainly a love hate relationship. Yes the Rialto allows you to get into places you normally couldn't in studio but then figuring out how to carry the body or where to safely place the body becomes so cumbersome. Also I do believe the rialto is compatible with both the Venice 1 & 2.
Ehh, ARRI still dominates. The Venice 6k had a good run until the LF came out. The grain structure on ARRI cameras is just so much better than anything else.
Good light hearted cover of the Sony Venice. How come neither you nor Tico mention RED Gemeni while raving about dual native ISO? It was presented in 2018 and is a low light monster used for high end work. The feature is itself is amazing and something we wish more cameras had for sure. All good things!
"Taking over" may be a bit of an overstatement. I work in Hollywood and every one of the nine productions I've worked on over the past two and a half years has used the Arri Alexa Mini LF, save one low budget flick that used a Canon C300. I've heard of a few projects using the Venice 1 & 2, and Red V-Raptor, but haven't worked on any yet. I'd be curious to see the statistics.
For me, I"m like someone here planing ma debut in Sony Venice 2, it was nice video that shows so much good things about Sony Venice 2 👍. Man your video presentation is so nice... you are a happy happy video presenter 👍
how is this even possible... I just subscribed to you... I thought I was already subscribed... I been seeing your new videos pop up on my home page and I been watching you for a very long time.... anyways I just hit the damn button just now. lol
Yes, it seems like the features available in lower-end mirrorless cameras are actually usable for higher-end filming. I mean why not? Don't have to use it if you don't want to, but they are there if needed for certain project or certain scenarios.
@@THELIFEOFCB with the 800 i am thinking it looks darker, I am recording +1 stop and then putting it down in post but still the shadows are quite contrasty in the back so I was thinking about buying the 3rd lamp just to brighten the background but maybe the 3200 and then putting it more down in the shadow or general offset would be solution…
I know you are all on the high-end stuff, and great to see all that is out there. But would REALLY love to see how you set exposure for when you shoot like this, just walking around and such. Is it auto ISO, all manually set? Do you change between scenes/location/situations much? How often in a day do you WB, or have you used auto? just curious. Cheers.
First of all, it’s not taking over Hollywood. More and more movies are being made on the Arri Alexa, or some form of the Arri. Runner-up would be some kind of red camera. The Venice is horrible looking, to me it looks like a soap opera. I don’t know anybody that I admire that would use it.
wait until this guy finds out FX3 can do ISO 12800

I don't why but I never liked picture made by all sony cameras. Even after heavy color grading I find that shadows looks terrible. When I check what camera was used on production that I liked it is mostly Arri, Panavision, Red. I liked Sony only on top gun maverick.
Cannes film festival 2022 again based on 50 movies premiered ARRI 19 movies and Sony Venice 2 😅. Arri is still and always will be the Nr 1 ! Keep dreaming 😜
Who thinks the Rialto is the coolest thing ever for a cinema camera? I likeee
Definitely think so. Can’t afford the Venice, DJI 4D Flex will let you experience the feeling of the Rialto system
Hmm I'm not sure, look at your images, it's so shaky hand framed !
It is creative freedom that Sony ever implemented in Cinema cameras 👍
And only 12 years after the release of the ARRI M ... ;)
but the AI fingers in the thumbnail. 😭
We feel very proud of Tico here in Costa Rica, he's gone so far on this filmmaking world. Glad to see him on your channel!
Mae soy tico 🇨🇷 no sabia de el, que carga
@@mybetterfilms que bueno mae! Si claro él es todo un referente acá en CR 🇨🇷

Thanks man! Really appreciate the feedback 🙏🏻
I swear someone at Sony had a baby and was like, “wait, I can make a camera with an umbilical cord!”
Hahah “and then it clicked”
I think they just made the idea of the Alexa M modular.
So maybe it was someone at Arri who had a baby and thought that :p
This detachable option feels very similar to what we’ve seen on the Ronin 4D and it just makes sense. Loving these interviews Matti, keep them coming. 🔥
Whatever happened to that camera? I don’t hear much about it now
Yep exactly! I fully agree
@@mattih any regrets going not going this route vs the amazing camera you bought?
Yeah, DJI took that idea from the Venice 1 Rialto system :D
I think both detachable options seem very similar to the Arri Alexa XT M from 2011, that’s what I thought when I saw them😅😅
Excellent "Tico" showing what CR can export, you know how it is! Pura Vida mae!
Very nice mood on the video, and this guy Tico is wholesome! Would love to see more things collaborating like this :)

Your channel has now taken a turn for EXCELLENCE. Keep going!

Blackmagic pocket 4k has been dual iso for years now.
To know so many great movies has been shot with the FX3 as a “b” cam or just some sort I’m really proud to own this camera now

its so fun watching u guys having fun, reminds me when my crew got our new toys too
Am I the only person that think that the vlog footage looks better than that Rialto footage? :D
Same
How ironic/fitting is it that you used the Sony Rialto with the replica Rialto bridge from Venice in the background...
thanks matti, this was just a really. nice video, loved thee energy
I love this VENICE both 1 and 2. It's dual native ISO is amazing.
Great video, what a delight to see Christian Herrera in your video! cheers from Costa Rica!

Let's go Tico!! Pura vida
Tico is an amazing human and professional! Love this video. Pura vida!
When we use both Sony and Arri in the same project we call it Sorri
I'd call it Arny
This channel going places!!!
Very nice how you framed the ouside part of the conversation with the replica of the „Rialto Bridge“ in the background 😉
did your hands start sweating holding that thing?? mine did just watching it

It’s crazy because I love Snowfall especially the last 2 seasons and wondered what gear they used because it looks so damn good
Definitely don't need it, but would be cool to have haha Looks awesome!
Haha non of us “need” it 😂 but it’s someday we will get to choose it 😊
@@mattih so true 😂😂

The ACTUAL 11.7 stops of DR that the Sony 2 has is its biggest problem and the fact they claim it’s 16 is really dishonest.
Stunning canera❤
Funny after watching Tico in this Video i saw him today in Munich at Euro Cine Expo. Couldn't believe my eyes at first 😂
Can't wait to get my hands on em😍😍😍
Tico is such a cool guy! :D

WOW. YOU KNOW TOMMY MADDOX WAS THE DP THE STARTED USING THE SONY VENICE, WHAT A LOOK OVER
New Matti vid. Today is going to be good 😊
🙏🏻 😊
Pura vida Tico!
Matti, so happy to see the last year you REALLY stepping it up to FILM MAKING! THIS is your JAM man! Love the jump in quality
Sony fx3🎉🎉🎉 all-rounder ❤
It’s a beast 🙌🏻
*Matti slowly regretting buying the LF*
Tico is so cool bloody hell
i pretend i have a Rialto when i take my R5C and run a battery bank to it and put the battery bank in my fanny pack.
TH-cam doesn’t do this justice 😔 some of those shots look similar to my a7siii but I know they aren’t even close in reality lol
Bahaha yep that’s the crappy part 😂
The beard looks fantastic 🤙
I am now wondering if you record in the dark style studio should you record 800 or 3200 on the a7iv ?
If you want the scene to look as it is use the lower native iso if you want ti brighten the room go for the higher
Oh, snowfall was a great series
Tico is so good!
when adobe enhancer hits hard :D
Tico is dope, I like him.
Does this camera make Ken Rockwell's blog completely obsolete?

The camera you shoot this video with looks at par can you please tell us the model name.📷
One day Matti will start using the Venice 2 for his youtube channel, and giving us an affiliate link to it, and we will buy it using our 401ks.
What camera did you use in Iceland with the 12,800 ISO? The Venice or something else?
Venice 2 is a fantastic camera. I’m liking the shots from your FX3. What lens were you using and filters?
The Rialto should be a camera all by itself!
Venice 3 will have a wireless Rialto and you can connect 2 to 3 sensors to it
That would be so sick 🙌🏻
I held up the Venice 2 at NAB and was so bewildered... which half is the camera? 😂
Oh cool, it's the the Ronin 4D Flex basically, especially if you have the 8K version.
I wonder who came up with this idea first, Sony or DJI
neither. The Si-2k did this years ago and so did Arri with the Alexa M.
But Sony has had the Rialto system since long before the 4D existed.
nah my guy at 15:00 in the background. I would have done the same thing hahahahah
13:43 Matti 100% work focus 😅
Shot last feature film on it so damn good camera
It is an awesome video/interview ... this camera is insane, the detachable sensor like the ronin 4d could be a new standard ? Greetings from France
Can we compare the sensor to a7s3?
That would be fun!
Is it really new? The Panasonic Varicam? 800 and 5000 native Iso.
I'm loving the Afro Music in the background.
TICOOOO!
I love that guy 😊 he’s just fun to be around haha
what diffusion filter are you using on your vlogging camera? I LOVE this aesthetic!

0:01 I recognise this music from somewhere :D
Tico is a cool guy
What company was the Video Wall, researching this deeply right now, and you didn't say the name?
wait until this guy finds out FX3 can do ISO 12800

Cool!✌️
Interesting video . Good to hear from industry pro's . Not sure i'm a big fan of all the forced laughter though ?
Why did you buy an Alexa then
Too bad you have not been to Cinegear. Sony always puts on some of the best presentations.
I know I wanted to be there! Next year 😊
0:37 I thought Apple has fixed that encoding problem..... I guess not than.....
Anyone know what Mic Matti has been using for these vlogs?
Do you regret buying the Alexa?
Nice to see cinema tech getting an upgrade. Really no need for the massive cameras any more.
3200 iso is not even something our eyes can see? bro, are you drunk?
Thank you Dji.....?
Now you have a tethered 8k camera the size of a red monstro 🤦♂
FX3 with internal NDs please Sony
Just get a fx6 😂
I wish I can afford one 😢
The highlight rolloff is still very Sony :(
I prefer the look of Arri, Red and Blackmagic over Sony. For some reason, Sony has always had a clinical, digital look to it which I am not a fan of.
Arri did this already how long ago? 2011? Oh...
Panasonic Varicam: "Am I a joke to you..."
Everyone: "yes"
So they have internal NDs... Many laughs.
Arri is still most used and better image
Cannes film festival 2022 again based on 50 movies premiered
ARRI 19 movies and Sony Venice 2 😅.
Arri is still and always will be the Nr 1 !
Keep dreaming 😜
Dual ISO. Lol. Major selling point… my headphones have two volume presets too, plus a knob that can go all the way up to 11
Because people there are colorblind? :) Nothing is taking over Arri, all relevant DPs use the Alexa.
Is it ? Or is just sponsorship blindness ?
