I went with the CDI Torque 401SM Micro Adjustable Torque Screwdriver, Torque Range 5 to 40-Inch Pounds because I have a gun light part that requires an 8. For anything over 40 I will pick up a fix it stick individual Torque limiter.
I got the 4 limiter kit with ratcheting T handle for $160 on sale, plus 10% off through optics planet. It is a great kit and covers almost all of my needs for my rifles and it is very compact and works great.
Would your smaller kit be a good starter kit for a new firearms owner or simply move into the larger kit and be done with it? Also, would they be very useful in pistols or mainly rifles?
FWIW, the Real Avid unit comes in a box now and does not have a case. Still a more than decent tool for the money. I don't know why but I expected the handle to work as a fixed tool but without being magnetic it has a bit of trouble doing so. See what a did there?
I just got the Real Avid smart torque wrench you have in this video. When you adjust the lbs all the way down does it go to zero? Mine stops at 3 which seems wrong.
First, Thanks for the series and clearing the air from the horses mouth as well as the inadvertent customer service test which passed with flying colors. Now a Question: Do you suggest the average shooter should change out the torque limiters the kit comes with as you did or do you think the torque limiters that came with it would work fine for most people? Or should a person just add what was missing? (Not sure what or how many you changed out) Thanks!
That's a tough question. For me I just knew what torque setting were most relevant to the action screws and scope mounts and I wanted to be on the low side of those in case I made changes. So far that plan has worked out but to be honest, their pre-packed ones tend to be pretty darn close to what most people would need. Worst case you can always buy a new one if you need something that's way outside of what you have.
is the Real Avid an evolution of the tried-true Wheeler Fat Wrench.....which was disappointed to not see in your test...as it is like the defacto standard from what I have seen amongst those that mount their own scopes, etc.
With all the anti-2a that's going around (my beloved MEC is refusing to sell Camel-back products because they're owned by Vista outdoor?!), it's a good question (I've never heard that about fix-it-sticks) and I'm glad he wasn't offended. Seems like his customer service is A+ as well. Great to know.
What's weird about it is the name. Fix it sticks? Sound something my five year old nephew would come up with. With a name like that, it's hard to take it seriously, regardless how highly rated it is.
If I remember right they didn’t have a single torque screwdriver that would cover the range of settings that I would need. I needed something that would go from 2NM up to 6NM and that would require me to buy several of them.
Great to actually ask the company rather than listen to internet rumors, well done.

Great deal and I hope it serves you well.

Thanks for the series and information.
No problem. Glad you liked it.
Check out the craftsman kit, just got it used it on my scope and it’s great

Thank you for the video as well as a very practical and common sense perspective.
Glad it was helpful!
where do you buy your bits. It seems I strip those hex screws on all my pistol red dot screws.
what about the capri tools cp21075?

Yeah he seems like a genuine guy who loves his products.
Thank you for your video. Ok, could you tell us what torque limiters came with your kit?
I ordered mine with an 18, 25, 45 and 60.

I know, it's kind of like "Biden."
I don't care about the name... if I thought a silly name was worth consideration, I wouldn't own any SnapOn tools either.
You should try borka
I know some people love them and I’m sure they’re a great product but for me personally they aren’t what I’m looking for in a torque wrench.
What is the best budget torque screwdriver set?
Probably something like the Vortex is a good balance vs. budget.
Which 4 torque limiters did you get?
15, 25, 45, 60 is my final four.
Thanks again
My pleasure.
Just curious- why didn’t you try the Wera?

@@FClassJohn I think you’re right about that. 18-60 in lbs is the one I have but I remember my previous one being 10-50
@@FClassJohn also meant to ask you- where did you find those feet for the labradar??

@@FClassJohn you’re the man! Thank you
