    Thank you so much! As stated by someone else, the ‘official’ video by Britax is super short and has a square video over top of the most important part so you can’t see what they are doing. This gives me peace of mind that I’m doing it right. I’ve been trying to get that seat belt super tight then I’m not able to close the seat, which has been super stressful. I’m still having issues with the harness, but that’s another video. ;-)

    **Brix One4Life Safety Seat**
    After many recommendations, we purchased two seats.
    Today, during the first use, we unfortunately noticed that the straps are too short (for 3-month-old babies). The only way I understand to extend the straps is by raising the backrest (the headrest/support), to a level that is not suitable at all for infants, making the headrest too high-however, this does extend the length of the straps.
    Do you know how to extend the straps without raising the backrest (the head support)? A picture of the seat is attached.
    ***Of course, we’ve already loosened the straps as much as possible using the button below the padding.

    • @CarSeatSite
      @CarSeatSite  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Have you removed the infant insert? If not, I would start by doing that. That will give you a couple of inches in harness length. The insert is there to boost babies up so their shoulders are above the bottom harness slots. As long as that’s the case when it’s removed, it’s optional.

    This video is so helpful thank you. I have a question that I’m curious if anyone else has this issue. When I go to tighten my little one in this car seat, I have a very hard time getting the straps tight. I can get it tight but only with ALOT of work. Anyone else have this issue or know a remedy to this issue?

    • @CarSeatSite
      @CarSeatSite  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Robyn. I was hoping you’d get some feedback from others in our community, but not yet I guess 😊. This seat has a lot of padding the straps pull through and when the headrest is in lower positions, there’s natural friction because it’s pressing on the harness. So, as your child grows, it’ll get better. In the meantime, pull up on the harness over the belly to remove slack from the hips-put as much slack as you can in the shoulders. Then pull it tight. That should make it easier. 😊

    • @kaitlynbobak8522

    • @CarSeatSite
      @CarSeatSite  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cookingsection568 Reclining the carseat generally gives more legroom, but older kiddos like to be more upright. Adding the anti-rebound bar can help as well since that will push it away from the vehicle seat back by an inch or so. At some point, your child will have to learn to cross-cross applesauce their legs for more comfort. You can them learn by folding their legs for them when they first get in the seat, but there is an awkward stage for all kids in all carseats when their legs are a little too long to stick straight out and they have to bend them a bit.

    • @CarSeatSite
      @CarSeatSite  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jesse. The One4Life isn’t the type of carseat that can be placed on a stroller. If you want a carseat that can go on a stroller, you want a rear-facing only infant seat. These carseats have handles, which makes them easy to distinguish at a glance. First and foremost, I would figure out which twin stroller would work best for you. This will be your most important piece of equipment in terms of functionality and you won’t want to penny-pinch (all carseats must pass minimum safety standards so you know they’re safe; I’ve had crappy strollers and they’re a PITA). All major carseat brands make infant seats, though not all will fit on all strollers. Check on which adapters will work with which infant seats so they’ll work together.

    • @CarSeatSite
      @CarSeatSite  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I haven't seen anything in either the Model X manual or the One4Life manual/Britax FAQ about touching the front seats, so there shouldn't be an issue. I don't feel comfortable advising you to brace the carseat firmly against the front seat since the airbag components may be affected (even though they're in the bottom cushion, it's an important safety feature not to mess with), but light touching should be fine. Also, be sure Easy Entry is turned off since that affects automatic movement of both the front and 2nd row seats.

    • @eva.sprinkles
      @eva.sprinkles 3 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @hugedomer22
    @hugedomer22 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This video is incorrect, the Britax manual states that you must lock the seat belt before using the click tight feature. While it starts off tight it will loosen over time or with a sudden impact.

    • @CarSeatSite
      @CarSeatSite  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. When using a lap/shoulder belt, you do NOT lock the retractor. The ClickTight panel serves as a lockoff that will keep the seat belt locked on everyday driving. If your lap/shoulder belt is loosening on daily driving, give Britax a call; they'll probably OK locking the retractor but I would NOT suggest doing it otherwise. Also, make sure you're routing both the lap AND shoulder portion through the belt path and under the ClickTight panel.
      The manual only states locking the seat belt if you are installing when using a lap-only belt and that is because lockoffs don't work on lap-only belts to keep them in a locked position. The latchplate must be in a position where it can stay locked or the seat won't be safely installed.

      No, all of Britax's harnessed carseats have lockoffs as well as Clek's. Many of Graco's seats do now as well. There are quite a few carseats out there with belt tensioners, where you do have to lock the seat belt; they look and act like lockoffs, but aren't. It's very confusing. I should do a video! Your instructions about the harness being at or below the childs shoulder is INCORRECT. It must be at or above the should by no more than 1 finger thickness! Read the instructions manual

    • @CarSeatSite
      @CarSeatSite  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. Can you tell me to which instruction manual you're referring? On pg. 18 of the most current (and the first) manual, it says, "with harness straps in closest position below the child’s shoulders". General advice is "at or below the shoulders" for the harness because in rear-facing, the harness's purpose is to keep the child down in the carseat during the crash sequence. Manufacturers, of course, set their own rules based on testing. Finger thickness should never be used because it's not a standard-your fingers are a different size than mine, which are a different size than my husband's. It was used in the very early days of child passenger safety, but since we've gone toward a more science-based approach, we use more replicable forms of measurement.

    • @faithhill2054
