    At 12:08, curious about that chair setup where a person would be dangling their legs over the kitchen counters and not have anything to prevent them from completely falling forward down after hitting some good waves.

      Ditto, I was looking for some kind of leg support that would flip down. It would be like riding a ski chair lift.

    I'm curios as to what's under the back half of the boat, I assume its just the engine and some storage, but it would have been nice to see, especially when other 40ft pilot house boats have a full size aft cabin and engine room.

    I have fallen in love with the pilot house/deck salon motor sailors like this, the Sirius, Nauticats, CR's and such. My dream is to have a powerball choice of a Sirius 35ds loaded with the bilge keel, cutter rig.

    • @Mekkaman
      @Mekkaman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I wholeheartedly agree with you. The Sirius 35ds is an incredible design and is only beaten by the 40ds. I wonder why more manufacturers don't do similar designs? Their "basement" workshop space is a jewel of a feature! General visibility from inside and comfort in foul weather seems like a no-brainer.

    I watch many of your boat walkthrough and commentaries, what would help many of us out here viewing would be to bring up the builders plans showing what the keel configuration and hull below the waterline looks like,which is beneficial in deciding as to its capabilities as a true Blue water World Cruiser. Perhaps you would ad this to your likes for those of us would be better informed. Thank you for your Efforts.

    • @travellingtascha
      @travellingtascha 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why not suitable for world travel?

    • @NotOnYourLife
      @NotOnYourLife 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@travellingtascha Pay attention to her specs on sailboatdata, particularly the sailboat calculations. She is topheavy with a capsize screening of close to 2, meaning she is not really suited for heavy seas. A wide and light boat is better for coastal cruising, the width, weight, draft, freeboard and ballast matter. Keep in mind there is a difference in crossing an ocean and long term open ocean sailing, such as traveling the world. Most boats can cross an ocean (albeit painfully) but to be a world traveler the boat must be designed to withstand weather and keep you safe and relatively comfortable in whatever conditions you find yourself in. The build quality on the NE400 (Cabo Rico built) is top notch but she wasn't designed with world travel in mind. The design is key here and the name pretty much says it. If you want a Cabo Rico for world travel, stay with Cabo designed boats (Crealock, Paine) as these are designed more for blue water. Compare the NE400 to a Cabo Rico 42 Pilot they look alike but the specs on the Cabo 42 give an indication that her design is meant to handle blue water more than coastal cruising.

    • @travellingtascha
      @travellingtascha 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Never understood why boat architects place shrouds, blocks, and tracks in the middle of the side decks
    laziness?

    • @Cheers_Warren
      @Cheers_Warren 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because there is an ideal sheeting angle for the foresails to go up wind efficiently and then the sheets have to be lead from the sails to the track .
      If the shrouds are too wide the sails will not set right.
      So yes it's a compromise .
      On new boats they are reverting to large mainsails and smalller forsails which allow for different sheeting and rigging designs. But 30 years ago large headsails was the design style for many reasons.
      Cheers Warren
      I realize you question was probably rhetorical!

    Must admit nice boat other than being a Pilot House, same problem as Deck Saloon in hot places with all that glass. Too much like a Sauna when you don’t want to be in one. For me, Aft Cockpit is too small , single central Helm Wheel sucks, and I’d never have another tbh, plus Pilot House Roof really sucks for Solar Panel mounting due to shading effects. Galley is perfect though for use underway, Linear Galleys that don’t have good back bracing support, are dreadful even with a security strap when under way in choppy conditions. A pretty decent boat for someone sticking with Cooler latitudes though, just not my cup of tea for the Tropics, , Caribbean, or the Mediterranean. Same downsides as Centre Cockpit and Ketch rigged Boats generally. I wouldn’t want to do a Circumnavigation in any of those, but plenty of others, it’s right up their street, for at least a while. Thanks for the boat tour. Best Wishes and Fair Winds. Bob. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⛵️ 🌟 🌟 🌟

    Just a personal opinion. Pilot house sailboats are great for life on the hook and motoring. However sailing the boat from the cockpit or pilot house would totally stink. Aft helm you have poor visibility because you have the pilot house in the way. Sailing from the pilot house helm you are way too far from the sheets especially if you're beating upwind. Of course gentlemen never sail up wind.

      It would be tough to weigh the pros and cons without having many hours of sailing.

      I believe a pilot house is more suitable for Scandinavian countries and the like.

    Not a world cruiser. Profile too high. Suicide windows in pilot house. Fine for cocktails in the Abacos

    The helm is a location. You cannot "helm" a boat.
