      Gola245 I think Seth owns the characters, since he's the sole creator and technically didn't create them for CN, he made them for his own project, but it's also possible that CN got some exclusive rights on all the What A Cartoon creations by contract, regardless of whose creations they are... Either way they could easily include a cameo without any authorization, like they do for all the characters that are not theirs... Of course if you want to see a full crossover, then they would absolutely need that license.

      Dr hartman is Dr Elmer hartman. Elmer of course being Butches birth name. Also in the pre pilot episode Burch voiced Dr weed Peter's boss for the first 2 seasons of family guy. After family guy got picked up Seth got the voice actor Carlos Alazraqui
      To take over the role. When Burch found out he enjoyed the talent that Carlos had so he invited him to audition for a character he had in his own show Fairly Odd Parents and he got it. Carlos has been Mr Crocker ever since (except the live action versions) Butch also continued to do various background character voices for Family Guy until around season 4.

    I think the concept of "What A Cartoon!" Should come back, where a whole 30 minute segment is dedicated to two cartoon shorts being shown, n in the end viewers get to review the cartoon short to see if they liked, loved it, hated it or just meh... This would not only be cheaper for Nick and Cartoon Network as well as possible Adult Swim if they jump on the band wagon, but it would also take out part of the work for him. Because of "What A Cartoon" it was really competitive and some of the best shows came out of it.

Not tainted in the modern day cartoon filth.

    The Larry and Steve "What a Cartoon" short is actually quite witty, especially for Family Guy standards, and in an alternate universe, I would've loved to see how a more 'kid-friendly' version of the animated sitcom would've panned out.
    "I didn't spend 12 years in kindergarten because I'm stupid!"
    "Why then?"

      Willcraft You mean back when it was worse, as it is actually a show that gets better as it goes along, but yet it's a cool bandwagon for idiots to jump on to say that it used to be better, even though that makes no sense? Okay, whatever.

    • @WillcraftAnimations
      @WillcraftAnimations 7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      TheSefirosu200x I hear it's also a cool bandwagon to try to have the opposite opinion of most people even though that makes no sense.
      Listen kid, everyone have their own opinions. Mine is that the show's had some good episodes in the past but for the last few years have gotten more and more reliant on shock value just for the sake of shock value with no clever humour behind it, leading to nothing but a more mean-spirited experience with none of the laughs. Maybe they still have the occasional good episode, I wouldn't know because I don't actively watch the show, but every time I see anything from the new episodes it's dogshit. That isn't to say I praise the brilliance of older seasons. As a matter of fact, I'm not big on Family Guy whatsoever. As far as I'm concerned, it's a show that doesn't suit my tastes that still has some episodes I find enjoyable, and I have yet to see a single such episode in recent times.

      As maligned as the episode "Brian & Stewie" is, there are also moments that are genuinely poignant and heartwarming. Only problem? It's sandwiched in between gags involving Brian eating Stewie's shit.

    I have another bit to add to this. On the DVDs of The Weird Al Show, on the audio commentary for one of the episodes (I forget which one), Weird Al says that when they were planning out the show, they were approached by Seth McFarland with his early cartoon sketches. He says they couldn’t use it cuz it was too adult for their kids show, but they wished him luck. He then goes on to speculate that their show could’ve almost been for Family Guy what The Tracey Ulman Show was for The Simpsons.

    I'm surprised how much I recognized Larry and Steve from watching it as a kid. Steve talking to the camera, being picked up from the pound, their car getting split and that green laser lamp. I barely even got to watch cartoon network either since only my dad had the channel and I only stayed there every other weekend.

    In an alternate universe, Larry and Steve was a Saturday morning cartoon that ran from 1998 to 2003, and The Intertidal Zone became a comic book series lasting from 1984 to 2016, Adventure Time was on Nicktoons from 2007 to 2009, and Pixar was still part of Lucasfilm.

    I thought Seasons 1 through 9 were all good. Season 10 had a lot of controversial episodes that didn't really click with me. Now the humor is lazy and uninspired. The only things I can remember now are the random one liners from Stewie and sometimes they may be funny but it's overused making it clear to everyone that this show is needs to be put to rest.
    Nah, I still watch it regardless. I fell in love with these characters and I still love them today. So I don't care if it's not as funny as it used to be, It just warms my heart to see these characters at all. I don't know why, there's that weird charm it has for me.

    Y'know, I haven't watched the show for going on six years, but my favorite episodes from Family Guy were always the Brian and Stewie episodes wherein they would travel through time/ dimensions/ get into hi-jinks of some variety. I like to think of it as if Mr Peabody and Sherman was a black comedy. Honestly, if MacFarlene just made a spin-off of just Brian and Stewie, I'd watch it. Probably alone on this idea, but just figured I'd share in case someone felt the same.

      To be fair Fox has been really copyright claim happy when it comes to negative claims to Family Guy. Hell a guy I watched named TheMysteriousMrEnter gets his Family Guy reviews claimed constantly by Fox and he tackles the worst episodes the show has to offer (Seahorse Seashell Party, Brian is a Bad Father, Screams of Silence). So Doug picking on the least offensive joke in the series run is pretty excusable.

    Seasons 1-3 are definitely better than Family Guy after the show was revived in 2005. I haven't watched the show in a long time, but the show definitely became more focused on offending people instead of being funny. You can be offensive and funny, but the show just went out of its way to shock people and that becomes tiresome after a few seasons.

      The passion in people who hate the show is much too strong for it to be a "it's a good show that's been on for too long" kinda show. It's just a shitty show now.

    • @jessebrown1996
      @jessebrown1996 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So as long as tons of people have passion they can't be wrong? Shitty logic, to quote a line from Men In Black
      "A person is smart, people are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat"
      Basically the whole "lots of people think it so it must be true" argument is horse shit.

    • @jessebrown1996
      @jessebrown1996 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kyle, dip is too strong of a words, the shows just changed, and people hate change, they fear change, when something changes we equate it to getting worse, in reality most people are just dumb and can't handle any sort of change.
      As someone who has never really been a massive fan of family guy, but had to watch every season due to my gf love for it, it hasn't gotten worse, it's just it lacks nostalgia.

    • @TheGoldenDunsparce
      @TheGoldenDunsparce 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm saying that the intensity of the people who used to like the show now hating the show isn't coincidence. They were and still are the show's demographic, so they didn't "grow out of it" like one could argue. More than half the comments section is saying the same thing: It used to be good until season 5-6, and then it went to shit. These are people who used to be fans of the show, all saying the same thing. It's not nostalgia making the old episodes look good, but the new episodes actually being really bad.

    The only reason why the Larry and Steve short was so kid-friendly was because Seth was working for Cartoon Network at the time and wanted to make a short that he could put on TV on, and everything on Cartoon Network had to be Y or Y7 back in those days. There was an earlier Larry and Steve short that was much more adult than this one, and that earlier short was the one that he originally tried to pitch
