You are missing the whole point with HDR in Windows 10. You have to go in to HDR settings in Windows and set the HDR to Auto. In the Settings you see 2 videoclips. 1 for SDR and 1 for HDR. You have to set the slider for SDR so it looks the way you want to watch SDR (Windows - TH-cam - movies) What I do is set my monitor to HDR Auto and set the slider in SDR so it matches my monitor. Easy-peacy....
Got it last week. Coming from a TN monitor it's like I've never seen true colors on my screen, so much better. I still need to adapt to the slighty higher latency of the pixels but for that price its a total steal
Just snagged one 30 mins ago for the original price of $437 when they restocked them today. They go quick,they had them price gauged from other sellers at $615.
Hi Pat, Thanks for a great review. I bought this monitor last week but I'm unsure of the type of usb upstream cable to get as I've seen two types. the old printer type usb and and one that looks like a double connection. can you advise what the AOC takes? cheers.
Hi Pat. Thanks for the review. Any chance that you might be from SA originally? :) None the less , I bought one yesterday and waiting for it to be delivered today. I am more of a content creator and software engineer and I was concerned about the colour accuracy but you sold it for me when you said you like the colours more than the IPS panels.
Thanks Gerhard, Im acctualy from NZ :) , IPS has more to true to life colours, so when you do your editing, make sure to grade it to where the content will be played.

The colours are nice and vivid and i found a nice colour profile on my mac for this display which is almost identical to the Mac's display so that helps a lot with grading. Great screen overall. Love the curve and its a breeze to to do multitasking work. I must say even though people say the HDR is useless I enabled the "HDR Game" mode when I was playing COD on xbox and it wasn't that bad.
Compared to a 1080p 34UW but with IPS display, which one would u recommend? Or potentially spending more money to get the same specs with an IPS display, is that worth it?
I just wouldn’t go 1080p on such a large monitor it will look really bad. And unless you are doing photo or video editing the IPS isn’t going to help you
@@TechManPat Are you still using it and are you happy with it? My other concern is that I only have a laptop with a gtx 1060, I might upgrade to 2070RTX soon but even with that GPU i wont be able to run games at 144hz with that resolution
I am actually running mine with an old 1080 gpu. It’s surprising just how well it’s running on that card. So well, that it took me right out of the market for a new gpu.

Also I highly recommend using a Vesa Arm with this monitor because of the ability to find that sweet spot for the most immersion!
HDR may be useless, but them Doom skills though.
