    That last story was heartbreaking to hear. The way she used his trauma against him and manipulated him to stay. Props to the father and uncle that recognised that something was wrong and saved him from her. This is very similar to he story of Alex Skeel but his abuse was a lot more physical to the point of boiling water being thrown at him and being actually stabbed. Doctors said he was 10 days away from death. The police man like OPs uncle and dad sensed something was off and brought him to the car turned the camera off and got him to confess, he got much needed help.

    First story..good grief. So let me see if I got this right: OP's girlfriend not only tickles him while he is DRIVING, causing them both to crash (which could've killed them both), but she told the friend and family a severely downplayed version of what happened, and had the gall to claim that OP was exaggerating the events, all without even being remotely aware of the fact that it was HER disrespecting his boundaries that caused them to crash. Sweet baby JESUS.
    OP is obviously NTA, but the girlfriend totally is, imo. Messing with someone is one thing, but messing with someone while they are in the middle of something you most definitely should not choose as the right time to mess with them is another thing.

    I want so badly to reach out to the guy in the last story. I'd be his friend, he deserves people that don't shame him for what?? Crying at a show? Being triggered because of PTSD!?? FFS. He's been through so much and more, he's every bit a man who deserves respect and IS a man, regardless of trauma and the abuse he went through.
    I hope he's doing better still. I hope he knows he's not a burden. He deserves love and respect and being treated like a person. He deserves to be taken seriously when he confides in people. She is a horrible HORRIBLE person. His message is important though. Don't force yourself to stay, it is so easy to get into that trap. Even when you think it could never be you. Man, woman, anyone else - know the signs of abuse and be careful of the cycle. It is not your job to fix someone in the hopes that they will stop being terrible to you. Even if they used to be good to you, even if they sometimes still are.

    Last story - people need to be more supportive of men going through these situations. Imagine being an abuse victim and then going and reading the judgement that the OP did in the comments. Basically victim blaming him. It's a wonder he is still with us let alone that he found the strentgh to leave at all. Thank god his dad had the foresight to get him out of there. But not everyone is lucky enough to have that kind of support.

    It's really important that people take to heart this last story. The bottom line is men do without question suffer DV what are rarely believed and often stay because of horrible thoughts like the ones he described and because people make fun of them like they're not strong enough smart enough they're weak they have no balls etcetera. On top of the abuse they have to put up with the abuse of a friend group that doesn't really get how severe something might be.
    If you have a male friend in your life who maybe in a domestic violence situation please support them get them any help that you can be their shoulder record things that you see or remember do whatever you can to let them know that you are there and you will help.

    The last one is heart breaking. I was in one of those kind of situation (it was only a friend even if i think they wanted to be closer) let's just say my childhood was very messed up and sometimes my parents didn't know or are a part of it. This friend was overly touching me, rubbing my upper legs, arms etc. Wich is something i really don't like. I also don't like seeing peoples getting hurt, so they tried to hurt themselves in front of me when we were alone together (with of course the eye contact to see if i saw it), the lying to get attention. Today i'm still scared of seeing them somewhere even though my friends helped me get out of this friendship. This is abuse, if she called 911 even if it's about your trauma just telling the cops that she is threatening you with knives is a reason for her to have problems. Just because you are a men doesn't mean that being threatened, hurt is ok. Big hug for the father and oncle for helping OP if not she would have messed up with him far more.

  • @sachiaiko
    @sachiaiko 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Don't misunderstand me up there, men often refrain from harming physically aggressive women and it has zero to do with how strong they are how much bigger they are how much muscles they have.
    And while coercion manipulation and control are very large aspects of domestic violence the actual violence part, that is where people lose their lives and what makes this so difficult is that sometimes these explosions where you really feel like your life is in danger happens once a year or once every few years but it's happening and the rest of the time you're being manipulated and your money is being micromanaged and your friends are being pushed away and all these things are happening is still domestic violence even during the times they're not physically attacking. Would you also make extremely difficult to get a restraining order especially because police officers don't have accurate numbers in relating to how often men are the victims of domestic violence. That's what I meant just to clarify.
    If you are a man who has suffered from domestic violence there is nothing wrong with you. You are not weak. You can get out if you are still in. And reach out to the people that you think are not in your lives anymore. I am so glad this guy came back and updated because getting a burner phone was a brilliant idea and at least at work he was able to get in touch with his family. You do have some options. And if you are out you are incredibly strong you did not cause that to happen to you. You deserve to be loved.
    I genuinely wish I knew who this guy was because it was so insanely brave of him to tell his story on Reddit it was so insanely brave for him to be willing to share what he went through as well as his emotions and thoughts and how he thought out of the box to get out. Because so many men feel ashamed of it. He is not at fault for what happened to him and neither is anyone else who is going through this no matter what your partner or their friends or those nagging thoughts in your head tell you.

It's textbook, all of it. They way she used other people to manipulate him, the gaslighting, the guilt trips, threaths, love bombing. And it's really common for people with a trauma history to end up with people like her, too. Nice people who are empathetic and easily affected.
