      I saw randy on first blizzard tour, and later Jake….having enjoyed and studied both for 40+ yrs,…although this may be unpopular and near sacrilege, Jake is a better player, BUT that doesn’t mean he is better, randy was a better writer and composer which may mean more…..none of ozzy’s guitarist have equaled the compositions on diary of a madman, Randy’s writing was so adventurous, harmonically rich and complex….not really good for me to say either is better, both are better than 95% of the guys then, and a million times better than me

      I know this term gets tossed around a lot, but Tommy imo is so underrated. He's one of the drummers I taught myself how to drum playing along to his songs. I liked him in whitesnake, too. I like how Tommy actually utilizes and plays his entire cymbal setup. Its not there just for show or to have a stereotypical big 1980s drum setup lol. Some guys back then and even today have a huge array of cymbals on their live kits but only use the main crashes in front but even till this day Tommy still uses the same drum set configuration and uses all his cymbals.

      Said it then, still say it now - he was a wannabe compared to Randy Rhoads. His phrasing is all over the place, and he didn't do Randy's parts much justice at times. None of the restraint and control Randy had. He was, in retrospect, trying way too hard. I liked him better by Killer Of Giants, but it was an adjustment.

      He did it for the music like any great musician would want to be a part of. Bob Daisly has said his relationship with Ozzy was pretty good when it was the two of them working together but whenever Sharon showed up Ozzy would always end up taking her side regardless of how ridiculous/terrible/unethical her demands were. It was the very definition of a toxic relationship but she made the money happen so there was no way around dealing with her.

    Ozzy was so on point most of time, live. It's live, it's raw, no teleprompters, no in ears, no click tracks, no dubbed in music, no pitch correction. I saw this tour. Is was $11.00 GENERAL ADMISSION to see the show. That works out to be $34 in today's money.
    The first time I saw Ozzy was on the Blizzard of Oz tour. I spent 2 plus hours pressed up against the fence in front of the stage. The security alley was about 8 feet. Stage was set at 7 feet off the floor. Toldeo Ohio.

      @@jeffhodge7272 😮 that’s amazing. I was 10 when Randy died … and in the days before smart phones , social media and 24 news … I had no idea that even happened until I went to the record store to buy Ozzy’s Speak Of The Devil. It was the first album I was buying with my own money and couldn’t wait to hear it as Blizzard and Diary were two of my favorite albums … and as a beginning guitarist Randy was one of my favorite players. I pick up the record and look at the back and I’m thinking … where’s Randy ? I go to the guy at the store who knew all things rock and metal and asked “Did Randy Leave The Band ?” He looked at me and said …. You haven’t heard ? He died , man. In a plane crash earlier in the year.
      I was gutted. Tearing up the whole ride home with my mom.
      Fast forward 35 years later … and I’m in Miami playing on stage right before Yngwie and Steve Vai played with two very special guests , Niko McBrain and Rudy Sarzo. Before the concert I’m backstage early and who walks into room ? … Rudy. So there’s NO one else at the venue yet and we talked shop for a solid hour, he’s trying out my guitars (he’s VERY good at guitar … makes sense) and he’s letting me play his bass. It was surreal. 10 year old me was jumping for joy inside.

      @joeylodes Wow.That's amazing!
      Brad Gillis was awesome on that SOTD album.His sound was skull crunching and he nailed Randy's links with class.
      When I saw Randy I was just barely aware of him.
      Blizzard tour was winding down and I had started playing guitar.I was blown away by Randy live.
      I remember seeing him rule that creme colored LesPaul.
      And how little he was compared to that polka-dot V he played.🤭

    Ozzy really needs to acknowlsdge that Jake Kept his career on track. This is coming from a Randy fan! Jake had a very hard act to follow, and he did it. HATS off to you Jake!

    This sh!t was cutting edge 40 years ago. 5 guys playing. No click tracks, no backing tracks and the synthesizers were being played by Don Airey and not pre programmed. Look at all the BS and frauds out there today and tell me any of them (with a couple exceptions) are as good as this.

    I would never take anything away from Randy Rhoads, but FOR ME, Jake E Lee was the best axeman that Ozzy ever had by his side...I was fortunate to see Ozzy's tour in Atlanta, Georgia, with UFO opening. I believe it was 3 days before the plane accident. I have been a Jake fan since The Ultimate Sin (my favorite Ozzy album), a hundred years ago. If only Jake stayed with Ozzy and weathered the maniacal Sharon and all her crap. The line-up in this vid is also Ozzy's best line-up, IMHO.. At this stage, they were unbeatable. My 2 cents.
