    My tip: don’t measure your success by factors you cannot control.
    Of course follower & sub goals can be something you strive for, but my tip is to focus on what you can control and to take pride in your improvement as a streamer instead of focusing too heavily on the numbers.

      Depending on what streaming Software you are using you should be able to toggle it off. On OBS on the twitch stats you can click the viewerr number and it'll hide it. On the Twitch streaming manager you can hide it as well, or remove it from the dashboard. I don't know about streamlabs, but it should be similar.

    The "create a narrative" tip has really helped me recently! One tip I can offer: If there's some dead air, hum a tune or make silly sound effects to go with what you're doing in the game. Whatever you do, don't stop talking. Sometimes it becomes a fun inside joke, like in Subnautica whenever I use my grappling hook I sing the old Spiderman theme song and my chat turned it into a drinking game 😅

    My advice: find a small thing that makes you a streamer, and not just a guy playing games.
    Have that talk with a few of the kids I teach. They have hard time figuring out why they cant get viewer. Then I ask what they do, their respons is: "I play minecraft with friends" I ask them if they entertain the chat or have anything to offer them? They goes blank.

    Laughter is both contagious and good medicine, I will stick around longer in a stream where they are smiling and laughing as opposed to blank or rbf. Also, us neurodivergent types have the bonus of being used to talking to ourselves, explaining why we are doing what we are doing, cracking jokes into thin air, and just carrying a completely one sided convo when there's no one to chat with lol

    My tip would be to keep a physical bullet journal or notebook where to write what you're gonna stream in the next days, to have some general input of what you're trying to achieve and talk about that day :>
    Of this video the most useful tips for me were the ones on the community building part, I don't think I'll have trouble coming up with goals and how to get them, but I still find a bit hard to believe the idea that someone would actually watch me and talk with me xD as you said numbers are people, and thinking of someone actually sitting in front of their pc/phone and choosing to spend their time with me makes me a bit nervous haha

    My main tip is that gear doesn't really matter when you start out. I started streaming on a gaming laptop and with my headset mic, I still use them both today but will be upgrading to a pc this summer. I got affiliate in 3 months of streaming a couple days a week. That, and consistency really is key. I hit my 50 followers and got affiliate in March 2018, life got busy and I made excuses to stop streaming (though at one point I wasn't able to stream at all due to poor internet) its only the past few months I've gotten consistent again and started gaining 1 to 3 new followers every stream. Though again iys just my luck that once I'm finally consistent that my laptop fans give out on me and im stuck unable to use my laptop at all for 2 to 3 weeks while I wait for replacement parts.
    In the meantime I found your videos and im just itching even more to get back to streaming and to implement these tips! I love how you dont just use the same old tips everyone hears all the time, you have examples and you can tell that you genuinely care about this topic. Keep it up! My best tip for people that wanna do Twitch and wanna take the build off the platform method is to plan ahead. In approxamitly half a year or so im planning on starting to stream but I've started planning out since the beginning of 2020. I've made a dedicated instagram, a dedicated youtube channel (not this one), and planned out weeks worth of content.
    I've done this to ease the future pressure I will have from school and work. I know a lot of us are trying to balance streaming and school and I would say the best way to start is by getting the professional look right from the start even if you have a low viewer count. Because honestly I would rather watch a professional looking stream with links to all socials, overlays, alerts etc. Then watch someone without overlays but that's just me.
    In summary:
    1. Plan ahead
    2. Get those overlays

    How can I improve talking to an empty stream? A lot of the time no one is in my stream but ik I get a lot of views after my stream is done and in my library so any tips on talking to an empty stream would help!

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You most likely aren't getting views on your VoDs on your stream, the views on the vods are calculated by how many individual accounts went through your stream in 10 minute intervals, so if a bot checks the stream, or even if you are logged in yourself it counts the view and adds it to the streams recording on your channel after the fact.
      I'd say if you want to improve while talking to an empty stream, check out my streaming to 0 viewers video as well as planning out content, plan out stories, jokes, talking points, etc!

    I started streaming and creating recently. I definitely saved money by utilizing my Rockband USB microphone, and used my old ps4 cam holder to hold my mic. Definitely a difference in audio quality. My tip is to fine tune and check and recheck your own footage, and research keywords before you publish a video to see where your video appears compared to others in the same topic.

    Be live when your be live notification hits. I hate nothing more than getting a notification that you’re live, and I click the alert and see a 10 minute countdown video. I only have like 3 people I get notifications on, and that’s because they’re live when I get it.
    I start every stream with a 5-7 minute speech where I talk about what game I am playing. What have we done so far, what do we hope to accomplish today, and general overall thoughts on the game are. I also welcome in people, etc. not saying it helps my TH-cam VODS, but it helps me at least put together my talking points for the stream.

    Tips: Save giveaways for when your affiliate and only do them at certain milestones, if you can make them followers and/or subscribers only do that, my first giveaway ended with several people unfollowing me cuz they lost, but the winner and some of the others who entered stayed. Also adjust your audio on your mic and ask the viewers if you sound good they have to listen to you so they are the best feedback. And if you can adjust your alerts and overlays on the game your streaming have them match if you can, I do this so things match up well though I think its my OCD. However I'm still trying to figure out what to do for TH-cam

    Straight up, use a ducker on any audio that isn’t your voice. To set up a ducker, add a compressor to a source as a filter then side chain it to your mic. With proper settings, it will “duck” the audio down by a couple db anytime your voice is coming over the mic. That way, your voice is always forefront in your audience’s ear.

    My tip for the creation that I've done so far is to keep a very well organized creation folder, so that it's easy to find and sort things out when you need them.
    With my current creation folder, at the root I have my _core folder, filled with files that I might need to use in any project. Then I have my projects sorted by whether the go to Brand (YT, Twitch, etc), Personal, or School. Then I sort by category, such as Graphics, Videos, Audio, Games, etc. Then I have the folders that contain individual projects.
    I've had a very similar format for organizing my stuff for the past four years or so, and with the exception of my brand graphics folder (I still need to fully organize it) I can go in and find all of the projects I've done in the past four years, along with most of the files that I would need to modify or recreate them. The only issue is that the folder tends to get a bit big. Mine is around 800GB at the moment, and that's after deleting a bunch of the raw video footage I've gathered, but I've also been making a lot.

    A tip I've found to be very useful is raiding on twitch. I'm not sure if it works in the same way on youtube, but raiding is a pretty nice way of putting yourself out there. It's mutually beneficial as the streamer you raid gets exposure to your community, and you are exposed to their community. Sometimes people follow you from raids and end up coming to your stream too. I feel as though it's definitely a way to network, promote yourself and others, without having that 'hey check me out' annoying tone, which (rightfully so) a lot of people do not appreciate. Take some time to find a nice community to raid and overtime, it'll show results :D. Good luck!

    With so many people watching on phones, it's not always a good idea to stream at 1080p60 (or 4k), even if your computer has plenty of headroom, thanks to WiFi and Cell tech. Unless you're big enough to have adjustable quality, staying at 720p30 or 720p60 is USUALLY good enough, and allows for the widest audience. Of course, there are exceptions based on the games you play, but most of the time, people don't notice the difference thanks to Twitch's encoding. This also applies to your cam, too. You don't need to be capturing at 4k if you're going to be 300 px tall.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very good point! Sadly a lot of people can't run tech that fast still in this day and age, and 4k is reserved for the top streamers!

    15:37 so for tip #54, I have a question:
    Should I make content that is searchable and discoverable or should I make content that I'm passionate about? I don't want to do how-to's or educational stuff. But I know I would enjoy making videos of my favourite moments from my favourite games.
    How do I approach this dilemma?
    EDIT: PS - thanks for the content. I really like what you do. Big ups to you mate!

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No matter what you need to get eyes on your videos to start with.
      The algo has no love or weight behind your content when you start out.
      Imagine you start a channel and every person who sees a video gets marked as 3 different categories after seeing it: People who Subbed, People Who Watched more than 50% but didn't sub, and people who left early.
      The algorithm works by suggesting your content to the first two of these 3 categories ( and also sometimes to others who might be interested in the topic if you build enough relevancy in a topic, say Minecraft for example)
      When you start out I always recommend targeting search content because if you can get ranking for a search topic that has no contest and low search, say 100 searches a day, it starts building up your audience base and relevancy automatically even while you sleep.
      Another way is to make content around topics and share them into communities across social media, this is much harder to do because it is a manual process and often people ban you for self-promotion.
      For example, Dream made videos all about Pewdiepie and Cringe Minecraft then shared those HARD into their communities on reddit building his first base of viewers and relevance, then he dropped big videos such as the manhunt series which are 30 minute or more videos with really solid retention rate because people want to see how it ends, now when you load 30 minutes of video up with an ad every 3 minutes as well like he does. The retention rate and advertising is a pretty good signal for TH-cam to boost that video.
      So he gets his first core viewers, gets his relevancy, then drops videos that the algorythm loves.
      The other way is to do education, again which I recommend.
      Go look at SmallAnt and sort by oldest videos. It is the exact same process but instead of the pewdiepie/minecraft social push he used education and search then dropped huge retention clickable challenges.
      Hope this explains a bit and helps!

    On a different note, how do you combat pre-roll ads? Do you run a 90s ad every 30min to ensure no pre-roll ads are shown for newcomers? (finally managed to catch your stream today for the first time for a little bit so I don't really know how you do)
    Thank you

      Love the advice and the balance of growth/enjoyment!
      To beat prerolls, yeah I just run ads when I can. Mostly when I do bathroom breaks :)

    This is more for the art streaming community but one of my tips is don’t be afraid to showcase other artists. Like if you’re asking “what are you working on” and someone says they’re doing a drawing, invite them to send a link in DMs or in chat (if you allow links) and show it off. It can get a little harder to do when you’ve grown so maybe save it for raids or maybe a channel point redeem. For me, it helps build the community and make new friends!
