Being an artist is the most beautiful thing I know. You had a giant caterpillar in your head and said “no, this needs to be out here in my hands so I can show it to people” and then you just did that. Incredible.
As someone who loves color-changing things and articulated things, you can imagine my raw delight at seeing this little champ. It's so adorable! Probably one of my favorite things you've made. Great job Kayak!
Nice to see you working on other projects that don’t pertain to prehistoric animals! Amazing work as always. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next
You should add lore to this: megalepidoptera is a genus of proto Lepidoptera that is found from the late Carboniferous to the late Permian, they are the ancestors of moths, and butterflies. A genus of them includes the first fossil of one called megalithus, the one featured in this video *AKA it’s larval form* another genus features the biggest one in this genus, megalepiro.
This is absolutely gorgeous. You captured everything about this lil guy PERFECTLY. Someone should hire you to design props I swear. Keep up the stunning work!!
I really really appreciate how you walked through the ZBrush sculpting steps! I know not many people have access to software like that or even have the time to work with it, but as an Animation student working with Blender it was really satisfying and helpful to see those extra steps. (I don't plan to make something like this, but just seeing how other people's workflow stimulates the creative part of my brain)
Caterpillars only eat the type of plant that the butterfly lays it's eggs on. They can't eat anything else besides that plant (monarch caterpillars eat milk weed, ect).
i think something really cool for you to recreate would be those animals that were found cuddling right before dying its known as “The saddest fossil” or “A triassic cuddle set” you could make the fossils or the animal cuddling, it would be really nice
There's two FDM printers and a Anycubic resin printer running in the back of my office right now. That BEEP BEEP from your new Jupiter had me frantically checking my printers for an error. 🤣
What a cute lil(big) guy!! You did such a phenomenal job bringing him to life! It's so awesome seeing your capabilities and skill increase with each video you post man! Keep up the amazing work!!
artist youtubers are the smartest people ever. you just get whole 3d printing machines and paint to play with LOL. loved this little feller, very cute.
You can increase the tolerances in your modelling software, so things don't fit that crazy tight. When curing, resin tends to shrink, but not uniformly, so you can't rely on that. I would also sand a bit the parts that need to slide on one another if i see it requires too much force.
Wooooo, what a gorgeous little lady!!! Look at her shine woo woo woo yeah! (no i don't know what that reaction was either, I was just really excited.) Gorgeous, good job!
Did I know I wanted a glorious process video for making a giant stingy caterpillar? I did not, but you delivered it anyway and that's why you are my very favorite TH-cam creator.
The way i have to stop my fear of caterpillars for a moment just to watch this video 😭 Quite difficult to not to get goosebumps when looking at those zoomed pic but the video is sooo good not to watch sjsvsjsbske
Caterpillar hairs are almost always used for sensing movement in the air and vibrations around them. Sometimes, these hairs may not be poisonous but might be sharp enough to stick into you and irritate your skin a little, sort of like tarantulas do. The ones that sting will have much thicker needle like structures on their bodies instead of fine hairs.

Conveniently forgetting the Z- brush license and a top of the range 3-D printer.

Oh yeah that things absolutely adorable (throws slipper at it in fear) yep totally normal, ya know it kinda looks like a Shiba Inu (no it does not)-
Snom is looking a little different today...
So cute!!
Who? 😂 snom is so cute as a name
@@BlackChamomileit's a tiny ice-type caterpillar pokemon, it's super cute lol
If someone makes a toy brand on prehistoric creatures like the Dino Rider series, stuff like this would be awesome in it!
Cyberzoic is doing that w Dinos. Insects would be super cool
I agree! We need prehistoric animal toys like from dino rider!
Don't think a creature like this looks rideable.
This is just fantastic. I couldn’t believe the thumbnail wasn’t just a photo of the original caterpillar till I watched the video. Superb work!
9:35 what adorable giant little gentleman
Man I'd love a man like this. Sounds dead inside, crafty, good sense of humour, and most of all: dinosaur and bug loving

Glad to see another Studson fan here 😂

you should do the hickory horned devil caterpillar next! it's so beautiful, and some variations look like branching coral.
the amount of detail put into this is jaw dropping
