I agree with this list. Id add that I noticed the lack of waves on the shore which would have been awesome, and the sound of them. Plus being able to dive deeper and find stranger wildlife and treasures. Hearing planes fly overhead or seeing a fishing boat in the distance once in a while, for use with the flare gun for a chance of survival late in the game would have been cool.
No waves, yeah I didn’t even think of that. But, actually there is a plane that flies overhead! purely for show, but it does happen, not sure if it’s scripted or just random.
It feels as though originally they had expanded plans for the content , where the flare gun, and that other plant that' u can't use,the wavuwala (or what ever it is called) would be used in some way. On ps4 u can't use those items
@@sammymitch844 some extra plants was meant for an extra sensory boost. To highlight enemies or loot. I agree with most was said, mostly that I love the game and hope they keep at it.
Also in agreement. WE NEED A MAP!!!! Pro-tip. At a new island, walk from the center in the direction of your home base. At the beach edge, place a camp fire. Now you will always have a maker towards home- bonus, and a spot to cook that way-too-severely-limited-shelf-life meat.
The lack of a map thing - for the longest time, I hated this. More than once, while out gathering supplies, I'd get lost and struggle to find "my base island" (and I'm on the PS4 - with only 21 islands!) After playing more, I realised that I could see a "rather large ship" from my base. So now, based on the time of day and the position of the Sun - if I can see that ship, I can always (fairly) accurately plot my way home. Adapting to the game, like that, has made me feel even better about the survival aspect of the game! Definitely agree with, pretty much, everything else you've said in this video!
Oh man... I love how well this game is optimized! I own only one machine and it's a potato laptop and man does it run well and still look good. The sun, the shadows, the water, how good the reef looks during a midday storm, the wildlife and wrecks, it all looks so good. And apart from very infrequent lag spikes, I runs very well. Great analysis btw! Another complaint I have about the tool belt is that it doesn't give you quick access to groups of the item, instead it selects the specific item. So if you break a pick while mining, and you switch to your refined spears for shark defense and you throw it at the shark, you'll have to reset your pick and spears on your tool belt. They should've just have the tool belt automatically set to each slot clockwise from your hand if they aren't going to make it usable as extra storage.
@@AnUnlikelyHero Same here. I do eventually make the toolbelt though. I have lots of fibrous leaves and rawhide in late game that I don't know what to do with so I just end up making it.
Hate - Few ways to get water. You have coconuts and a still that requires a constant supply of palm fronds and that's it. Realistically you could easily get clean drinking water from the ocean by soaking a cloth and catching the condensation from it in the exact same manor as using the fronds at the still. Alternatively you could build a well and filter the water, again using cloth, then boil the water to make it safe to drink. I think water collection needs a major overhaul in the game.
Yeah absolutely, just add one more type of end game way to get water, but a lot of games have this and after mid game food and water and no longer really a problem, like Raft if you’ve played that. Think they were trying to keep it a survival game throughout, but it does get a little old lol
Technically these stills wouldn't actually work. You'd have to dig a hole in the ground and lay the plastic over the hole. The way the game shows you, you would never get any condensation at all gathering on that plastic. (Plastic as cloth wouldn't work).
I hope there's more to come. I agree with almost everything you said. I wouldn't say the tool belt upgrades are completely useless though. It kind of gives you 4 extra inventory spots. Can store your tools you use often in the belt and frees up inventory spots.
I agree with a lot of your likes and dislikes, it's the map thing that really gets me! I thought that I could read a compass pretty good, but when out exploring recently I got lost for 4!!! game days before I finally found my base again!
I'm on day 20 something in game and because of videos like yours and others I've been able to sustain myself ,just made the fuel still ,thanks for the information 👍
I’m subbing, hopefully you will talk about the bosses soon. I beat the game back when it came to PS4 and had a ton of bugs and glitches, including not being able to anchor in the boss locations.
Yes! I'm going to make a video about the bosses pretty soon. I can only speak to my own experiences about the game and I haven't really had much issues on PC. But, I started playing the game only this year, so they probably fixed a lot of stuff since it's initial release in 2015.
Another thing to add: the game doesnt bog itself down with some sort of mystery like many other survival games. Its true to its genre, and doesn't try to do too much. Some might not like that, but i like it
Man i love your channel and i love SD. I recently got back into the game, and im enjoying it. do you think there might be something bigger on the horizon? The game is still being supported so what do you think would come next since endgame is a thing already?
Glad you're enjoying the videos man. I'm thinking they just keep adding more animals, more unique locations, and new items. But, they might just keep refining what they already have. Only time will tell!
Things I don't like. 1. Not having a drop all items option. This should have been a basic functionality implemented from the get-go and yet they still don't have it after all these years. Trying to drop 24 fibrous leaves one by one is tedious and annoying. Now imagine all your inventory slots are full of fibrous leaves or any items that stacks (sticks, lashings, etc) and trying to drop them all on the ground or store them in containers one by one. Makes me want to shout profanity at the top of my lungs. 2. The Axe loses its durability at a much faster rate it seems than the other tools because of the constant usage. In actuality that may not be the case, but since we're heavily reliant on the axe for pretty much everything, they should have made it last a bit longer. Also, I often end up losing my axe due to durability lost before I would know what the heck happened. Makes me have to constantly check my axe durability percentage. It would be helpful if there is some type of indication like a noise of some type, similar to when the meat is done cooking it makes a bell sound letting you know it's done so you can extinguish the fire as to not waste fuel, there should be something like that for when your tools are close to getting destroyed like a stick breaking or wood cracking. This way you can do the plank station trick to restore your axe to full durability. I mean, you're already getting notified for everything else like heat exhaustion, tiredness and needing sleep, cooking completion sound, the need to rehydrate, etc. 3. Some of the doors on the ship, especially the underwater ones, are shown as closed even though you've unlocked them. Chances are you'll just have to swim right through the door to know that it's passable. 4. Clay deposits random spawns are terrible. Some spawn on the outer most edge of the reef so when I would mine them, every hit I make makes the clay fragments fall into the abyss, thus losing them. Other times, the clay fragments would fall into places that are hard to find or out of reach, thus losing them in the process. 5. I'm not going to complain about snakes hit points because I've removed them from my game, but if I were to leave them in the game, they would drive me crazy. 6. Why does coconuts gives me diarrhea? In real life coconuts are healthy and good for you. 7. The boars running into the water and disappearing. The devs should set boundaries where boars can't run into the water. I've lost a few boars during my hunts because they would run into the sea and probably fell into the abyss. 8. How can one huge log returns only one plank? At least give us two planks. Trying to build a lighthouse with only planks is tiresome with the amount of island hops I have to make. These are my only gripes. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoy this game. It's very relaxing and helps me de-stress from work.
Yeah these are really good points. On Pc at least since an update awhile back you can make stacks of leaves and sticks exc. on the ground now which is nice. And if you have your crafting skill up your axe durability will last a lot longer, but still when it breaks it can be irritating. I usually carry a couple stacks of them for this reason. But, the clay? So annoying dude I agree lol. Also, love the Data profile pic :p

Adding a simple decay/ repair mechanic would solve this More interactions would be good too; it breaks my heart that I can't spear a turtle.
