Have you ever tried giving them up for a few weeks or months and watch what happens? If you are under 30 / 35, you may not feel many problems. But over 35 could feel strong withdrawal symptoms like extreme hair greying, extreme pulsations, etc. Basically, we become dependents on what we take.

Back when I was 'toking' I came across the research on Omega-3s. Cannabis produces a large fraction ( I was gonna write 'high' but thought better of it...) of O-3s in the seeds. So I ate them, of course.
However, I also took fish oil caps.
Today, I am smarter, younger-looking, than all my same-age peers.
      Coincidence? Correlation?
No. I was just smart enough, as a 20-something, to get inspired by the research, step up with my ca$h, and now I'm reaping the bennies.

@@ericcopenhaverI think you mean well, but dial it back brotha. You sound silly touting a personal, anecdotal experience as gospel. In fact, we could all be better being less like you - meaning, more humble. RE: O-3 supplementation.. do more research. It can carry negative side effects as well, and supplements are often rancid, resulting in harmful and oxidative results. People are better off reducing their O-6 intake and prioritizing fresh, heart-healthy, whole food consumption.

I sometimes feel we are chasing empty goals, taking 100s or 1000s of supplements. We am unable to define a "good health" or a "good life". At the end, everyone we love, our friends, family and even our children have to die as we are not immortals. Even if we find the fountain of youth that makes us immortals and keeps us young, it will shoot our anxiety level through the roof as we just don't know what non-existence looks like. How long can we be immortal? 1 Billion years? 1 Trillion years? Until the end of the universe? We still will die when the plug running this simulation is pulled off. Humans find it difficult to accept that we are nobody and nothing in this universe and their Ego is directly the cause of all pain and suffering. Ego makes us do the wrong things, chase pleasures that will be the cause of all our pain and suffering eventually. So, what's the solution? - Learning to let go. Live simple and minimalist life. Become a spiritual seeker.

The top 3 should be: Whey Protein, Creatine, Omega-3.
All other supplements got minimal impact. Multivitamine or specific vitamines (or minerals) can be also good in cases where someone has insufficient intake of them, due to either not well rounded diet or some illness.
Other are just a waste of money because they have no or minimal impact on body.

    • @TheElpapanator

Not everyone needs those. Those are more dependent on deficiencies if present. There are cases of people who had normal magnesium levels and upon taking it in a supplement form experience symptoms like depression, fatigue, and digestive issues. Also people who get plenty of sunlight can have normal vitamin D levels. Layne’s list was to address supplements everyone can take, not to address deficiencies present in only specific populations.
