  • I made a single signature junk journal using a 1972 sewing pattern pouch and a manila large envelope as the base. This video is a "quick" flip through of this journal and some of the papers and material I used.
Subscribe to keep in tune with for a future video serious on making this journal from start to finish
I mentioned in the video that one of the large journaling cards I made I used a digital collage I purchased on Etsy. The shop was WillowBoundJournals and she has a crazy good sell once a year on all her digitals :)

This is SO cute. I've never made a junk journal before, but you've inspired me!
25 years to 45 years is classic. 50 years to 99 years is vintage. 100 years or older is antique.

I'm watching all the posts about using the pattern envelopes for junk journal covers. Such cute different ideas. Thanks!

The "vellum" is an acetate quilt pattern. The girls are good to use for handkerchief paper doll cards. Great idea. I've good tons of those advertisement pages from old magazines from 50s and 60s.

I think the quilting pattern is produced by laying the vellum on the spot where you want the design and then cinnamon is "pounced" on the vellum so it goes through small holes of tge design and onto the fabric.

Oh I am so happy to have come across your site . I absolutely loved your journal. I have been looking at junk journals for at least 2 years and never came across yours , I particularly like any and all that have to do with old fashion or patterns and really liked your style . I hope you never gave up because of few viewers or subscribers. . You got it girl .......this journal is SUPER...... If you stopped ..."Go Back " This is note worthy and beautiful. That is a seller , so make more and find a way to sell them, I truly mean that. .. If I saw that in a store I would buy that ! Based on my KNOWLEDGE I would make more and every morning when I get up I would look in the mirror and say " Thank you for my creativity , these are going to fly off the shelves".... Just do that ... trust me !!!....... Colleen!

Your kind words truly touched my heart, so thank you! I love seeing everyone's creativity as well and truly enjoy making these JJ and other crafts that make you look at things outside their original form! I hope you have a fantastic day. Hugs Paula

I just got 2 boxes full of older sewing patterns and now I need some ideas of what to do with them. Loved your journal. I have also been saving pages from The Workbasket magazine so was happy to see what you did with them.

I like how you decoupaged the tissue sewing pages to your journal. I haven't seen that before.
Did you decoupage over the pattern cover, also?
