Peter Hitchens' Half Hour: “There Is No Obligation For A Nation To Take In 7 Million People”

  • Last week the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby branded the Government’s Migration Bill as ‘morally unacceptable' in the House of Lords.
Following the Archbishop's comment, columnist Peter Hitchens released an article saying “we can't impoverish our own nation to help the poor of this world”.
He joins Mike Graham to discuss the matter.
Peter says: "There is no obligation for a nation to take in seven million people from other countries. That is absolutely colossal".

I'll never understand why the UK and Europe wanted so badly to destroy their own countries with diversity. It fails wherever it is imported to because each group of people want to be the king and queen of the land protect their own kind , their own culture , traditions and religious beliefs and they to want political power to push their own ideas . It just so happens in the west the trees are ripe for the pickings and they know exactly what words to use to manipulate the government, the so called Christian leadership and the media to gain power and to empower their own into getting everything they want .. it will all end in tears for the west one day ..

As most of us experience on a daily basis, the roads are full, the NHS cannot cope, most jobs are at or just above the minimum wage, affordable housing and rents are non existent for millions, school classes are full etc… etc..

I emigrated to Canada in 1993 and the whole process was expensive and detailed. I had to prove that my trade was required, that I had never committed a crime, that I had enough money to support myself, that I was in good health, and, that I would not in any way pose a burden to Canada. I spent thousands on my application process, I was interviewed twice and I had to take a full medical, including an HIV test. I passed all of Canada's requirements and then I emigrated. The very last thing I would have done is to just rock up to an airport in Canada, minus my identity documents. The UK needs to freeze ALL IMMIGRATION FOR AT LEAST, 10 YEARS! Every criminal and drug dealer etc who comes in illegally on a boat, telling lies about their situation gets priority over our own people. Their sometimes unacceptable cultures and customs take priority over ours and if we say anything we are accused of racism etc. People should only be allowed to live here if they speak, read and write good English and accept our customs and values even if it means they cannot follow all of their own religious or cultural customs. Each and every politician/ party are shaping this country to suit their own personal political beliefs without even considering the will of the people who have put them there. Blair started this mess and like sheep every government since has followed blindly. There is no repercussions for those who implement these policies as is abundantly clear as they all move on to either get knighted or promoted to the Lord's. It's the hard working public who constantly have to make this work and if they dare complain are marked as right wing racists or even disgustingly called Nazi's. Totally unbelievable and the ruin of the country is being written into the history books .

I went to a Wetherspoons in Wrexham the other day, and EVERY single member of staff had come off a small boat. I stormed out in disgust.

I was in Wrexham last year to visit cousins . My god the place is overrun with heavily pregnant Roma, people from all over the world. Drug dealing by foreigners was open on the steps going down the Cathedral car park 🤦🏻‍♂️

How about this, if the Archbishop believes what he says then he should specify that If you are a Christian, a true believer then it's YOUR duty and Yours alone to house, feed and educate and care for, including dentist and hospital fees, these "poor, starving, homeless immigrants, let it come from YOUR pocket, YOU, the true and faithful believer, pay more taxes to alleviate YOUR "duty". People NOT of your faith must not be forced to take on YOUR so called Christian burden / obligation.

but Jesus only had time for believers. Non-believers could do one. No Muslims back then of course.

Matthew 25 is what he is referring to at the beginning. Hitchens is right...who does Welby envisage to do this benevolence work? Govt? Church? Him?
The other passage is Luke 18 and asks the question as to whether Welby is being self righteous to shame others.

Why do atheists always paint this childish picture of God being an old man with a beard who lives in the clouds? It's so silly.

In the Old testament, each tribe had its own god. Moses acknowledged other gods but declared his was better.
The tribal god might be considered l'esprit de corps so to speak.

What is the redress of a British person that is attacked in some way by one of these chancers? A raped person. A robbed person. An injured person. A murdered person. The law seems to place their claims at a lower status than those of the attacker, the foreigner, the never-paid-a-penny-to-the-system person.
How on earth is that just?

Hitchens makes a very good point about why this is being permitted to happen by our political establishment ie the perpetuation of the low wage economy.
Time for a truly open and frank debate about what amounts to unchecked immigration to this country.
There are certainly pros and cons, I accept that, but uncontrolled immigration into what are inevitably predominantly poorer areas and the resulting competition for and stress upon already squeezed resources is bound to foment discord.
A load of well to do do-gooders like Welby who won't in all honesty experience those stresses sounding off about compassion for your fellow man might sound virtuous, but it's offensive to those who are continually forced to endure the consequences of his posturing.

We’re supposed to respect a man of the cloth in Welby’s case, it’s impossible. He is arrogant tinged with stupidity. The C of E churches congratulations are dropping like flies, what this bloke doing about it?
