After all, to sequester enough CO2 to replace the carbon in a destroyed forest will only take aboiut 300 years and will not be 100% efficient until the forest has finished the replacement of the original trees. Depending on the tree species, very little CO2 is absorbed until the tree reaches its maximum girth so very little is added to the carbon sink in the new forested area!

Bicycles don't produce emissions so it's impossible for cyclists to pay VED. Another point is that motorists get the privilege to drive after they pass a test. This privilege is taken away if they break the law enough. Pedestrians, bicycles and horses/ carriages have been using the roads long before cars so they do get the right to use roads! Motorists are freeloaders in that non motorists who pay income tax pay for the upkeep of our roads, i could go on......!!!

Also, unless you live in said cities, cyclists by and large happen to be car owners too so already contribute to the upkeep of the road network via RFL and diesel and petrol duties.
