Eventhough she insists it's not the aesthetics/uniqueness she is rooting for, i kinda feel too much emphasis was put into it that hinders the practicality of living there day in and day out against the forces of nature. But I'm sure they have contingencies put in place considering how experienced they are. It should've been covered in the video for us commoners to put things into perspective.
@@arjunraj823 I am not arguing. I have been to kerala many times. It is very beautiful. My point is the house is not a practical design. Keeping it open in the night let's in insects and all.
As an architect living in Kerala, I would love to see more houses like this, but it's practically impossible for a normal family to live and maintain it. If this is a holiday home, which means it would be closed up for a major part of the year, then I guess it would work. But for a normal family with normal everyday problems, this would raise a lot of concerns. Apart from practicality, this is an amazing architectural experimentation, something we don't often strive for.
what would you say are the major concerns for someone building this type of home for everyday use in kerala? Would the construction materials not last? Would the plantation on the roof create issue? Im just curious. TIA
@@ThanoojThampyin Kerala we have mansoon around June to September it’s practically in verge of floods of entire state is suffering from flood. So here that house is impractical coz of our climate conditions, insects, Every climate change chaos we have every single year un kerala.

Very very happy to see your house what I was thinking about. But I am stuck by usual urban practices, vastu and other beliefs. I am struggling with those construction workers everyday for having little greenary into and around my home. Your video will surely help me to justify my vision. It encourages me to take bold decisions to make my concrete walls into green walls. Thank u for sharing your home.
Vastu includes calculations & numbers along with alignment of planetary bodies on earth, rain, light, wind, place of worship in home, gate, location of home in a plot of land, location of open well, water bodies etc. This was broadly checked before constructing a building/house. Every architect will study the above things before constructing, which mean they all follow vastu. But there are some vastu expert fools, who tell you that it should be made in this or that matter or so and provide you a plan of their own which is simply bs*.
The house exudes a striking simplicity and elegance. However, I have a few reservations regarding potential issues with mosquitos and rain, as the house is situated below ground level in a damp area. The proximity of the swimming pool to the bedroom is undoubtedly aesthetically pleasing, but it may seem awkward to have it placed so close without any separation in between but just an edge.
Lovely design. I enjoy the architect explanation. Not very often does an architect explains so well the philosophical reasons behind it. Every element was thought through. It all makes sense. Even the Rethm speakers.
