- Located in a tight urban context in the old city of Surat, Tiny House is a five-storeyed house made on a plot area of merely 354 sq. ft. The house seamlessly belongs to its surroundings without taking away its cultural and contextual relevance.
A striking feature of the house is a Hume pipe designed into the elevation that houses a tree leading up to the balcony on the first floor. Metal louvers with perforations form an integral part of the elevation which allow the flexibility of complete permeability or privacy from the street.
All the liveable spaces have been pushed to the front part of the house while the staircase shaft abuts the rear end, establishing a smooth vertical access throughout.

Openable metal louvers, consistent material palette, smart permeability of sufficient light and ventilation, and green spaces on the facade are some key highlights of the project. We want to see these types of projects on this channel. Architects usually work on a 1500 Sq Ft Plot and call that a small house. I wonder if they have ventured into real Indian urban spaces and see what most people can afford. Big plots with high budgets will bring in fancy elevations and crazy structures. But a real architect should be able to take up small projects and build something great with limited resources. I tip my hat to this architect. Keep making waves, it has an effect.

Architecture at its best. Every house should deserve attention. Size is never a obstruction it is a challenge worth taking.
I hope they get the elevator fixed quickly. Meeting guest in 1st floor, eating in 2nd floor, sleeping in 3rd n 4th floor. It ll be a punishment to the knees...
Or they may end up actually having a far healthier set of knees than the rest of us who never exercise!!

I have seen 1000s of videos of tiny homes but the architect has so wonderfully designed this home that it just mind blowing

Gr8 work. I've seen many such projects in Tokyo. If horizontal space is limited one can rise vertical. I liked the movable sieve grill thing. It enable fresh air as well as privacy.
Our country needs more such projects where space is costly (Bombay, Delhi etc)

Everyone should be able to build their dream house even in such confined spaces of city with the feature of connecting or keeping privacy as and when needed.
I seriously doubt that is a budget house the materials and finishes and the use of an architect push considerably past what one would consider a budget house in India or any country for that matter. It is however a well executed and handsome small house .

This house is unique in many so ways. Small yet practical and excellent use of those movable vents for both privacy and air flow. Smart use of the each and every space of the house. Zenithal lighting concept is such an underrated concept which thankfully has been in use more of late. Great work architects.

Nevertheless the end result is beautiful and given the challenges in size of plot ans sharing walls with three neighbouring houses i think the architect and buikding team have done a fabulous job. Kudos to the architect for this thoughtful design. But personally it wont work for me each space is arranged vertically and thinking of using steps just to move from living room to kitchen and from kitchen to bedroom is really hard to imagine.

The house looks modern and beautiful, but the congested streets and close proximity of other houses make it feel cramped. Also, the harsh sunlight and weather is evident in the video.
