thanks for giving a chance to enjoy this masterpiece again with you. Hope you will watch the anime "Monster" someday. A detective story with a dark atmosphere and a lot of philosophical reflections, so I think you'll like it!
"The person who uses the death note does not go to heaven nor hell." And I love how that is beautifully portrayed by the animators, where Light dies on a staircase - neither at the top of the stairs (heaven) nor at the bottom (hell)
To say I wasn’t an anime fan when I was younger, I decided to give it a try again a year ago. Death Note was the first anime show I’ve watched that I immediately fell in love with. I’m up to 16 different animes now. Death Note will always hold a special place in my heart, and it made me appreciate how amazing anime can be.
@@リチャ-i3fexactly. This fact flies over a lot of people's heads. Mikami did the reasonable thing considering the circumstance. I place the blame on Light for not giving instructions on using the Death Note in emergency situations
All this time, the real evil was Ryuk, he brought the death note into the human world just to have fun. Light did terrible things, but for the sake of improving the world (at least at first). If he had never picked up the death note, he would probably become a good detective like his father...
Light is such an interesting character for not being interesting at all. He has no elaborate backstory to explain his very ridged sense of justice. He had a good home life, school life, and has likely not experienced too many hardship to have made anything a personal anecdote. That both makes it hard to relate and understand his perspective, but offers something else instead. His idea of justice is definitely very ridged, but using the death note over the years I definitely feel like it started to push him into an insane level of delusion (remember that moment where takada announced Kira, aka Mikami at the time, was going to start killing lazy people and Light’s response to that was that “it was too soon”). There is no denying he had an impact on the world but something he failed to understand was that peace and justice are complex and never fully attainable, there is nothing peaceful about ruling over people with fear. Light was arrogant, arrogant to the point of delusion. Some of these things I honestly suspect were always apart of him, this grandiose view of his self and once he obtained the power of the death note he kept repeatedly convincing himself that he was doing the right thing despite the fact it went against the very elevated view he had of himself that Light Yagami would never do such a thing. I believe the series proceeding episode one is essentially an audience witnessing a man who is never able to pull himself back from psychotic break. Instead he kept doubling down until he was lying there on the stairs dead. I also have to say, in reality I feel like L would have won very easily. Light is “perfect,” but has a MAJOR character flaw and that is his arrogance. Since yall also watch JCS and are interested also in the psychology of criminals, arrogant criminals, no matter how smart they are, tend to do something self incriminating in order to stroke their ego that easily gets them caught at the end of the day. I honestly feel like despite how much of an advantage Light had with his magic notebook, that whole bus jacking thing + the killing of the FBI agents would have gotten him caught. It’s almost unbelievable to think Raye Penber would have not been sending reports to his superior/L and would have mentioned he needed to show his ID to the person he was surveying. Upon Penber’s death, L would have quickly deduced Light was Kira and it would have been game over. There are many other instances like this in the series in my opinion where they continuous give Light so many advantages in order to combat his major flaw of being arrogant (He’s handsome, charming, smart, multiple death notes, Misa, Ryuk, Rem, etc). The fact he lasted I think 6 years being Kira seeing how arrogant he was is just crazy. Naomi’s death is a great example of the author seemingly purposefully dumbing down a character/ situation in order to keep the story going. It’s a bit frustrating and would have loved more instances like the potato chip scene where it’s just Light using more of his own mind in order to outsmart L because I think it highlighted more of his intelligence than constantly having something else available to save the day. I have a lot of qualms with death note, but it’s still such a fun series with a cool concept. There’s also a lot of questions that never get answered (L’s backstory for example or more information about the Wammy’s house). I had to do a lot of my own research to get those details, so hopefully someone on patreon gave a bit more of the available information that’s out there! Final thing I’ll say that it’s been fun watching you guys (I’m originally here from the BTS reactions + AOT, and it was you guys starting the series that encouraged me to finally watch death note). For a show somewhat similar, I’d recommend Monster next! Thank you guys 💜
THIS. I didn't cry or felt anything after this finale. It was just *emptiness* as if my heart got shattered into pieces but nothing was there.. just hollow..
And literaly a shinigami as a backup. The moment Rem showed up L's victory became impossible because she would kill anyone who is a danger to Misa and L's victory condition activaly involves bringing both Kiras to justice and probably death sentace.
Im just throwing my opinion out there but remember when L and light was saying justice in actuality we learn that Matsuda is justice , cuz understood Kira but still know he is wrong and justice is not right when the ideology justifies a little that’s why matsuda was about to become a killer and lose justice L said was justice but no he died light also said that and died so justice always prevail which matsuda did prevail
I wanted to remind u guys to not to forget uploading this vid on your death note playlist! Nice death note reaction overall I enjoyed it a lot. Such a crazy show.
You guys should totally watch the Film Theory video on Death Note,it's about how many people theoretically died to the hands,or pen,of each Kira. Also, just wanted to say that I love you dudes and your reactions,I remember when one of you thought that "L" was an anonymous type organization,I laughed at that idea at first, but thinking about it,"L" technically IS an organization because of Watari's Wammy's house, that's made specifically to find a replacement for L.
Thing to keep in mind. L only lost because of the task force. It was their fault that he died. They were like a giant weight pulling him down. L would have won and solved this if he was alone. Every test L wanted to do that would have solved the case was turned down by the task force. This is why Near won. Near wasn’t part of the task force, nor was he influenced by them. Near was even willing to risk the lives of his team to solve this case.
Nice, perfect entertainment for after work and after gym routine Imma hit my J and enjoy the show Looking forward to see your reaction to the final of this phenomenal series Supernatural next?
I didn’t cry, but I did feel bad for him. But I feel worse for all the people he killed, abused, manipulates, and tortured. Light was a monster that needed to be stopped.
Just leaving this here, but if you ever want to watch the best detective anime series ever made, check out Monster from Urasawa. Amazing manga, but also insanely good anime adaptation as well. Its underrated as hell after all those years, more people should watch it for sure.
There is a resolution in the manga. Near takes the position of L, and the police never makes kira's death public so as to try and keep his achievements alive for a while, and people end up assuming that he's just taking a break. Near somehow respects Light because, even though he was a murderer, he still did some good in the world by greatly reducing crime rates and end all wars, and because L thought of Light as an equal to risk his life to fight against. About Misa, -she becomes something like the leader of a new religion kira is the god of, people who pray for him to resume his normal activities purely with a sense of justice- nevermind, I've thought for years that the girl that appears at the end was her, but she's a different person, despite being too similar to her and being portrayed as somehow important.
41:46 There are clips with international voice acting for the scene of Light revealing he's Kira. You should watch them. They're all very good, but the Italian one... oh, the Italian one really hit differently. It surpass even the original one (who's also very good!).
When I finished Death Note, I left a comment on a video on youtube and someone recommended me to watch Code Geass after since it’s kind of similar to Death Note. I did it and it became one of my 2 favorite animes alongside AOT. You should watch Code Geass next
Guys, great final reaction! Hope you'll check out the two other Death Note stories--one a mini-novel, the other a limited manga. The first, "Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases," is a prequel that shows Naomi working with L. The other, "The a-Kira Story," takes place several years after the original Death Note, involving a new protagonist (and Ryuk comes back.) It's a short revisit to the world, but it's fun.

I mean let’s be honest light is the real victim bro was set up to be the best detective alongside L and from the fact that when he lost all memories of the death note note you could see what type of person he was but as the saying goes absolute power corrupts absolutely and it is ridiculous how near and Mello working to find Kira for years and even working toghter at the end wouldn’t be enough to even come close to light or L as light said L would have considered the possibility of a fake notebook from the very beginning and would have tested it and light would have adjusted his plan knowing that and come up with a countermeasure and yet with Near and Mello and it took Mikami slipping up to come up with something L would have known and light just put that plan together from his ass not even bothering coming up with a simple countermeasure was so close to winning even with that I mean L and Light are on another level compared to Near and Mello PS: if their is a new Kira I want it to be mellow saying that he faked his death somehow as he is on nears level and anyone else would be compere to Light and L in their feats and Near is like the unstable part of L in a way and Near is like the more order less emotional part of L that doesn’t take much innovative so I would love to see them especially Mello as the anime and even the manga didn’t do him justice and give both Mello and Near much needed character development
It gets convoluted, But yea you guys got it exactly, its quite a stretch but well done for getting the plot, i had to watch 3 times to get this episode, so confusing. Its not explained so well which is the major complaint with the second half, L's saga is complex but clear. It becomes less clear later, great writing regardless and yes i cried, for light and for the scars the world bares from lights hubris. All very symbolic, very meta lol. Great watch guys, good start for anime. One of many lessons that can be read out of this ending is there is no resolution. I shit myself for the society Light shaped and what it would evolve into without him. He broke society as left dark imprints for the future. I see that light was first afraid to kill but quickly got over that. His personality shifted when he accepted murder. After he tried to condemn his father to purgatory by having him write a name in the book and shortly after killing L he shifted further. Even his family were on the table. As he god complex grew he began to cast off even his allies and loved ones. He needed others but next to his complex he couldn't the see value in others around him as people. Only tools. Ill say it one more time but absolute power corrupts absolutely. Final note as you move forward, don't watch one piece. If you still doing this in a couple of years watch The One Piece. A remake coming out in few years, it would take that long to get through the original so not worth at this point. Many other great shows to watch, catch you soon.
Been here since ep.1. What a Journey! Congrats guys Deathnote vs Code Geass WAS a very hot topic back in the day. Even tho there are similarities in the main characters both anime are very different. Would recommend to give Code Geass a go!
I thought it was also sad how ryuk just wrote his name and left. I think it was tougher in the Manga but it seemed so cold. Although ryuk made it clear from the start that he would not help. I was wondering if he would of had a change of heart. 😅
Thank you both for sharing your reactions and sharing your thoughts. You should consider reacting to the video "Death Note - How Deadly Was It?" by The Film Theorists. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts to the information presented.
From what I have heard Ls death was sopost to be were the manga ended but fans wanted more and then added Near and Mello to start a new fresh beginning. L lost,Light wone Also the ending in the manga is a little bit different and has a glimpse at sosiaty at the end.
I’m not sure if you guys take youtube recommendations but if possible I would love for you to react to an anime called A Promised Neverland. It is so amazingly traumatizing I 100% recommend.
A lot of people still mentioning the way Light spoke his words about being a God and every time mentioning the WAY he sounds like, his tone and way of speaking his most popular quotes, BUT exact same people will never talk about the results, and will defend L or N or Melo or anyone from Wammy's House. Results is 70% reduction in the global crime rate (and the ending wars claim) is proof that Kira’s methods are an effective deterrent to crime and that he objectively made a change toward a better and safer world. After his death percentage jumped so high. For L it was ONLY a game of mind for N it was ONLY a puzzle, I think I don't have to talk about Melo. EXAMPLE: For an example, if you imagine that you had a small child, and when he/she was in kindergarten and one day a terrorist would enter this kindergarten threatening to destroy everything or/and kill everyone and at that moment he would die at the hands of Kira (like the first liquidation of the criminal by Light ) wouldn’t you be at least grateful to Kira for the fact that your child is actually ALIVE ?
so what was your favorite between AOT and Death note your 2 originals reactions? ;) it was funny to watch you going from never having watch an anime before to anime fan ! :P
Good show indeed but…buut if you think this one was top notch wait until you guys watch MONSTER. I know many will agree with me, especially the OG anime fans
Of course it's natural to think of all the notebook users throughout the series. Those who when they d*e.. go to nothingness, or the theory they become shinigami. It's easy to forget Raye Penber, who of course didn't know he used it. Would he then be subject to a cruel nothingness?.. deserving of the others who knew however
The final rule card in the last episode let's you know all humans go to nothingness. Heaven and hell doesn't exist in the death note universe what Ryuk says in the first episode is just him taunting Light with the fictious afterlife the humans invented. I think it's called Meju? But heaven and hell exists for nobody in DN universe. So yes Raye Penber would be subject to nothingness along with all non death note users.

Ngl, Light's death in the manga was WAY better...

Hey. Please give steins;gate a try. I know FOR SURE you guys will LOVE it.
Been here since ep.1. What a Journey! Congrats guys
Deathnote vs Code Geass WAS a very hot topic back in the day.
Keep in mind that Light was kind of rude to him at times too. Unlike Misa who had love for Rem.
More jjk pls
day i dont know anymore of please react to berserk
Thank you both for sharing your reactions and sharing your thoughts.
You should consider reacting to the video "Death Note - How Deadly Was It?" by The Film Theorists. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts to the information presented.
Next episode please check the 2 animated movies with new scenes and you will know what happened to Light after death.
From what I have heard Ls death was sopost to be were the manga ended but fans wanted more and then added Near and Mello to start a new fresh beginning.
L lost,Light wone
Also the ending in the manga is a little bit different and has a glimpse at sosiaty at the end.
I’m praying you don’t get a hold of a death note 😭🙏🏽🙏🏽
yeah lets forget for a moment, he killed a ton of innocent people, and pushed forward his own psychotic goals
@@lowserver2 which tonn of innocent people, name all of them.
@@samcore5820 did u watch the anime at all man?
@@lowserver2 yes so many times with 2 animated movies and read whole mangas, novel. Even played the videogames.
so what was your favorite between AOT and Death note your 2 originals reactions? ;) it was funny to watch you going from never having watch an anime before to anime fan ! :P
Good show indeed but…buut if you think this one was top notch wait until you guys watch MONSTER.
I know many will agree with me, especially the OG anime fans
🐐
Nah light should have won 😭
ضحكة لايت ماتنسمع الا بالياباني
am sad =(
"bakaaaaaaayarooo matsudaaaa"......pls react to the sub version ....😢
