Last Story: How the heck do you call it "your" language when you don't even speak it and refuse to learn how to speak it? And then get mad at your awesome gf, who not only speaks the same language as the rest of your family, but was able to gain their respect and affection so quick! OP had a lady who was a keeper and he fumbled it *hard* and I'm still not exactly sure why. Maybe some kind of jealousy?

this is especially true with a Mexican family. I would say Latino, but I don't wanna speak for others. But regardless, yes! Mexicans are incredibly welcoming and hospitable but there is wariness at times with new S/Os. This Katya sounds like such a catch and this guy just fumbled the bag down the stairs.

OP was so entitled it was almost rage inducing. Also I have a feeling whatever reason for the breakup that got him going "don't bother begging we're not getting back together" would paint him in an even worse light, and the family was aware of it. Like, he made it sound like the breakup was his idea, and if she'd cheated on him or something, he would've put it in the post for sympathy points.

This this is in response specifically to the second story: doctor coming on to as well as SAing patient.
I feel this is an incredibly important to write for those who have had this happen to them and for those who silently think they did want it because they didn't run away. Or a partner doesn't understand why you didn't run away, why you didn't say no, why didn't you demand a second party in the room?
I am in the US I've survived three unsurvivable comas every single time had a near-death experiences and waking up in a childlike state. Thankfully I had a brother who got me out of an abusive situation and saved my life more times than I can count. I am currently on the edge of having to go into the hospital again right now if I cannot get my fever down using Tylenol. I only share this very basic detail so that people can understand the terror that a patient goes through. Especially if you suffer from any kind of hormonal or pain oriented problems. What does doctor did to her was SA.
In many first and second world Nations we are taught that the only people we listen to 100% of the time are cops doctors and teachers. Teachers rank bottom because they're dealing with young people. We are so ingrained with this as a reality that we hesitate to question anything that they do. That is why if you are in a state where you only need one party consent then you should be audio recording every single appointment you have. One-party consent means as long as one of the people being recorded knows IE you, then it's legal regardless. If you are in a two-party consent state the do to your own anxiety you want to make sure you capture everything he asks to do or try already recording you catch any type of ascent. If he does not agree to this very reasonable and commonplace request now for the past 10 plus years then this is very fishy.
When you have spent so much time trying to get the care that you need when nobody knows what's wrong with you when nobody really gets why you're hurting so much when nobody really understands why you're getting infections falling into comas or dying repeatedly or whatever the problem happens to be it is absolutely terrifying to go from thinking that you have somebody who's really working for you to realizing that this person is not working for you he is using you because he knows you need him.
    This is assault.
Do not go back to any appointment with this doctor in person but if he demands it then make sure you bring somebody to the appointment with you to get your meds while you search for another doctor. Even if you don't have a partner bring the biggest badass male or female that you have in your life. Have them stare at him overtly friendly but clear that they know.
You did the best possible thing you could have done in that circumstance. You got through it and you got out and I'm so brutally sorry that a medical doctor utilized his power to harm you in this way. Look up in your state what is required to put in a complaint on the State board as well as the board of the clinic you went to which in most cases will be two separate places.
And for anybody who judged this poor woman.... For shame on your soul

I think the last story came down to the dude not liking the fact that his family could talk to her without him understanding and having a fallout with your family because of that is really stupid both ways. Also seems odd for her not to mention she knew Spanish after she asked, why do that I’m genuinely curious, like she didn’t have to tell him but usually (in my experience) people you are close to tell you if they can speak other languages especially if the other person asks about you speaking a language they can speak.

    Story 4
This entire story reminds me of when I showed my friend the same movie, it had her on the edge of her seat and asked me multiple times if the movie was real or not. For someone like me who has The Blair Witch Project as my favorite horror movie (I've literally seen it so many times that I pretty much have the movie memorized) it was priceless seeing my friends reaction to the movie

  • @EvonneSol
    @EvonneSol 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

As a recovering alcoholic, if someone spiked my drink I would immediately cut them off, family or not. Most of my family are functional alcoholics and every family gathering and vacation includes drinking. It makes me very uncomfortable because the smell of some kinds of alcohol can set me off, but I love them enough to endure it. I hate it when they ask me if I want to have a drink and I have to remind them for the hundredth time that I've been sober for over five years, people are so unrepentantly pushy about that kind of thing.
Drinking nearly killed me. I got so blackout drunk once that I completely forgot what happened over an eight hour shift and had to go back over my work to make sure it was done properly. This was while I was working with chemicals on a custodial job, and anything could have happened to me during that time. I also ruined my favorite laptop during one of those drunken episodes, and that's stuck with me because I was barely scraping by at the time. I got my act together, got sober, and got into a good career that saved me from myself. There's been some close calls since then but I've managed to keep it together for my own sake.
No means no, and that includes alcohol. If someone's uncomfortable with drinking, please leave them alone. We have our reasons and we're not going to miraculously change our minds because people decide to harass us over it. We're just going to cut them off and continue living our booze-free lives in peace.

I don't know if people learning to tell better stories will fix the "oops, I left out the key ingredient to the crux of this thing I'm in the middle of" problem. First off, a lot of people who live with any chronic concern sort of just... Tune it out as a thing eventually, so they'd have to be reminded to bring it up at all via probing anyway, and there's also a not-insignificant amount of people who look at a loved one who is struggling and don't want to get into all that with strangers even if they _know_ it's at the heart of the issue. They love that person, and the problem is bad, and don't want to make others think they're a bad person for it kind of thing. And the last factor, there's another group of people who simply try to minimize the issue because they are being actively traumatized by said crux (or at least are wildly off-put by it) and it's easier to look at small conflicts that have arisen from this long-standing problem like an island to conquer instead of looking out upon the vast plains of past and future struggle.
