This is The best mustang channel on TH-cam. If you disagree, then your one of those people who enjoy the clickbait and all of the videos labeled " you won't believe how the cold air intake destroyed my car!!! " Or " my car just made MASSIVE power by installing one simple mod!"

This video is a perfect example of why this is the best Mustang related channel on YT - actual useful information backed by science (or pretty close to science). The other channels are mostly fanboy feel-good - "we're gonna test my new exhaust/ splitter/hood vent/grill," etc nonsense.
BTW - you left the hood open on the GT350 run :)

Thanks Alex. great info. I always wondered why people change to the '18 manifold? I was amazed to discover the GT4 Mustangs have stock 2015 manifolds and a X plane Crank. They apparently make max power at like 5500 rpm and then rev on to 8000! This enables the driver to negotiate the twisty tech part of the track without having to change gear... your graphs show this well. But.. you have to wonder why they dont use the GT350 manifold???

Thats fine if you're ok with having the slowest at the track. Those other manifolds will spank the stock intake in a drag race or roll race it may not matter to you some dont care about modding their car to go faster and that is fine but if youre trying to be faster na a manifold swap IS A MUST...it will make the car significantly faster at wot redlining to the new redline of 7500-8k and with the aggressive gearing these cars have and some good tuning you prob wouldnt even barely notice the torque loss...the cj i dont even think loses torque neither does l&m intake only cams (which is the setup i wanna do) but those two together will gain 50+ whp over even an 18 manifold even larger gains over a stock 11-17 car. People worry too much about that torque at 3-4k....when the power gain up top has a much more significant effect on maximum acceleration than the torque loss does at lower rpm by a long shot. Some dont realize just how big a difference that 30-40 extra whp past 7k makes on maximum acceleration. Its pretty significant and even more so when combined with cams

I think the gt350 intake manifold and 3.73 gears on an automatic wound be an awesome combination the low end punch from the gears and top end pull of the intake manifold wound be perfect. Plus the gears would keep you in the sweet spot of the rpm. Through some e85 and longtubes or cat delete it would be a killer street setup

Did you move around vct any? I apologize if I missed it. The 18 intake swaps on s550 and s197 cars I have done wanted some different valve events with the 18 manifold. I tuned both via mph in the quarter, though, not the dyno so other factors could be involved. However, I was seeing slightly higher maf lb/min numbers moving vct around slightly.

I appreciate the fact that you took the time to test the three intakes, but it is far from apples to apples. I bet the '18 intake or the GT350 intake would have had much better low speed torque production if you tested apples to apples with IMRC active. Lots of people seem to be using an MSD window switch to activate the IMRC. Would be an interesting test.

So a ported 18 manifold is the same as gt350
That's my next mod on my 18. Thank you sir for a good info video
My buddy got a 18 stock ported manifold pulls me pretty good up top.

It would be comparable the gt350 may still be better but itd be close. A ported gt350 would def be better but it cost more...cj even better but it costs more but if youre trying to go fast na ported cj is a must...find a used one already ported for a grand or so...youll have the edge over every other similarly modded stang 18 up that doesnt have a cj. You just gotta decide what is more important saving money and running good or spending some cash and running even better

From a test performed on my Gen II swapped fox. The 2018 lost hardly lost any torque while making more horsepower and increased rpm. This was an apples to apples test as both the gen II and gen III intakes were locked out. The gen II loses torque locked out. If you are going to run a 2 or 3 the same way, the 2018 is king.

Alejandro, I have a question. I have a 2018 Mustang GT and it's never been dynoed. Let's say that the HP numbers are average for a stock off the lot GT.i'M trying to decide on whether to do headers or not. I don't like loud. I want to know what is the horse power difference, IF ANY, if I stay with stock exhaust/manifolds, but add a E85 tune, and a CAI..... verses, adding a E85 tune, CAI, stock exhaust and cat-less long tube headers?

After looking at every intake comparisons I could find I still think the stock one is the one for me. Gen II road race car.

For road racing the 18 is a way better choice. Especially if you have 3.73 gears.
With the stock mani you are constantly shifting because the power and is so narrow, if u go 18 and raise the rev limit to 7500 or so that's pretty much perfect for our coyote and for a road racing app
