@@jamesedington3153 I think that was the point of his comment. Navy SEAL man has no experience with that type of combat. Saving Private Ryan was extremely accurate in the combat portrayal especially in the beginning of that movie. There weren't any real special tactics that he is most familiar with used in that invasion. Their plan was to use thousands of men with no real advance combat training beyond basic to run up the beach while getting shot at with machine guns and artillery with the hope that 1or 2 out of every 10 would make it past the beach and be able to clear the offensive line for the next wave. The plan was simply strength in numbers. Navy SEAL man has no experience with that and no U.S. service member since Vietnam has experience with that.
The thing about saving private Ryan is that its more realistic than other war movies. That doesn't at all mean that it's truly accurate to real life. Once you have seen real combat footage it becomes very obvious that Saving Private Ryan isnt that realistic, just more so than other films.
@Peter C Peter C Yeah footage of the real thing really changed the way I look at "realistic" movies. I cant imagine what it's like for those that have actually seen war
Tropic Thunder is the most realistic war documentary ever created. That movie told so many truths that soldiers have to quietly live with every day. So the next time you see a vet you tell them, "I never knew the struggle until I saw Tropic Thunder."
The last Rambo movie was pretty realistic, he killed over 10 AK47 wielding dudes in a field using nothing but a single fire crossbow. Loved it. Nobody even shot back. 😭😭😭
No one can bring me down off the hype of Rambo, the realism doesn’t matter, he’s an inspiration, and I will always get teary thinking about the end of number 4, the beast goes home!!! God given cinema

The onion covered that back in the day about the new "ultra realistic" call of duty where you sit at the base dicking around for 9 months and then get shot randomly on patrol

Maybe because it was based on book written by journalist who was with them whole time. And two marines who actually were there worked as consultants during filming.
I love the movie but I personally see it as being science-fiction as much as The Terminator movies,Aliens and Starship Troopers are.I I think it should have marketed itself that way(as science fiction and fantasy) because outside of the SEAL Teams being a real organization-there isn't anything else that's even slightly realistic about the movie. Navy SEALs is basically a science fiction,action-adventure fantasy movie. I think if you're making a movie or book and it's fiction and you market it as such, there won't be a problem with people saying it's unrealistic because that's part of the point.Former Navy SEAL Jack Carr writes popular fiction books and he just goes to town with it but it works because he doesn't claim that they're anything other than fiction.Same thing with Tom Clancy and Brad Thor books. I'm going to be writing comics and books in the future and likewise, they'll all be fiction and fantasy. I would love to see a sequel to Navy SEALs made(with different actors, obviously) but one that's either more realistic or that's just a full-on science fiction movie.

The STI pistol he uses in John Wick is custom double stack 9mm that's a competition pistol and holds more ammo than the majority of factory handguns. So him shooting it 20 times isn't an oversight or unrealistic

I've never been in a war, thank God, but there was a scene, in of all places, "Forrest Gump," that looked like what it would actually be like to get caught in an firefight in Vietnam.

@@mez5291 Rest in peace your grandfather. My grandfather was, British and I was lucky because he lived to almost 94, until he passed away last year. He also fought at Burma, and every minute I spent with him, I would ask him about the war, which he loved talking about. He was in the Royal artillery, and fought at Ramree island against the Japanese. He told me about the american, and gurkha friends he made. He used tell me some words in hindistani, which he learnt whilst he was there. I've got all his medals and papers from the war, including a bible he was given to carry around during the war.

I've never been in a war, thank God, but there was a scene, in of all places, "Forrest Gump," that looked like what it would actually be like to get caught in an firefight in Vietnam. Then, a rocket took one soldier right out of the picture, reminding me where I first heard the term, "blown away," by a friend who served in the 'Nam. War is truly, Hell.

I'm so glad he mentioned the grenade thing. Same thing with RPGs. Pisses me off when people don't understand fragmentation and shaped charges.
SanguineSaint21 - why does it make you mad when people don’t understand things they never actually see or view on a regular basis
@@TourettesOrc It doesn't really. I was just kidding. No tone through text.
that pisses you off? hahaah sucker
Bloodybleeder yea thats just the reality of the round great at going through things but i doubt its good for knockdown power
Same. It's just for a show, though. A big ball of fire looks cooler than a big dirt cloud. Same with RPGs. A long trail of smoke and big ass ball of fire when it hits is a lot cooler looking than, well... "BOOM!-BOOM! "
5:27 HE DID THE ELON SMOKE!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I wasn't a Navy Seal, but I was US Army Special Operations, and death by power point, training, training and more power point presentation was 90% of my Military career.
This is like doctors and nurses watching medical dramas where they put on the stethoscope backwards.
i dropped a grenade in my toilet this morning there was no fireball eighter
HAHAHAHAAHHA
That's funny shit literally
hahahaha
Gas
🤣🤣🤣
Also war movies don't have the SEALS importing cocaine ....
Joe's buddy is 100% correct about the cigarette thing. A cigarette smoker can definitely tell if you're a smoker or not. Lol
Same with someone who smokes weed vs someone who doesn't
Most convincing cigarette smoking scene was when Chandler taught Joey how to smoke during a scene.
Absolutely
I think we can all say Travolta might be Hollywood's worst smoker, I.e. 'broken arrow'.
@@manks5491 YES! That's why I don't get why people like The Big Lebowski. Someone who's been a daily smoker for years is NOT going on an acid trip from two drags of good weed.
Also... Stop smoking, please, it's not that hard if you just make the choice to do something better with your time and health.
Like when there's a guitar player in a movie and he's clearly not playing anything that you hear
Everything he said after 10:35 was spot on. Exactly what it was like fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. Almost all of our time spent on mission planning, negotiating for aircraft, submitting requests through the JOC, working the logistics, and conducting briefs. Very little time you spend over there is actually kinetic operations.
Thank you for your service and insight.
@Gore4ever FulciLives You're talking about the difference between leg infantry and special ops. I envied the grunts, because they were given an AO, launched and stayed in the field patrolling for bad guys for most of their deployments. We spent most of our time gathering intel, planning, requesting resources, briefing, getting approvals, launching, rolling up bad guys, egressing and then more mission planning, briefings, approvals...rinse, repeat.
Dude just lost Microsoft office their military contract
LOL
enter office libre. lol
95% training and only 5% combat? Let me introduce you to Vietnam...
He should check out The Way of the Gun. Not a war movie but the director's brother is a Navy SEAL and was the technical advisor on the film. Apparently all the tactical maneuvers are completely legit and every round fired is accounted for so people reload when necessary.
Except one shot during the hacienda scene. It was a little homage to the 'old ways' of Hollywood shootouts where nobody reloads. That shot happens at 8.35 in this video. Such a good movie though. th-cam.com/video/20oEmQZrqyI/w-d-xo.html
"Tell that bitch to shut up before i fuck start her head"
Biscuitchris7again Ah yes, good point. I forgot about that part.
10:03 -
"Greater than 95% of my career, I've spent training"
"5% I spent in combat" "that's average"
So true! Lol
*No different than a boxer.*
Same with the death by powerpoint.
Yup👌
