- On the outskirts of Tamil Nadu, and a 90-minute drive away from Bengaluru, is a village called Shoolagiri that is known for its eco-friendly community called Sanctity Ferme. To promote their vision of a natural ecosystem, sustainable model homes were planned for the residents. Flintstone6 is first of many such eco-friendly prototypes, designed to blend with the scenic untouched landscapes of the region.
#GlassInDesign is a series presented by Saint Gobain (@SaintGobainIndiaGlassBusiness ) in association with #Buildofy
Design and construction during the thick of the pandemic posed a limitation that eventually became Flintstone6’s strength - the use of minimal materials all obtained from nature itself. It is part of the landscape itself. Each space in this 1935 sq.ft. home is connected to the outdoors, with natural cross ventilation and a dynamic palette of light and shadow patterns constant throughout the day.

The poured earth debris walls, inverted stair room, and washrooms inside the bedrooms are some key highlights of the project. Principal Architect walks us through the home, insightfully breaking down the material palette as well as the design challenges that give this sustainable home an edge over most in this country.

After watching quite a few videos in Buildofy, I wonder how people manage the mosquitoes problem when the houses are built as part of nature with massive doors and windows..
Dust too
@@NitishKumar-jk6ygheat, sunlight, insects, snakes too. I think the owners of these kind of houses use them as their vacation home.
Yes mosquitoes, insects are a problem in such areas u can't do much but has to live with it
What about humans?
Sanctity ferme from what I can understand is a sustainable community spread over 300 acres of land. I don’t think they have to worry about mosquitoes dust and garbage.
man house is luxurious but evokes luxury as nature does, the building is not shouting for attention for gold or richness, I can see u have worked vinu daniel, man big up
You could also mention the cost involved in each of your projects. It would help people like us assess what could fit into our budget and reach out to you folks.

Highly impractical house for daily use - specially for families. Good for making a statement with the house.
It's like a joker house. Open toilets and glass roof 😂
maybe he doesn't want a family
@@CJ_222 that’s fine. But the statement is still true. Not for families. Simple.
It’s a beautiful modern home for smart people who don’t breed
Statement buildings add value to the region itself. Glass roof, as I see is mainly for porch. As for keeping out pest, there’re screens available. Probably just not shown here for aesthetic reasons.
Just amazing! Lovely open design. No safety grills or curtains to impede the view. Absolutely stunning!
No safety grills or curtains true but they are armed all the time...
Impractical.
Looks like a museum
to you
Simply fantastic! A one-of-a-kind home that needed a ton of courage and creativity both from the architect and the owner! I truly hope that this was not his destination, only a milestone in a long and interesting journey unfolding with time.
It's beautiful and yes impractical for those that only see cookie cutter housing as a way to building homes
My heart just melted when I saw the stairs merging with the kitchen top...❤
I want an earthen home. It's natural and beautiful. These structures are no longer mud and stick holes of the past but gorgeous modern buildings. Combining ancient art and modern beauty.
Agree. I love how it blends naturally into the background.
Beautifully built a heaven on earth. Appreciate the idea and efforts in bringing this up.
Simply fantastic.... Excellent design... No comments on the Architectural front.... Almost 100% Eco Design with 0% Safety features.... And so many low level vents in an area filled with trees n shrubs is like giving an open invite to the reptiles like snakes, insects n etc... Just a honest review... But design n architecture is 💯....
I find it very unique in itself.
When I built my house I will definitely take inspiration from this house. It's a beautiful mix bw nature and Egyptian/north African style architecture and eco friendly.
PLAIN & SIMPLE?! THE WHOLE HOUS IS MY DREAM ITS SO BEAUTIFUL!
this is a master piece, really integrated to environment
one of my fav homes ,something like this would be very intresting ,especially the glass works and the earthen materials
Amazing combination of nature with luxury.
This is an absolutely gorgeous house.....so damm peacefully yet energetic!!!......loved it !
My kind of house great harmony with nature
Praiseworthy experiment.... new concept, new idea executed.
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
Wish you the very best for more such projects and keep inspiring us.
Loved it brother, fell in loved with your plan and designing ❤
The best of everything. It looks like living art. What a joy it must be to live in such a place.
Absolutely stunning, for those who say it’s not practical it’s all about the brief and the client needs.
A work of art, for sure.
I admire the beautiful build and the courage that ot takes to do something like this, but If women and children are going to live in there, I am afraid its not safe enough.
My dream house! Admirations for such a great project
Amazing Job!!! Congratulations. ..Creative thought process
Marvelous, one word describes it. So simple and so elegant.
This is a perfect sustainable home.
Great creation beautifully blends with the surroundings!
a very beautiful house...so much to learnt and an inspiration as well...the idea of rock basin you highlighted was amazing...!!!
Simply superb congratulations 🎉 and both the people in the video are also earthy
That looks sooo mesmerizing ❤❤❤
That's a real chilled out space. Nice layout and thoughtful concept.
Beautiful, amazing work
Just wow 👏🏽👏🏽 stunning work
Superbly designed and executed 👌love to know more about the details in terms of construction of debris wall and the way challenges tackle by you while executing the design on site with respecting existing trees and the boulders.
Such a unique house. Wonderful. Great work.
Spectacular! Loved every corner of it.
Heart n soul …. Simplicity
Wow & double wow, really uplifting presentation. So many levels to this.
Great stepping stone.🎉
Woah! Loved it! Simplicity at its best!
No word for your geniousness.
Just beautiful!
Beautiful….great architecture and ideas
Beautifully designed. Afgani's traditional touches are able to see. African and gulf traditional blend works well. Concept is not living in home, living with nature without disturbing environment and make comforts for living within the place. Great... Have to congratulate the house owner for approving his imagination comes live. 👌👏👏👏
Lol. Afghan, arab models & merging with the nature. they are opposites to each other. In arab deserts, you can not live any close to nature :-)
How beautiful and creative is this!!! Wow I wish you guys could do my place.
It's extremely beautiful but I think the roof with glass shed is a heater for sure. Also the tree trunk has no space to grow out bcz of small cutout provided. But it's a learning curve for sure. You guys should also update on problems faced afterwards.
I was wondering abt the tree too
Yes
It appears Buidofy project engineering is one of India premier natural home architects and his wisdom and sense of living art with function and style is testament to his motivation for building great homes. There are many note worthy home design first and brilliant art in this home but the wash basin was the rock that brought it all together for me.
fantástica casa!!
Beautiful
The Flintstone6 house is a commendable effort in sustainable architecture, aiming to seamlessly blend with the natural environment of Shoolagiri. However, extensive use of glass walls, while aesthetically pleasing and providing a strong connection with the outdoors, could lead to significant heat gain, especially in India's hot and humid climate. Despite the use of low-e glass to reduce heat gain, it might not be enough to counteract the intense sunlight. This could potentially make the house uncomfortably hot during certain times of the day or year. The greenhouse effect created by the glass could trap heat inside the building, making it hot and humid in the evenings, even with open windows for ventilation.
The use of earth and debris as building materials provides excellent thermal mass, which can help moderate indoor temperatures. However, these materials are not particularly good insulators. This means that while they can absorb and slowly release heat, they might not prevent heat from the outside from entering the house, or heat from the inside from escaping. This could result in a less than optimal thermal comfort inside the house.
Integrating existing trees into the design of the house is a wonderful way to preserve the natural environment. However, as trees grow and their roots expand over time, they could potentially affect the structural integrity of the house. Additionally, trees can attract insects and other pests, which could become a problem for the house, especially considering the extensive use of glass and the potential for open windows and doors for ventilation.
Some design decisions, such as the glass partitions between bathrooms and the lack of a central courtyard, were criticized. The glass partitions might not provide enough privacy, and there could be other ways to bring the view of the trees into the house, such as through the use of courtyards. The lack of a central courtyard could also impact the efficiency of ventilation in the house.
Despite these potential issues, it's important to note that the Flintstone6 house is a prototype and a stepping stone to new projects. The embodied energy of the house is likely very low due to the use of materials from the surroundings, including the glass. However, the design could benefit from further consideration of thermal comfort and ventilation, as well as the long-term implications of integrating trees into the structure of the house.
Excellent, sir.
Beautiful ❤
Fantastic
1.000.000 thumbs up!!! for this crea!!💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✊
Nice nice really nice...out of the box design
I have never seen that kind of architecture marvelous. wow
This house has my whole heart 😍😍😍😍
Excellent and awesome…. Congratulations
Feast for the primal senses within us
Extremely beautiful
My dream home!
This is quite elegant but what about security
An incredibly treasure, the house exudes a feeling as if Gaia herself had built it for a favorite child. Brilliant design for a hot tropical climate, I would only worry about the glass roof and sunburn.
How do you control bugs, mosquitos espcially?
Wow so amazing to see such an idea being so much attached to nature with great creativity...making Life fancy enough yet close to nature ... thanks for sharing your creativity....🙏🥰
wow!!
Wowwwwwww😇
Fantastic...👌👍
I think a glass roof would make the inside of the house very hot!
absolutely impractical !! truly flintstone cave ! out from the comics.
Beautiful!!!!!👌👌
stayed here, cannot afford to stay during summer is like an oven inside
The roof is glass; that will cook the interior.
Just wow
One of a kind . Something from my imagination 🥰
This house is so elegant design, before i don't look this.l love this eco friendly house.
Beautiful!
the best best best of everything. These kind of spaces are what I studied architecture for
Classic near to nature
Amazing! If this was only the first prototype i'm looking forward to see how the next ones will be like! congratulations!
Love the way you dressed like fred flintstone ❤
Beautiful dwelling, very well considered building. I'd love to live in it
Stunning
Nice experiment . They could have used wood instead of glass , more natural stones instead of cement as much as possible . The furniture could been more rustic . Could have used a stone wash basin instead of ceramic .
Ultimately impractical. Don't like car port visible from kitchen. Some lovely ideas too. Thanks for sharing.
Safety is a challenge
Love it❤
Good architecture
feeling proud to hsve stayed in the house
Well crafted 💛😍
Great job!
Masterpiece 👏
