    I have no problem buying a good clone, as long as it's sold as a clone.

    Tip: Put a label on the real or fake knife. Its confusing AF to follow which knife is in your hand.

    I've been carrying the $12 version. It's handy because I'll use it where I won't use a good knife. I dug mushrooms out of rocky soil last week.
    The steel, whatever it is, is soft. But it sharpens up fast & easy in a Worksharp pull through.
    I calculated the cost, adjusted for inflation, and it compares to a $2.00 counter knife when I was a kid. Dead on. What the BugOut has over those old knives is the quality of the design. They were cheap steel slip joint knives (no brass) that rusted easily. They were perfect for a one use knife, a glove box, or a training knife for a kid that was going to lose it quickly. I received several myself.
    The clone plastic is better than the plastic back then. And it's stainless. So it's a bargain when it's on sale on Ali & other online Chinese stores. The box is useful for storing other miscellaneous stuff. But I gotta ask: Why is a storage bag included by Benchmade or counterfeiters for a plastic handled knife? (If you're storing yours in it, you got issues).
    It's too thick to use as a condom. Too long for a coin purse. Too small for eyeglasses. Useless. Or so.i thought. Then I realized it fits my extra .380 magazine. Bingo!

      Dollar for dollar you're right. If they can make a good knife...surely they could sell it either their own logo on it. That was the part that got to me. You right about the bag. 🤣🤣

    Bass pro sold me a bug out with terrible blade centering and no matter what I did it would not go straight they said they don’t take returns for Benchmade but they let me take the display one home and it was perfect

    I dont want a true counterfeit bugout, but I would gladly use a clone of the bugout. Sure I'd rather have an original, but they cost several time more than they are actually worth. Many of the clone/counterfeit bugouts available are very close to the original in build quality, lacking only in the blade steel. They are often sold as 154cm or some quality steel while actually being a lesser quality steel. Some are made with decent steel though, like 8cr13mov, or 440c and cost between $20 and $50. I'd gladly use a 440c bugout clone for $30. At that point, it doesn't seem worth an additional $270 just to have the 154cm blade with the butterfly logo on it. (Carbon fiber version $300).
    If benchmade would put a reasonable price tag on their knife, it wouldn't make so much sense to knowingly buy a fake or a clone. I have a 530 Pardue that was given to me and I love it, but I would *never* have paid $110 for it. It's a great knife, just not $110 great.

    The channel where the Axis lock slides is titanium. Just take off a scale and see if a magnet sticks to it. Had a guy a few years ago try to sell me a Benchmade ballisong. He stated the handles were titanium. Brought a kitchen magnet with me. Nope. Saved me over $200 at the time.

    The butterfly gives it away on this one, the patent mark is too big (lower right side of butterfly) compared to the real benchmade.

    I've done some comparisons to and then Ali Express cut me off and I'm pretty sure that's why but I don't care I don't like getting screwed over buying a clone playing the real I don't mind buying clones to use but I don't like when people sell them as the real thing that's just dirty business. But you're right I'll talk to a lot of people that have done it unknowingly so I've made some comparison videos to showing the boxes and the the knives The Real Thing versus the Clone so people can see what's out there be careful.

    • @apex_alchemy_knives
      @apex_alchemy_knives  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's not. I have friends who have taken the blades to a grinder. The steel is always soft...and barely passable as steel. What these things are, are nothing more than an object shaped like the real thing. Like a model car. You can look at it. You can roll it across a table, but you shouldn't depend on it for reliability.

      @apex_alchemy_knives nah, it is actually decent. I got a Blue Bugout. I have NEVER held a real Benchmade so I wouldn't know the feel and weight. It feels really light weight. The Axis Lock works fine, blade deploys quickly and using the Axis Lock, it closes up just as easy. I'd say it's well worth the $12. I wouldn't pay more though.

  • @Sometungsten
    @Sometungsten 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Calling it a clone exacerbates the problem. If the fake calls itself by the name or manufacturer of the real one, it is a counterfeit, NOT a clone.

    • @apex_alchemy_knives
      @apex_alchemy_knives  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You're not wrong but yeah a clone would be an exact copy bro. If you clone yourself , aesthetically you'll look the same. Moles, warts...gingivitis and all. I don't get hung up in terminology. Everyone has their opinions and that's cool. Yes it's a counterfeit. That's absolutely true. Yes it's also a crap knife....but yeah it's also plastic and metal with the same aesthetics...so yeah...it's a clone. Thanks for watching and commenting. 😎👊
