Peter Hitchens: The UK economy is going to go over the edge

  • Journalist Peter Hitchens has told talkRADIO the UK faces dire consequences over the government's handling of coronavirus.
Speaking to talkRADIO's Mike Graham he said: “I wish I could find some way of getting across to people the extraordinary level of damage done by Johnson, Hancock and their Cabinet allies to this country, for no good reason."
It comes as Liverpool City Region received a £44 million package as part of its Tier 3 measures, but Greater Manchester wants more extensive support - including a furlough scheme paying 80% of wages for affected workers.
The British Chambers of Commerce told the Prime Minister that any new lockdown restrictions must come with “truly commensurate” financial support or risk “catastrophic economic consequences”.

One of numerous Doctors specialists in this area who has written numerous virology articles has said "each positive test was to be reported as a COVID19 case, irrespective of clinical presentation. This definition represented an unforgivable breach of a first rule in infectiology, the necessity to differentiate between infection and infectious disease(infection with ensuing illness).COVID19 is the designation for severe illness that only occurs in about 10% of infected individuals but because of incorrect designation, the number of "cases" surged".

Those were my thoughts exactly Noel. The rot set in as soon as currencies were unpegged from the gold standard. Every time the amount of fiat money in circulation doubles the superwealthy will ensure they maintain their share of it, changing the law if they need to, and while what used to cost £1 now costs £2 you can guarantee your wages or state benefits won't have doubled to keep up. The coming crunch will be on a scale greater than that following the shift of public money into private company bank bailouts of 2007-2008, and even those who still have a job will feel the pain. It's happening already, I've noticed it with food prices and accelerating shrinkflation of products. Ironically, as discretionary spending drops and more service jobs are lost it will make matters even worse as we slide into a downward spiral. The answer? Print more money so banks can lend again, allowing punters to borrow from earnings even further in the future. That 5-year car loan? Soon it will be a 10-year car loan, if it's not already, and as it becomes the norm people will sleepwalk into it like they've always done.

Apart from Dr Heiko Schöning's phone and computer that where taken away from him by the metropolitan police was this book. Firstly they would not let him speak, locked him up for 22 hours and refused to allow him to call his wife and or Lawyer, or even a Doctor to take photos of and examine his wrists that were badly bruised by the police. Then took away amongst other things, this book.

Just spent nearly 5 weeks in Sweden and visited Malmo and about 7 towns, I drove about 2,500km half way up Sweden. I saw probably thousands of people going in and out of shops with no masks, I saw a total of 5 masks all the time I was there. Life is normal, people rarely Social distance and I shook hands with 2 people who offered them. I stayed in a mountain hut with bunk beds with 6 people I had never met before. When walking down a path people do not step off the path like they do in rural England and are very friendly. I had my hair cut and the girl said they only closed the salon for one week in June, when Covid reached their town. Sweden was hit hard in their care homes in the first months like UK, but the mortality rate did not exceed UK's Their current 7 day moving average mortality rate from Covid is now 95% below that of the UK and is currently 50% below Denmark's, they appear to have herd immunity. In 2nd Quarter the GDP fell 7.7% as against 21.5% for the UK and 12%+ in Eurozone. Also interestingly I spoke a Swede who said Finland never lockdown and stay at home orders were not enforced in any Nordic country, it looks like there was no real lockdown or mandatory mask in shops in any Nordic country like in UK, France, Italy and Spain. The % living in urban areas is high at 88% to UK's 84% and far more live in high density housing than the UK, so population density does explain the difference.
